The supermarket was on the second floor of the cafeteria and was quite spacious. It had over a dozen rows of neatly arranged shelves filled with snacks and daily necessities.
Dozens of people were sitting cross-legged on the floor, heads bowed in fear and anxiety. They included students and shop assistants. There was even a man holding a blood-stained iron rod, yelling into his phone.
"A bunch of useless trash, they won't even answer Young Master's calls. Damn it all."
The man in the suit kicked the nearby shelf, and the sound of things falling made two young girls sob quietly, which annoyed him even more. He continued to curse, "What are you crying for? If you cry again, I'll kill you! Damn, bit me for no reason, acting like a rabid dog."
The repeated rejection tone from the phone chilled him to the bone.
Fan Sze-Zhe's breathing became a little rapid, and his body felt inexplicably hot. His vision began to blur, and he shook his head to try and clear it. He looked at the bite on his abdomen, and a bad feeling washed over him.
No way, this can't be happening...
Stepping over a corpse, Fan Sze-Zhe walked to the glass door. The roller shutter blocked the view outside.
The windows to the east and west were both obscured by pine trees, the crimson sky a blurry, unsettling red.
The screams echoing from the school building, mixed with the reverberations of the plane crash, caused Fan Sze-Zhe to pace back and forth, deep in thought. The sound of his footsteps made everyone's nerves crawl.
No one dared to speak, no matter what he did. Even the two young girls were tightly clutching their mouths, terrified of drawing his attention, only tears streaming down their faces.
The body on the ground was his doing, after all.
"You, get out there and take a look!"
Fan Sze-Zhe pointed at a skinny boy in the group.
No one responded, or rather, no one dared to look up to see who he was pointing at.
"Damn it, you all want to die, huh! I'm talking to you!" With that, Fan Sze-Zhe kicked the skinny boy.
"Ah~" The skinny boy cried out in pain, shakily getting to his feet and fearfully saying, "Big brother… don't… don't kill me…"
"Cut the crap. Get out there and take a look, or do I have to throw you out the window!"
"I'll go out… I'll go out."
Weighing the pros and cons, the skinny boy chose the former.
Although he didn't know what was happening outside, the screams had quieted down, so his courage grew a little.
The roller shutter door was pulled down, revealing a blood-red scene outside, as if coated in a dark film.
"Ghost!"
The skinny boy had only taken a few steps before letting out a terrified scream, startling Fan Sze-Zhe behind him, who cursed, "Damn it, what are you screaming about?"
"Ghosts~ There's a ghost~"
Following the boy's finger, Fan Sze-Zhe saw someone carrying a sword, with something like a ball in their hand. Upon closer inspection, it was a bloodied head.
"Holy shit, close the door!"
Even someone like Fan Sze-Zhe, who had been in the underworld for many years, couldn't stroll around leisurely while carrying a human head. He realized this person's behavior was abnormal, too weird.
Ye Xin had killed his way to the cafeteria. His experience points totaled just over ten. Because the zombie outbreak had just begun, most students were in class, so there weren't many zombies on the road.
The reason he was carrying the head was to see if there was a Crystal Core in the zombie's skull.
A scream caught Ye Xin's attention. He looked up and saw a skinny boy.
He guessed it was a student here, scared and running away.
Ye Xin smirked in the direction the person had disappeared.
Digging out Crystal Cores was a bit disgusting; it was good someone else was taking care of it.
He reached the roller shutter door in a few steps.
Clang—
The roller shutter door had already closed halfway. Ye Xin arrived at the entrance. Inside the door, two people, one in a suit and the other in a school uniform, were staring at him in terror through the glass door.
"I suggest you open the door yourselves," Ye Xin warned from the doorway.
"You murderer, only a fool would open it for you!"
Fan Sze-Zhe obviously wasn't buying it. Only after the roller shutter door closed, blocking Ye Xin from view, did he breathe a sigh of relief.
Calming himself, Fan Sze-Zhe glanced around and found everyone was staring at him. He angrily said, "What are you all staring at me for!"
"There's..."
"Damn it, what are you yelling about again, scaring the hell out of..."
Fan Sze-Zhe seemed to sense something. He smelled a mix of jasmine and gardenia. He turned around to look, not knowing how to describe his feelings.
He saw a spatial tear suddenly rip open, and a little girl wearing a Flowing Fairy Dress emerged from it. She opened her mouth and, pinching her nose, said coquettishly, "It's so stuffy and smelly, how can you all stand it?"
This question made everyone present extremely embarrassed, but no one dared to answer. Although the girl was very cute, the way she appeared out of nowhere was terrifying.
"Wuwu..."
"What's wrong with this world..."
"Gulp…" Fan Sze-Zhe swallowed, and slowly asked, "You… are you a person… or a ghost?"
"Oh, don't cry! I am a Fairy. The one outside is a Demon. With this princess here, you don't need to be afraid. Open the door."
She was a Spatial Ability user in the late second rank. She could perform spatial jumps of up to ten meters, but her restraining ability was only controllable within a one-meter range, and the duration of control depended on the opponent's strength.
"The two of you, come closer and open the door. Later, you'll distract him while I talk," Su Duo-Duo ordered.
The two who were pointed at immediately retreated. They would rather believe that the murderer outside was an angel than trust this woman. She was smiling there, as if scheming something.
"Looks like I have to teach you all a lesson, you really think this princess is easy to talk to!"
Su Duo-Duo was furious. No one dared to go against her wishes, except for her family. She gathered spatial energy in her small hand, and a Light Blade gradually formed, shining with starlight in the room. In the blink of an eye, the Light Blade shot towards Fan Sze-Zhe.
Everyone only felt a flash of starlight, and then they heard Fan Sze-Zhe's scream.
"Ah~"
Another skinny boy saw Fan Sze-Zhe's miserable state and immediately knelt on the ground, head bowed, pleading, "Goddess… Goddess Bodhisattva, don't kill me… I'll do whatever you say."
"It's just a hand lost. Now, go stand by the door! Open the door and distract him for this princess!"
"Lost a hand?" Fan Sze-Zhe clutched his empty right hand. The pain contorted his expression. To survive, he could only endure the agony and follow orders, but the pain in his eyes filled his nerves with a burning red. After a moment, he didn't feel the pain; instead, he was filled with power, but his consciousness was becoming increasingly blurred.
Ye Xin outside the door didn't know what was happening inside. He was preparing to kick the glass door down violently, or if that didn't work, use his knife to hack it down.
Before he could act, the roller shutter door opened itself. The one who opened the door was a young boy, his grip on the handle trembling slightly, as if he were welcoming a demon.
Ye Xin was a little stunned. Could there be something suspicious about being so cooperative?
