Due to the fact that I'd already pushed my Primal form to its limits during training early today, the form only lasted about fifteen minutes or so for my walk back to my apartment in town. About a minute after I opened my door and stepped inside, my height, muscles, and light-colored hair all vanished, not that I really minded.
Checking my bedroom for errant Peppers concealing their strength, I gathered my sleepwear from my dresser. Then, I took a short evening shower before checking my apartment for stray Peppers once more, then walking into the room I'd added to the house about six months ago, my study.
My study was really just an empty room with a table in the middle. The table was a large Celatian-style computer that projected a three dimensional image above it when turned on.
It didn't take me long to sync the satellite to my computer, and download the data that'd already been gathered from the satellite's planetary topology scanner, which was basically just a fancy mapping tool.
Before long, I had a detailed 3D map of the world, from the southeastern seas where we were, all the way to Yanzubit Heights in the far northwest.
Immediately, I got to work highlighting areas in overlay mode. The first overlay I created was a basic-of-basics. Interesting places related to powerful, good-allied fighters that I was certain wouldn't change.
West City got a grey mark. Capsule Corp.
Our own island got a grey mark. Us.
Unfortunately, those were the only ones that I knew about. I knew the rough locations of Gohan and Roshi, but I knew that Roshi could capsulize his house and move it, and even if I knew Gohan's exact location, I also knew that Goku wouldn't live there for the rest of his life.
I wanted to put the location of Korin's tower on this map somewhere, but unfortunately, all I knew was that it was a forest. Without being able to sense his energy, I'd have to actually search for it.
As I switched to another color to highlight the areas that I knew where people would be living, at least temporarily, such as Fire Mountain, Roshi's Island, and Mt. Paoz, the mapping image flickered, then went dark.
A moment later, an error message appeared above the table.
"Error, Signal lost…? Download Interrupted…?" I read out. "...Dammit, what happened?"
Immediately, I attempted to use my computer to figure out what happened to the satellite. Unfortunately, connecting to most of the satellite's systems was a no go. They were either damaged or simply gone.
In fact, the only intact system left was the tracking chip we'd embedded into the deepest, most secure part of the satellite.
"Dammit…" A tracking chip that was apparently not in space anymore.
It was on Mount Paoz.
"...Seriously, Goku? Is this going to be a common thing?" I couldn't help but ask myself, staring at the blinking dot on the screen, laid over the corrupted bits of the map file that I'd managed to piece together from the map data that I'd been able to download before the satellite lost functionality.
My new, corrupted patchwork map didn't actually show Mt. Paoz. That was a blank spot, but I remembered where it'd been on the original map.
Somehow, even as a baby, Goku'd managed to pop in late, at the absolute worst possible time. His ship must've crashed right into the satellite we'd sent up. With the durability of Frieza Force technology, it'd probably plowed right through it and just kept on going.
With an exasperated expression on my face, I changed my clothes again. Since this version of Goku… Kakarot… probably still had his Saiyan mental programming in his mind, I chose to wear my old Frieza Force armor, brushing the dust off of it.
Celatians didn't have the technology to replicate Frieza Force materials like this, so Pepper and the others still tended to wear their old armor when they needed to transform into the Oozaru, but not me, since I could fully control the ape's energy in my Primal transformation, I never really bothered with the more cumbersome Oozaru.
Once I was dressed, I grabbed Lynn, Pepper, and Zeck, and we headed out to collect the remains of our satellite.
I didn't bother inviting Tommy or Tater. Knowing them, Tommy might've been interested, but not enough to pry him away from his desk, and Tater would've scoffed at the idea.
Actually, I hadn't really invited Pepper, either. I'd just figured that Lynn would've been great for dealing with the baby Kakarot, and she'd invited herself.
I'd invited Zeck, despite the fact that, being almost incapable of flight, he'd slow us down considerably, only because he had the same right to see what'd happened to the satellite that I did, since he'd helped us develop it.
Dammit, Kakarot… That satellite took us months to finish and calibrate!
