Chapter 106 - Chapter 105 England lost again

After Arsenal defeated Everton 4-1, the thirteenth round of the Premier League officially came to an end.

Before the match between Arsenal and Everton, Manchester United's game had already finished, with the final score being a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at their home ground.

This means that following the 0-0 stalemate against Manchester City at home in the twelfth round of the Premier League, Manchester United has now drawn two consecutive matches.

The points difference between the two sides has further widened to 12 points.

Currently, Arsenal sits at the top of the table with 37 points from 13 matches (12 wins, 1 draw), while Manchester United is in second place with 25 points from 13 undefeated matches (6 wins, 7 draws).

Yes, second place.

Because in the match that kicked off at the same time as Arsenal's, Chelsea surprisingly suffered a crushing 0-3 defeat to Sunderland at their home ground, Stamford Bridge.

This means that both Chelsea and Manchester United currently have 25 points, but Manchester United has overtaken Chelsea for second place due to a better goal difference.

The Blue Moon, Manchester City, also predictably faltered, drawing 0-0 once again at their home ground, Etihad. This time, however, their opponent was the relatively unknown Birmingham.

As of now, Manchester City temporarily sits in fourth place with 22 points.

It currently appears that the top four teams in the Premier League this season will basically be these four.

Oh, right, Liverpool, after showing off their might by winning 2-0 against Chelsea at home, have once again messed up in the subsequent two matches.

First, they drew 1-1 against Wigan Athletic in the twelfth round of the Premier League, and then in this round, they were thoroughly beaten 2-0 by Stoke City.

All I can say is, Liverpool, true to form!

Currently ranked eighteenth in the Premier League, this is Liverpool's true strength.

If Fly didn't have memories from his previous life, it would be truly unimaginable that such a poor team could achieve such a resurgence within a few years after Klopp took charge.

For Liverpool fans, Arsène Wenger must be an object of Respect.

Anyone who has experienced this dark period should not fail to thank Klopp; he is truly the person who allowed Liverpool to regain the dignity of a traditional giant.

At least at this stage, in Fly's eyes, Liverpool has no dignity whatsoever; they are purely a source of entertainment.

Fly is still bothered by the fact that in the first League match against Liverpool, they only managed to secure the win in the final ten minutes.

Against such a poor team, they should have dominated from the very first minute of the match.

How could they play out a script where the opponent scores first and then they stage a comeback?

It's too cliché!

After the match against Everton concluded, the international break began, and Fly could take this opportunity to rest for a while.

Taylor accompanied Fly during this period, staying at home and enjoying some exclusive time together.

"Dear, I won't be able to watch your North London Derby against Tottenham on the 20th. That day is the American Music Awards ceremony, and I have to attend. I might even win an award. Sorry..."

Upon hearing this, although Fly felt a bit disappointed, he still nodded, expressing his support and understanding for Taylor's career.

"It's okay, elder sister, the American Music Awards is a big award, you definitely have to attend." He stroked Taylor's golden hair, feeling the tickle in his palm, and breathed a puff of air into her ear.

Taylor wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's neck and looked directly into Fly's eyes with her Persian cat-like gaze.

"Dear, I'll make it up to you properly after I'm done with this busy period. We'll relax well during Christmas and New Year this year."

Hearing this, Fly stammered, "Uh... well, elder sister, I'm afraid we won't be able to relax, we still have matches then."

Hearing her boyfriend say this, Taylor was completely shocked: "What? There are matches during Christmas? Are you kidding me?"

Fly nodded, looking as if it were the most natural thing in the world, "Yeah, professional sports Leagues in the United States usually have games during Christmas too!"

"Doesn't the NBA have Christmas Day games every year? The Premier League also has a Christmas schedule."

"Basically, the most congested period for matches every year is around this time."

After receiving confirmation from her boyfriend, Taylor was utterly speechless.

What the heck? She can't even properly celebrate Christmas with her boyfriend?

What kind of ridiculous rules are these!

For a moment, Taylor wanted to accuse the Premier League of being inhumane for making players work on Christmas, the most important Western holiday.

Isn't this violating statutory holidays?

After thinking for a moment, Taylor realized it wasn't realistic.

