Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Fleeting Ferocity

As a Solaris with a highly impoverished vocabulary for cursing, Scar had never believed before that someone could anger him with a single sentence.

Now he believes it.

As the supervisor of Fractsidus, the words he hears most often are things like "cruel," "demon," and "will receive retribution"—words that are neither painful nor itchy.

This is truly the first time someone has greeted his family.

"Looking for death!"

Scar's gaze turned cold, his body slightly crouched, his knees suddenly exerting force, like a sharp arrow released from a drawn bow, crossing three floating small islands and shooting toward Noah.

A kick wreathed in flames came down, cracking the ground beneath his feet with explosion-like fissures.

Noah had no doubt that this kick from Scar could easily shatter two steel plates.

But he not only showed no trace of fear—instead, his blood boiled within him, and a smile with an inexplicable meaning faintly appeared on his face. In his heart, he secretly speculated:

A very classic Scar opening move, so the follow-up combo should be—

Sure enough, several hidden poker cards were flung out by Scar, and closely following the poker cards was Scar's fierce spinning kick.

Noah's mouth curved up. He didn't take it head-on but instead retreated backward, leaping onto another floating small island while provocatively shouting:

"Scar, your mom is a bitch."

"What did you say!"

Scar flew into a rage. Two poker cards precisely flew into the gap in the air while Noah was suspended, but they were fixed in place by Noah with time stop. He lightly caught the poker cards and exerted force to send them back.

Bang! Bang!

Explosions rang out, and those two poker cards burst into black smoke in mid-air.

Scar crossed through the explosive smoke in mid-air, his cold gaze revealing undisguised killing intent as both feet kicked toward Noah.

As expected, this strike missed once again.

Two poker cards were gripped in Scar's hands, transforming into blade edges that drew fiery red arcs in the air, diagonally slashing toward Noah at his side.

However, Noah cleverly shifted right half a step, lightly and casually dodging this fierce attack, then shifted left half a step, dodging once more the diagonal slash that closely followed from the other direction.

He drew back, opening the distance again and leaping onto another floating small island.

The two of them repeatedly advanced and retreated, unknowingly moving far away from the position of the Whisperin Erosion.

With attack after attack falling empty, the coldness on Scar's face had gradually transformed into anger. He couldn't help but berate:

"Vile rat, is all you know how to do is dodge?"

"So what?"

Noah's gaze inadvertently glanced toward Scar's back.

In the distance, Yangyang and the others were fighting the Fractsidus members near the Whisperin Erosion.

The slightly more powerful Fractsidus Resonators had already been preemptively detected and dealt with by him using his perception.

In addition, he had already preemptively dealt with a large number of Fractsidus members at Zhongqu Terrace before.

At this moment, only ordinary Fractsidus members were left for Yangyang; they should be able to handle them.

Moreover, the strongest one, Scar, had already been pulled into aggro and drawn to the distance by him, so there was no need to worry anymore about going all out in combat and injuring the citizens of Jinzhou.

With his thoughts turning rapidly, a smile finally appeared on Noah's face.

At the same time, a change occurred around them.

A red semicircular barrier appeared out of thin air, completely sealing him and Scar on this small island that was only the size of a basketball court.

"Hehehe, did you really think I was being led around by the nose the whole time?"

Scar covered his face and laughed maniacally. Blood-red aura vigorously burned around his body, and his eyes were full of crazy pleasure:

"Actually, I prepared this barrier long ago. With a little trickery, I drove you here. Now that you're completely trapped, let's see where you can escape!"

"Then you're so awesome."

Contrary to Scar's expectations, the man opposite not only showed no panic but instead casually raised his hand and clapped for him:

"Want me to praise you some more?"

A chill suddenly crawled inch by inch up Scar's spine to the back of his head.

He suddenly had an illusion—

It was as if he were the challenger?

The moment this thought arose, Scar immediately snuffed it out. He no longer hesitated and raised his hand to grab a handful of poker cards, flinging them toward Noah.

Meanwhile, Noah seemingly casually paced left and right with an air of nonchalance, yet he dodged every single poker card cleanly.

Scar tightly furrowed his brows, sending all the remaining poker cards in his hand flying out together. His figure concealed itself behind the poker cards as he pounced forward like a tiger gathering its strength.

His gaze met Noah's across the poker cards dancing in mid-air.

In that instant, Scar seemed to read from those deep eyes a surging fanaticism hidden beneath the calm sea surface.

This guy didn't seem to treat him as a person at all but rather as a game BOSS with a health bar floating above its head.

Commando of Conviction instantly appeared in Noah's hand. He keenly seized the flaw that Scar revealed for only an instant in mid-air and swung the blade in a diagonal chop!

What a fast blade! What sharp killing intent!

Under this sudden change, Scar had no time to react at all. He was slashed on his abdomen where his guard was wide open, his custom combat suit was cut open, and the first wound appeared on his body.

Then came the second, third, and fourth!

Flicker Counter!

After four slashes, Noah drew back to open the distance, sheathed his blade, and his white casual outfit remained spotless.

The killing intent that Scar had felt earlier was buried along with the swift sheathing of the blade, as if it had never appeared. The edge of the man before him was gone, making him seem like a mild-mannered passerby.

The pain transmitting from his body made Scar draw in a cold breath. His Resonance ability activated, and the originally bleeding wounds were squeezed by spatial power, forcibly stopping the bleeding:

"Weird guy... you've got some skill. What's your name?"

"Before I answer that question, I have one I want to ask too."

"Speak."

Noah stared fixedly at Scar, his breathing even becoming heavy as he asked:

"Where is Rover?"

This was the question Noah wanted to know the most.

Ever since he hadn't been able to find Rover in Cloud Ridge Valley, he had started to believe that the plot of Wuthering Waves had deviated.

And since transmigrating, the first change he knew of was Fractsidus' Scar invading Jinzhou.

It could be said that Fractsidus was the chief culprit behind the plot deviation and the root source of all butterfly effects.

Since Rover hadn't appeared in Yunling Valley, it was very likely that Fractsidus had kidnapped him first.

"Rover? Hehe, so you came for Rover."

Scar covered his face and sneered.

Rover? Who was Rover? He didn't know him.

But Scar guessed that Rover was probably one of those Jinzhou civilians who had been polluted into idiots.

"Quickly tell me, where is Rover?"

Noah's tone grew urgent, but Scar merely shook his head slightly. Killing intent surged in his eyes, yet his tone was extremely playful:

"You want to know that badly? Beat me, and I'll tell you!"

He had originally thought this guy had some strength and wanted to recruit him into Fractsidus, but it turned out this guy had come for that whatever Rover.

However, the civilians of Jinzhou City had basically all been polluted into idiots by the Whisperin Erosion. Even Fractsidus currently had no way to reverse this Threnodian pollution.

Therefore, Fractsidus had already formed a grudge with this person.

Since he couldn't be recruited, then—there was only one option left: destroy him!

At this time, Scar still didn't know that because of his feigned mystery, he would attract what kind of brutal beating.
