After Dr. Brief and Bulma's visit to Fire Eater Island, things around the village settled into a steady pace. My goal of making a Bansho Fan ended up put on the backburner for now, as my daily schedule became more and more clustered, between training, my own research, and testing the training aids that Doctor Hyperion would make with Doctor Briefs' input. The two scientists spoke almost every day, exchanging ideas and theories constantly.
In fact, somewhere along the way, our little village became an official partner to Capsule Corp. I suspected that the reason for this was tied entirely around the fact that, having dealt with all of that back on his homeworld of Celatus, Doctor Hyperion didn't much care for money, fame, or the world of business anymore.
In less than a year, the doctors created a working gravity chamber inside the village, powered by Zeck's research, a ki-energy converter, which transferred ki into stable electricity (I suspected that Zeck only managed to finish it by getting some advice from Bulma over holographic conference).
The training clothes that I'd once begged Hyperion for became stronger, denser, as the scientists inched closer to their goal of making a set of training clothes that could actually slow me down at full throttle.
But the greatest boon of that time was that I'd finally cracked some of the secrets to Saiyan genetics, and the Super Saiyan Primal transformation.
I'd finally figured it out
It all started with the tail.
A Saiyan's tail had three basic functions. The cells in the tail were capable of converting Blutz Waves into usable energy, which I coined 'Blutz Energy'. The tail would then store that energy for later use.
While normal solar rays seemed to interfere with the gathering of this energy, it didn't actually stop a Saiyan from gathering Blutz Energy passively during the day, through their skin, similar to how a plant photosynthesizes. It was just far less efficient.
But once a large burst of Blutz Waves hit the spine and travelled down through to the tail for conversion and storage, generally through the eyes, as the skin cells couldn't handle that much Blutz with as much ease, the cells in the tail would send a signal to the S-Cells, which would then spread that signal throughout the body via a hormone, allowing for the Blutz Energy to be used to enhance a Saiyan across the board.
This was the Oozaru Form. In it, everything was totally maximized, mainly protein synthesis. Food would be converted with nearly zero in the way of waste, and it barely burdened the body at all, with the only side-effect being the fact that the hormone created a temporary mutation in the cells, causing them to go into overdrive, transforming the Saiyan's entire body from head to toe into a gigantic ape with massive rage issues, with nine-tenths of their power drawn straight from an insanely large wellspring of Blutz Energy.
My own Super Saiyan Primal form worked on a different principle, though. With that form, my brain was sending the signal to my S-Cells, creating the link between the wellspring of Blutz Energy and the rest of my body without any outside trigger.
That meant that the hormone that allowed for the use of my Blutz Energy reserve wasn't influenced by the activation signal from the tail at all, and, for some reason, caused almost nothing in the way of mutation due to that fact.
That meant that there were clear limitations to the form, unlike the Oozaru's theoretically limitless power, but it also meant that, without the need to waste so much energy on the massive physical changes that came with the Oozaru, as well as the extra energy required to move a gigantic body, Super Saiyan Primal was around ten times more efficient in every meaning of the word.
Still, though, neither of these transformations worked the same as the Super Saiyan form that I remembered from the anime, on a fundamental level.
Both seemed to place more effort on bolstering the base body to be able to handle the massive amount of Blutz Energy from the tail's reservoir, or the meager reserves of unused Blutz Energy that tended to hang out in the Saiyan's bloodstream.
Basically the exact opposite of the Super Saiyan transformation that I remembered, which boosted energy in a way that these transformations fundamentally didn't.
It was like two sides of the same coin. I fully understood now, why combining them led to the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation seen in Broly, turning someone with a base power level on the million level into someone capable of rivaling a Super Saiyan Blue or higher.
I couldn't even imagine the exponential explosion of power that combining the two transformation lines would become.
As an aside, now that I understood the theory behind the Super Saiyan Primal transformation, Pepper and Lynn were looking into achieving it for themselves, by trying to figure out how to control the trigger that resulted in the Oozaru transformation, going through it over and over again to memorize the feeling and try to influence it.
So far, they'd had limited success. Apparently, it required a talent for analysis that I'd been lucky enough to already have. A rare talent in Saiyans.
It was probably more likely for a Saiyan to have Broly's natural talent for controlling the transformation.
