"Let's have it breathe fire!"
"Ooh, and we can give it an electric attack, too!"
"Electricity? Cool, but how!?"
Rimuru rolled his eyes. Ramiris and I had been going over the design for our golem ever since the children fell asleep four hours ago.
"Look, guys. I'm gonna take the kids back to Englesia. Have fun with-" Big Bro started.
"You can't go!" Ramiris and I yelled at him in unison, "You have to name the golem when we finish it!"
"You've been talking for four hours now. I'm pretty sure you'll still be working on that golem next week, so I'm gonna leave now, while I can, and come back later."
"But Big Bro-!" I whined, but he, Ranga, and the kids were already gone.
…
Fortunately, Big Bro leaving meant that Ramiris and I could work on our golem without any distractions at all.
I wanted to put a Spirit Core into the golem in order to regulate it, but Ramiris vetoed that idea. Apparently, the physics got rather complex when combining normal magic and spirits. Combining them in a body as small as this pet project of ours was nearly impossible.
Some time while we were discussing the body, Big Bro returned.
"You two are still working on that thing? It's been two weeks, you know?"
"Oh, Rimuru! We've got it down to two options. Which do you like better? The dragon or the chimera?" Ramiris asked. We'd been arguing about the two options for several days now. I wanted to use the chimera template, which utilized parts from hundreds of different magical beasts, but Ramiris thought that the template that used primarily dragon parts was cooler. We were completely deadlocked.
"Umm…" Big Bro looked over the two schematics for several minutes before responding. "Won't the dragon one be able to do more?"
"But the chimera one looks so cool! All that fur, and-"
"But the fur gets in the way of the cool, sleek look, Ramiris!" I whined.
"But isn't the rugged look so much cooler!? All big and manly? The dragon one looks like a woman."
"And the chimera looks like a big bipedal dog! It's basically Ranga on two legs, not cute at all!"
"LADIES!" Big Bro shouted, interrupting our argument, "How about you just do this?" Cheating with the Wise One, Big Bro took our two designs, put them together, and optimized them, before transmitting the finished product into our minds with Thought Communication.
Seeing it, Ramiris and I went silent for a moment.
"SOO COOL!" We shouted in unison. Though, after a moment, I added "Cheater."
Big Bro chuckled as we immediately got to work on the golem's body. First, we needed to start with the inner workings. We were basically basing the golem off of a simplified form of the human body.
The first things we made were the stomach and heart. We used a magisteel container filled with slime for the stomach. The slime was technically a part of my own body, and it'd allow the golem to eat literally anything, converting it into magicules for fuel.
As for the heart, it was made from sticky steel thread and magic cores. Essentially, its job was simply to regulate magicules to and from the rest of the body, as well as work as the main housing for the soul of the demon that I was going to have inhabit the golem body.
Once we had those done, it was time to create the 'veins' that would regulate magicules to and from the body's extremities. Technically, none of this was necessary, but I wanted to make it as human-like as possible. It was just a pet project, after all. Perfectly fine for putting my heart and soul into.
The golem's 'blood' was just water packed full of magicules. The 'veins' were made out of a flexible resin that I'd developed by using Big Bro's Gluttony to instantly turn a handful of wyvern corpses into liquid oil, then processed in my own stomach with Curiosity. I created hundreds of them, a total of nearly 20 kilometers worth of small magicule-filled veins, all going from the heart to every other part of the golem's body.
Which led to the creation of the body itself.
The chassis of the body was magisteel, but it was small and mostly hollow. The limbs were connected via ball joints, with the veins going through and around them to get to the extremities. While that limited the motion to the point where it didn't have a full range of motion, but it still had a larger range of motion than any human. After that, the joints were protected by the resin, held together and protected via sticky steel thread.
Then, we got to the good part. Also the difficult part. Combining liquid metal with muscles and sinew from beasts that I'd killed over the past few months in a process that Big Bro's Wise One skill had come up with, utilizing hellmoth silk and a bit of my own slime to cover the entire body in a thick layer of muscle, before covering that muscle with a layer of soft, thick direwolf fur, a lattice structure of hellmoth silk, and a layer of skin created from a version of my resin, created from different magical beasts, rather than wyverns this time. I didn't have an endless supply of wyvern corpses, after all. While placing the resin for the outer skin layer, I made sure to add small lines of Armorsaurus armor and Wind Dragon scales, to make it tougher. Since combining them with the resin would weaken them, the golem's skin would still be weak to piercing attacks with small weapons, anything with a point that was less than about an inch thick, and aimed perfectly, but that was fine. The resin itself was almost as tough as magisteel, with the direwolf fur beneath it one layer below that in terms of toughness, and the liquid bio-organic-metal muscles comparable. And if something managed to get past all that, they'd still have to get through the magisteel frame before any real damage could be done.
Once everything was said and done, the golem looked almost human, except for the mask where the face would be. It was a little over six feet tall, with smooth gray skin and a hulking frame. For convenience's sake, I put it in some clothes, then summoned a Greater Demon to inhabit it.
Immediately, the demon agreed to the terms. Serve Ramiris for 100 years, then the body was his to do whatever he wanted with.
He wanted to serve Big Bro.
So, after he merged with the golem, Big Bro named the demon Beretta. Upon being named, Beretta grew a foot-and-a-half of silver hair, and Big Bro lost 85% of his magicules in one fell swoop.
