"So, this giant thing is like… my sibling?" I asked. We were onsite, looking up at the giant fish-thing above. I could tell that this thing was definitely stronger than me.
"Charybdis is a spiritual lifeform generated from the Storm Dragon's magicules, so you could think of it like that, in a way." Treyni replied, "It's unstoppable for us, though. If it were sentient…"
It'd be Disaster class, a real demon lord, if it was sentient. Basically, this thing didn't exactly have a body. It just resurrected itself repeatedly over time, moving itself over to another body. Apparently, all spirits and demons could do this, including Risa.
Wait, if this thing was born from Veldora's magicules, then could it possibly be targeting me, since he was 'sleeping' inside of me?
Let's not think about that.
Anyways, now that I was within sight of the flying fish-beast, I could analyze it.
According to the Wise One, this thing wasn't actually a threat to me. While it was definitely stronger than me by technicality, its huge size seemed to actually mitigate its individual danger. Since it had that annoying Magic Interference skill, I couldn't do an in-depth analysis. But, when Risa tested it with her Sun-Cutting Art, I was able to infer that it had a bunch of ingrained resistances, a tough outer shell, the ability to disperse magicules, and Ultraspeed Regeneration. Truly, demon-lord-level power. Even Risa's overwhelmingly powerful Art only managed to cut into it a few feet, a gash that closed within seconds.
Umm. That regeneration's better than mine.
Luckily, it didn't seem to have much in the way of offense, but I wasn't about to let anyone but Milim lower their guard.
"Alright, guys. Take out those megalodons!"
…
The first team to take one down was Gabil's. His team had an advantage in this contest, since all hundred of them could fly. His team weakened the monster gradually, before he dealt the final blow with his Vortex Spear.
The next ones to succeed were Gobta and Soka's teams, at the same time. Gobta's Riders had split into groups, focusing on either diverting their Megalodon's attention, or attacking it. Eventually, they stuck four swords into the giant shark's body down to their hilts, then released a giant electric shock from Gobta's, frying the thing. It took a lot of their efforts, though, so I wasn't sure if they could pull it off again.
Meanwhile, Soka's team worked together, using their unrivaled speed to stab the megalodon in the eyeballs, before slicing its tail off and finally splitting the flying shark's skin from end to end.
The end result?
Goblin Riders: 2 Megalodons.
Flare Corps: 1 Megalodon.
Team Hiryu: 4 Megalodons.
Team Soka: 2 Megalodons.
Team Geld: 4 Megalodons.
Geld's team took longer to deal with them than the other teams, but every team had a limit when dealing with foes that powerful. Gabil's team might've been able to deal with another couple, but Gabil smartly chose to pull back, rather than risk overextending his men. I'd have to reward him for that.
Now, with the Pegasus Knights fast approaching, it was time to begin the assault on Charybdis itself.
Of course, neither Charybdis nor us had been simply watching the battles, doing nothing. Charybdis had actually been embroiled in a pretty intense battle against Risa ever since she'd attacked it. Luckily, it was ignoring everything else to focus on the 'threat,' allowing me to collect data on how the giant fish-thing 'fought.'
I guess using the word 'fought' was giving it too much credit, though. Basically, all it did was shoot giant lasers of compressed magicules out of its eye, relying on its magic field to keep anyone from getting close. Since Risa had wings, the magic interference didn't stop her from flying, but she wasn't willing to get into Charybdis's blind spot in case it had an area attack of some sort. After all, its eye-lasers alone were changing the landscape, gouging giant holes in the forest, and destroying the new gravel road to Dwargon that Geld had just finished.
Risa responded with a few more Sun-Cutting Slices, but even though they did damage, they took too much effort for her to casually bust out. She'd never do enough damage to even irritate this thing on her own. Luckily, she wasn't alone.
…
"Guys. Concentrate fire. If Charybdis has an attack that covers his blind spots, we need to make him use it before the Dwarves show up." I ordered.
"Can I just-"
"No, Milim."
"But I wanna-"
"No, Milim. Here, some honey."
"Who do you think I am?!" She still took the bait, though. Easier to placate than Risa, at least. Million times more dangerous, though.
"Hellzone!"
"Spirit Cannon!"
"AWOOO!"
"AROOOO!"
Benimaru, Shion, Ranga, Raya, and Soei all attacked Charybdis in succession. First, Benimaru, using his Airflight Art to float above Charybdis beside Milim and I, tossed out a Hellzone, which encompassed all of Charybdis in a giant, superheated black dome. After the Hellzone ended, Charybdis didn't seem to be very injured at all, but the next three attacks still capitalized on it, a bit.
Shion blasted a hole in Charybdis's side, where a large patch of its scales had already been burnt off. Ranga followed it up with a full-powered Black Lightning blast, and Raya followed that up with a massive cone of fire that erupted from her jaws, encompassing all of Charybdis, though it didn't do damage anywhere near what Benimaru's flames had done.
But one last aide of mine had one last attack.
Ten Soeis appeared on Charybdis's back and immediately began moving toward his injuries. The entire reason I'd been flying above Charybdis was because Soei had noticed that Magic Interference didn't extend to Shadow Travel.
And, finding Charybdis's quickly closing wounds, all ten Soeis muttered something at the same time. "Demonwire Penetrator."
