Tama's eyes widened.
But Yuuki's stare was clean and sincere—he wasn't joking.
"Young master… when you said you were 'counting on me,' you meant…?"
Yuuki answered without thinking.
"Taking care of Miss Wajou's daily needs for a while. Teaching her maid skills after she recovers. A lot of things. That's why I asked you to come—so you could get used to her."
"Then… your basis for saying you can cure her in two years is…?"
"Connections," Yuuki said smoothly. "The kind you build managing a family for years. I know a dollmaker—ah, no. A doctor. Yes. A medical doctor."
"…You didn't already know my ability?"
"If I did, why would I be asking you?"
The more Yuuki answered, the worse Tama's expression became—until her face was basically black with disbelief.
"…So I messed up?"
"No. You did great. You just gave my plan a new possibility."
Yuuki glanced toward Kirie, who had settled back onto the bed and was waiting quietly, and motioned for Tama to step outside with him.
On the back of Tama's head, cold sweat started multiplying.

Tama sat on the floor like someone who'd accepted defeat, explaining weakly.
"Through exchanging bodily fluids, I can trade my vitality with someone else. And my bloodline is… special in my family. Whether it's illness, poison, or physical injury, I heal about five or six times faster than normal."
What she had done was transfer a small portion of the damage inside Kirie's body into her own through fluid exchange—wait for it to recover—then transfer it back.

Tama scooted away from the bedside, increasing the distance, and muttered under her breath:
"I thought once you found a different 'older sister role,' I'd be safe… should've just played dumb and brushed it off…"
"By the way," Yuuki said, glancing at Tama's leg, "that limp… was fake?"

"I'm not mad," Yuuki said. "I'm just… thinking."
If Tama hadn't been absent, Yuuki wouldn't have had to pick up Fujino himself. If he hadn't gone to pick her up, he wouldn't have taken that shortcut no normal person would take.
