(Risa POV)
After the meeting wrapped up, Soei and Treyni immediately set out. While Soei had his orders already, Treyni apparently had quite a bit to do, too.
Meanwhile, we needed to do a few things before the rest of us set off.
Actually, technically, we weren't going to all set off. We basically just took Hakuro, Benimaru, Shion, Gobta, Ranga, and the Goblin Riders. Along with me and Big Bro, obviously.
Luckily, Benimaru and Rigur had been working our military over ever since the kijin joined us.
Basically, we currently had three branches.
As we'd learned through all the naming sprees we'd gone through, there were three 'names' that you could give a monster in order to increase their strengths.
The first name was basically just a way to differentiate a regular monster from a unique monster. Everyone in Tempest had a unique first name, given to them by Big Bro. Basically, this was their proof of citizenship, bringing them up from F-ranked goblins to D-ranked hobgoblins.
Then, there was the last name. According to Big Bro's Great Sage, giving a monster a last name basically cemented their theoretical potential, sort-of. For example, by giving Big Bro and I the same last name as him, Big Bro Veldora cemented the three of us as 'equals' under the Voice of the World. Thanks to that, we weren't considered Big Bro Veldora's 'subordinates,' but rather his 'family.'
Big Bro was hesitant to grant out last names to his subordinates because of that, though the Sage and I both knew that ship had already sailed. Technically, he could give them our last name, but doing that still wouldn't be enough to change an already cemented relationship.
Nobody in Tempest could evolve into a Demon Lord-equivalent unless Big Bro was already there. Not that it really mattered right now.
And the final 'name' that you could grant was a title. As long as the person in question accepted it, this title could be anything. It could also be changed as necessary. Every single 'fighter' in Tempest had some sort of title, including Big Bro and I. Some of the nonfighters did, too. That'd be something that they gained once they figured out what they wanted to do with their lives.
Big Bro's title was 'Lord.' Mine was 'Champion.'
From the kijin, Benimaru was the 'Samurai General,' Shion was the 'Royal Guard,' Soei was the 'Shadow,' Hakuro was the 'Instructor,' Shuna was the 'Oracle,' and Kurobe was the 'Blacksmith.'
As for the others, the two wolves, Ranga and Raya, were our 'Pets,' Rigurd was the 'Goblin King,' the village elders underneath him were the 'Goblin Lords,' and then we had Rigur and Gobta as our 'Goblin Generals.' We'd promoted Gobta after putting him in complete control of the Goblin Riders, a separate division of our standing army that'd only answer to Benimaru and Ranga in practice. In reality, everyone answered to Big Bro above everything else, though.
The Goblin Riders were currently our most experienced military division, composed of the hundred members of the original village, along with their Tempest Wolf partners. Basically, each and every Goblin Rider, right now, was technically, in rank, somewhere slightly below Goblin Captains, though, as our numbers grew, their individual importance likely would, too.
Though, that'd only happen as a group, since each and every direwolf was, by the Voice of the World, considered to be part of a 'collective consciousness,' and therefore the exact same strength, give or take. The only exceptions to this rule were the two Named Beta Wolves that Rigur and Gobta rode, Ranta and Rango respectively, who were both around an A-minus in rank. As an aside, Rigur was the only hobgoblin with a Tempest Wolf partner, who wasn't part of the Goblin Riders. Frankly, he needed his wolf partner's speed in order to carry out all of his various duties.
Also, Raya wasn't considered to be part of this 'collective consciousness' anymore. Apparently, Ranga had basically gifted her to me when I'd named her, making her the 'alpha' of a new 'pack' composed of just her, that was only subordinate to me. She wasn't even the same species as the rest of them, anymore. She'd been affected by my taking in of Izzy, turning her into a white and black Tempest Blazewolf slightly weaker than Ranga.
As for the other three hundred or so goblins in our military, they were split pretty evenly between Benimaru's Flare Division and Rigur's Security Division.
Rigur's security force was composed of around 150 goblins. We'd decided to separate them into Grades, rather than ranks, to differentiate our defensive forces from the rest of our standing military. Right now, we had everyone under Rigur separated into Grades. There were three Second Grade goblins, who each had five Third Grade goblins underneath them. Each of those guys would then command a squad of ten, who would patrol a certain points near town. Since they couldn't cover too much ground, we were relying rather heavily on the Goblin Riders for now, but since we planned to eventually grow our population into the thousands, Big Bro expected Rigur's division to eventually grow to the point where we didn't technically need the Riders at all. We wanted to turn the Riders into our 'wild cards,' eventually.
Benimaru's Flare Division was ranked similarly, except based on military ranks, rather than anything else. He had three Majors, each commanding five Captain soldiers apiece. These Captains would then each command around ten or so Privates. When the division got bigger, he planned to add a bunch of different ranks, like Sergeant and Lieutenant, but for now, the numbers weren't big enough to require that much differentiation.
For now, since we needed to move quickly, we left the Flare Division back in Tempest under Rigur's command. If we failed, the plan was for them to help with the evacuation to the Treant's village, while we waited for human backup. We'd already sent a Goblin Rider messenger, just in case.
