In a world controlled by powerful clans, where mutated beasts roam free and cause havoc, humanity is forced to face them and live on edge every day. The rich and noble control all the resources of this world. There is a clear hierarchy between the rich and noble and the poor, who stand at the very bottom of society. In this world, a very few people gain power far beyond the ordinary, and these people are known as Transcendents.
They stand at the very top of society and control the world from the shadows. Everything and everyone lives according to the rules set by this group of people.
To those with transcendental powers, ordinary people—or those they deem low-class—are treated like animals. They believe themselves to be superior and far more noble than these lowly commoners.
There are six mega-cities in this world: Aeron, the capital city, surrounded by Velis, Noxvale, Caelon, Krythe, and Lyren.
However, these mega-cities are divided into two parts, and there is a world of difference between them.
The Inner City, reserved for the rich and noble, is complete with every facility one can imagine. People live lives of luxury and comfort, surrounded by top-notch security. On the other hand, the Outer City is utter chaos. Slums and incomplete buildings are everywhere, with garbage littering every corner and street. Gangs and criminals who engage in shady activities such as murder, arson, and gambling roam freely. Common people live in constant fear—both of mutated beast attacks and criminal gangs.
Ash Vire was born at the very bottom of society, in the city of Lyren. Although his family was not rich, his parents ran a small business and managed to make ends meet. Life was tough, but they were content. As for Ash, he was not overly talented or a genius—just a very ordinary boy.
He and his family lived a simple and peaceful life. He loved his parents and sister deeply.
But all of this changed forever on that unfortunate day.
When Ash returned home from his part-time job, he saw a large crowd gathered around his house, and an ominous feeling crept into his heart.
When he reached the front of his house, he saw it engulfed in flames. He clearly remembered that it was dinner time—everyone should have been inside. He desperately tried to save his family, but the flames would not let him through. He tried to call for help, but to no avail. It was as if someone did not want his family to survive.
And then, with his own eyes, he watched his loved ones—and their home—turn to ashes. He was powerless, desperate, and unable to do anything.
After this, Ash's life went downhill. He became deeply depressed, his temper volatile, and he grew angry easily. Once a cheerful and kind boy, his life turned into hell overnight.
After years of living in pain and self-blame, one day, he saw her.
The woman he had hated all his life.
