Chapter 75 - Ch. 75: The Sonic Tempest

My body was hurting quite a bit. Moving my arm was pretty painful at this point, and my gut felt inflamed, but Tater wasn't any better off. Part of his face was already turning purple, and the rest of his body was covered in cuts and bruises, one of the straps on his battle armor having completely snapped off sometime during the fight.

Hovering back to eye-level with the behemoth, I thought through my possible tactics here.

A head-on collision of pure power and skill? Not out of the question… but I couldn't properly react when his power overcharged to more than twice my own, nor could I perfectly predict when that would happen. I needed to analyze him first. Get a better feel for the way Tater's fighting style had changed in the last four years.

So, I stood there in midair, waiting for him to come to me.

And Tater doesn't disappoint. Roaring, he charged at me, his power exploding once again as he allowed his rage to take over. Make him stronger.

Make him predictable.

When he got close enough that he readied himself to deliver a powerful shoulder check to me, I vanished from the spot, leaving an afterimage that only lasted for a moment before he plowed through it with the sound of something shattering.

"What the?!" He only had a moment to gasp in surprise before my form flickered behind him, landing a devastating kick right to the back of his neck, causing his body to plunge forward from the shock, as his rage overcharged his power level once again.

Only for me to land a jab to his side, causing his strength to plummet like a rock, as he roared in pain.

In response, my form flickered again. This time, with how low his power was, comparable to his normal self, I had enough of an advantage that one single finger was more than enough to draw blood.

The cut suddenly appeared across the large, angry behemoth's chest, going straight through his old battle armor like it was made of paper or butter.

The final strap of his armor was cleaved straight through, making the upper part of the armor, shattered, fall off of his body, not connected to the rest of it anymore.

A moment later, blood spurted out from the cut like a fountain.

Still, to a Saiyan as big and pissed off as Tater was, that level of blood loss was basically nothing. It just made him roar with rage, his power rippling out from his body in a very visible manner.

My fist flickered, slamming into his face in response, before vanishing faster than he could possibly react to.

Landing on one of the many discs of ki I'd left floating about in the air as footholds, I only slowed for an instant as I repeated what I'd been doing, to bring myself into a better angle to attack again.

And again.

What I was doing was simple, in theory, but devastatingly effective.

I called it my 'Sonic Tempest' technique. Battering Tater from multiple angles by utilizing my Hyper Motion Technique repeatedly.

Even with twice as much raw power as I had, if I was moving almost too fast for my own perceptions, there wasn't a chance of Tater being able to react. To him, it must've felt like being repeatedly battered by a powerful wind.

He tried to react by punching the air, either trying to follow my movements or anticipate them, but I was moving far too fast. Every time, I easily dodged his fist and the resulting shockwave with the ease and grace of a seasoned dancer, only appearing as a flicker to Tater's senses, at best, as the Sonic Tempest battered him around.

I didn't hold back. Every attack was targeted, designed specifically to deal as much damage as possible. I knew that this advantage would only last as long as the technique did, and even if Tater didn't figure it out pretty soon, the fact that it relied on repeatedly using my Hyper Motion Technique meant that I couldn't use it for very long.

My Hyper Motion Technique was a great technique that allowed me to move faster than my normal limits, but it had multiple very big flaws.

Basically, the essence of the technique was built from the instant motion techniques that I'd observed Master Roshi utilize during his fight with Old Gohan, and his later battle with me.

Roshi channeled his ki to his feet, creating what was effectively a minor explosion to propel himself quicker than he'd normally be able to.

My technique was a bit different. I didn't just channel ki, I channeled ki in three separate 'ghost kick' waves, kicking off twice with my physical foot, all before my other foot ever left the ground. The idea came from another anime, and it worked scarily well in person. With my full power, I could propel myself almost faster than my own natural perception could follow. It almost raised my speed in my base form all the way to a level comparable to my speed in SSJP, though not quite.

But the backlash was fairly intense. Already, it felt like my feet were in almost as much pain as my injured arm. I wouldn't be able to keep it up for much longer.

And then, Tater let out a roar.

And the world tilted on its axis.
