Chapter 97 - Looks Like My Luck Isn’t So Bad After All

Kurosaki Rei did manage to pull out something legitimate—unfortunately, it was still useless junk.

He had originally planned to toss the bottle of shampoo straight away, but after glancing at its decent quality, he decided to put it into his storage space anyway, counting it as loot from the Fallen One's Chest.

"I refuse to believe I can't pull something good!"

Kurosaki Rei pumped himself up, taking out all the remaining Fallen One's Chests, determined to open them all in one go.

...

After a series of blood-pressure–spiking unboxings, Kurosaki Rei finally brought this torment to an end. He seriously suspected those explorers had deliberately stuffed their storage spaces full of trash.

To be honest, he could understand the fairy wand.

But carrying Blu-rays around in a mission world—were you even able to watch them!?

Fortunately, he did pull out two items that were actually worth something, which calmed his rage a little.

Godslayer

Origin: Endpoint Space

Quality: Purple

Type: Sniper Rifle

Magazine Capacity: 10

Requirements: 15 Spirit, 20 Strength, Basic Firearms Specialization

Description:

A sniper rifle produced by Endpoint Space, obtained through an explorer's loot box. It has excellent adaptability; its damage ceiling depends on the user.

Equipment Skill 1: Focus (Passive)

Effect: When using Godslayer to aim and lock onto a target, the user enters a focused state more easily, increasing shooting accuracy.

Equipment Skill 2: Godslayer (Active)

Effect: Consumes a certain amount of Soul Source to activate. Imbues the bullet with the user's spirit, greatly increasing projectile speed and power, and allowing damage to incorporeal entities. The higher the user's Spirit stat, the greater the damage bonus.

Cooldown: 5 seconds

Score: 195

Evaluation: An outstanding sniper rifle—if it finds the right owner.

During the earlier fight, Kurosaki Rei had dodged the sniper's bullets several times, and later even tanked them head-on without injury. That had made him think the sniper's gun was trash.

So when he'd felt a gun barrel inside the Fallen One's Chest, he'd hesitated.

Now that he saw the stats, though, the weapon genuinely impressed him.

Just as Endpoint Space's evaluation said—the sniper himself was the problem, not the gun. Godslayer was an excellent purple-quality long-range main weapon, arguably the most valuable piece of equipment that explorer team possessed.

It was clearly far beyond what that team should've been able to afford. According to the description, the sniper had pulled it from a world-clear reward chest through sheer dumb luck.

Even compared to their leader's purple-quality sword, this rifle was on another level. That sword was probably just entry-level purple gear—otherwise Kurosaki Rei wouldn't have dared to catch it barehanded.

If it had been Demon-Imprisoning's level of sharpness and durability, Kurosaki Rei would never have tried that. Even with Armament Haki, he'd have lost limbs.

Kurosaki Rei had also noticed during the fight that, aside from the flamboyantly dressed female mage, the team's overall Spirit stats were mediocre. The sniper's Spirit barely met the minimum requirement to use Godslayer.

As a result, the weapon's true power was completely wasted on him.

Without activating its skill, Godslayer's base damage wasn't even comparable to top-tier sniper rifles from the Kengan world. Its firepower was merely average, and the rate of fire probably didn't even hit 800.

But in the hands of someone with high Spirit, this wouldn't be an ordinary sniper rifle at all—it would be a supernatural weapon. Its damage would skyrocket, and it could even hit spiritual entities.

For early-stage explorers, this counted as a premium long-range weapon.

Unfortunately, while Kurosaki Rei was proficient in countless martial disciplines and came from a relatively future-leaning world compared to most explorers, he wasn't particularly skilled with tech-based weapons.

He'd never been interested in firearms growing up. At best, he could use them competently; accuracy wasn't guaranteed.

So he planned to use this rifle casually while in this world, then sell it after returning.

If he really needed a ranged weapon, he preferred more "primitive" options like bows.

Besides Godslayer, he also pulled out another fairly valuable item.

Heart of the Giant

Origin: Native World No. 213126

Quality: Rare

Type: Accessory

Requirement: 15 Constitution

Description:

A pendant crafted by dwarven artisans, carrying their blessing toward the giants. When worn, Constitution +1 (effective only below 30 Constitution).

Equipment Skill 1: Immovable as a Mountain (Passive)

Effect: Reduces the effectiveness of control-type skills on the wearer by 50%. (This effect weakens as the enemy's strength increases.)

Equipment Skill 2: Heart of the Giant (Passive)

Effect: Increases maximum Life Source by 5%, natural Life Source regeneration by 20%, and boosts healing received from skills by 50%.

Note: This skill becomes inactive once the wearer's Constitution exceeds 50.

Score: 100+

Evaluation: A tank's favorite—stack the thickest armor, take the nastiest hits.

Kurosaki Rei ignored Endpoint Space's cheeky evaluation.

Although the raw stat bonuses were already useless to him, the two passive skills were genuinely solid and still applicable to his current build.

A max-score rare-tier main-tank accessory like this was worth around 10,000 Endcoin—far better than shampoo.

In the end, Kurosaki Rei tallied up the profits from those six explorers:

One purple weaponOne rare accessory5400 Endcoin in loose currencyOne Inheritance Crystal: Small

The total value came out to a bit over 40,000 Endcoin, which left him quite satisfied.

At that moment, he truly understood the old saying:

Killing and looting makes you rich.

In his previous world, he'd struggled desperately to defeat Shen Wulong and clear the entire world, yet after removing other rewards, he'd only earned about 40,000 Endcoin.

Here?

He'd just woken up early, had some tea, chopped down a few explorers from an opposing faction—and earned the same amount.

Kurosaki Rei realized that this world was packed with hidden benefits. If he played his cards right, he might get filthy rich in a single world.

Pushing aside those rosy future fantasies, Kurosaki Rei took out the final purple chest—the one dropped by Upper Rank Six.

Having already been traumatized by the Fallen One's Chests, he didn't hold much hope. He opened it casually.

What happened next caught him completely off guard.

The purple chest burst into dazzling light—just like those games he'd played before, the kind of glow that meant you hit the jackpot.

When the light and chest vanished, a pair of blood sickles appeared in Kurosaki Rei's hands.

Checking the stats, he raised an eyebrow.

This was a genuinely solid purple-quality dual-wield main weapon.

Even though the weapon type was somewhat niche, it would easily sell for at least 15,000 Endcoin after he returned.

After storing the blood sickles, Kurosaki Rei stretched lazily and lay back on the straw, gazing up at the sky.

Looks like my luck really isn't that bad after all.

He was already starting to look forward to the rewards from killing the other Upper Ranks.

With his luck?

He was confident he'd pull purple gear from every single one.

And if he killed Muzan…

Even a legendary drop didn't feel like an impossible dream anymore.
