Chapter 59 - Ch. 59: Adventures While Rimuru Teaches

Benimaru entered Rimuru's office and immediately collapsed onto the couch. "I don't know how he does it…"

"Have a nice day, brother?"Shuna asked from Rimuru's desk, where she was helping to fill out paperwork.

"Deliveries from the Beast Kingdom were the same as agreed on, Gabil's been getting help from Lady Risa's named monsters, another thing I have to check daily, gather wyverns… They've lent two out to Koby for easier deliveries to Eurazania… Did you know that Lady Risa has four Blade Tigers and three Blade Grizzlies, running around doing errands for her? Lord Rimuru told me to have Izzy write up a report, and it's five pages of species and names, present and future, Shuna! At least construction is going well on Geld's end… I'm thinking of just having him wait until Lord Rimuru returns to give his next report, with everything else I have on my plate… How did Lord Rimuru manage to do all of this and still look like he was slacking?!" Benimaru vented.

"Cream puff?" Shuna replied.

"Absolutely." Benimaru reached out to accept the cream puff that his sister offered, "So, what about you? How are you doing?"

"Sir Rimuru came back last night, asked if I still wanted to learn magic, then dropped off that pile of magic tomes, before disappearing once more." Shuna nodded toward a giant stack of books, floor to ceiling, that took up a corner of the room.

"Wow…"

"Yeah."

(Rimuru POV)

"Ugh we just can't win against you, Teacher!" Kenya complained.

"And don't expect to. As promised, the next volume of that manga." I said. Instantly, the kids began to clamor for their manga. Meanwhile, the Wise One had something to say.

'Report. Sky Dragon detected. Headed straight for city proper.'

Two questions. What is a Sky Dragon, and why is it headed straight for Englesia?

'A Sky Dragon is a Wind Dragon that didn't quite evolve correctly, and is thus weaker than a normal Arch-Dragon. Reasons unknown, but it is headed for Englesia. Will likely damage the city quite a bit.'

Ugh. I wish Risa was here. "Ranga." I called.

"Yes, master?" Surprising the kids, he instantly appeared out of my shadow.

Currently, the kids and I were on a hilltop outside of the city. I'd taken them there on a whim for a picnic. So, we all got a great view of the giant Sky Dragon tearing its way toward the city.

"Ranga, someone needs to go deal with that dragon before someone gets hurt."

"On it, Master!"

"No, Ranga. I'll do it. I just need you to protect the kids."

"Consider it done, master!"

"Thanks, Ranga. I can always count on you."

"Mr. Tempest! That's a dragon! I know you're strong, but-"

"Don't worry, Chloe. A dragon or two don't stand a chance against me. Your instructor is super swol!" And now the kids were cringing. Time to go look cool.

Sprouting my wings from my back, I flew toward Englesia.

"Mr. Tempest can fly!?"

Wait, I don't want to be recognized. I've gotten my B-rank up to a B-plus in the last month, but I didn't have much interest in being some famous A-Rank adventurer like 'White Flame Rin.'

Changing my clothes to something loose and flowing, I aged myself up by a few years, just enough that I'd not be immediately recognizable.

When I caught up with the dragon, it was already right outside the city gates, raining lightning down on the poor citizens below.

The only reason that nobody had already died was because of two guys, a large merchant-looking man and a dude that looked suspiciously like that swindler guy that Risa had raked over the coals back when we'd first arrived in Blummund. Those two were handing out Tempest brand potions like candy, helping anyone injured. Otherwise, the dragon would likely have already slaughtered everyone and begun attacking the city proper.

So, after calling out to the guy I recognized, Bydd, and promising to compensate the merchant guy for his used potions, I batted the Sky Dragon around a bit, then gobbled it down.

A Sky Dragon may have been an even match with Ranga, as far as raw power went, at least, but it was still barely an arch-dragon. It didn't stand a chance against a demon lord seed at full power.