Because many professions in the United States don't stop working during Christmas.

Especially players; the more famous they are, the more they have to play during important holidays, which is quite tough.

However, the average audience usually doesn't care about this.

Because they think that since players earn so much money a year, isn't it right for them to work hard?

Taylor's way of thinking is different from the average audience; she doesn't believe that earning a lot means you have to agree to unreasonable demands.

After all, earning a lot means that person is capable, and isn't it right for capable people to earn more?

Taylor feels that her strong earning ability is because her musical talent far surpasses ordinary people, and the songs she creates are loved by the public, so she should earn a lot.

Similarly, in her heart, although Fly doesn't earn much now, with her man's strength, he will definitely earn a lot in the future.

After all, for an alien averaging two goals per game, isn't it right for him to earn more than others?

"Okay, fine. Anyway, I'll be in London then. Come home with me after your matches. I'll go watch the games during that time."

Taylor could only give in in the end. She couldn't possibly encourage her boyfriend to openly defy the team and refuse to play during Christmas, could she?

Perhaps Arsène Wenger might actually agree, as the old man has always been very concerned about Fly's health.

But Taylor couldn't encourage this; it's not what a good wife should do.

If she really ended up making her boyfriend look bad both internally and externally, Taylor would truly be greatly at fault.

Seeing his girlfriend calm down, the tension in Fly's heart finally eased.

He was afraid that Taylor would ask him to make unreasonable demands of the team, which would make things very difficult for him.

Although Fly was confident that even if he requested time off and didn't play during Christmas, Arsène Wenger wouldn't say much.

But doing something that would negatively affect the team's atmosphere is absolutely not something Fly, as Arsenal's golden boy, could do.

He had that much self-awareness.

If he ruined the team's atmosphere for his own selfish desires, he would ultimately suffer the backlash himself.

After all, if Arsenal's internal atmosphere had problems, how could they win matches and win championships on the field?

Sometimes, it's just insignificant little things that can erupt at crucial moments and deal a heavy blow to the entire team, causing a season's worth of effort to go to waste.

This is entirely possible.

Fly does not want Arsenal to do something so foolish as losing honors due to non-sporting factors within the team.

If something like that really happened, Fly would probably be heartbroken.

Fortunately, Taylor's emotional intelligence has always been high, and she doesn't make excessive demands of her boyfriend.

This is also an important reason why Fly and Taylor have gotten along so well over the years.

...

November 18th.

The England National Team played a friendly match against France.

The final score was England losing 1-2 to France.

How to put it? All I can say is, England indeed doesn't disappoint!

Every time they face a team with a similar squad on paper, the losing side is always England.

Almost without exception!

Even though this match was just a friendly, France was already leading England 2-0 within 50 minutes.

It wasn't until several starters were substituted off that England finally scored their only goal of the match in the 86th minute through Peter Crouch.

Anyway, a 1-2 score looks better than 0-2, right?

Many England fans were consoling themselves this way.

Of course, there were also quite a few England fans who were dissatisfied with this match!

After all, everyone who understands knows how poor England's performance in major tournaments has been over the years.

Although England fans are famously known as football hooligans worldwide, they are not fools!

They know how bad their National Football Team is when it comes to tough matches!

Even if England was unfairly treated by Germany in the World Cup that ended this year in South Africa, which led to their loss.

What about the previous matches?

Does anyone remember how long it has been since England won a knockout stage match in a major tournament?

Fly even remembers that in his previous life, England didn't achieve their first knockout stage victory in the European Cup until the 2021 European Cup.

What does this mean?

The European Cup has been around for decades.

Yet England's first knockout stage victory in the European Cup had to wait until 2021.

This means that at this point in time, England has never won even a single knockout stage match in the European Cup.

Understanding this, you should have some idea of how poor England's performance in tough matches is, right?

Calling them the "Europe China Team" is truly not an exaggeration.

At least the National Football Team has won the Asian Cup runner-up and has beaten Japan and South Korea a few times in major tournaments.

England, on the other hand, has achieved a "miracle" in the European Cup by never winning a single knockout stage match, and their first breakthrough had to wait until 2021, which is simply "outrageous."

The long-term poor performance in major tournaments has also made the media on Fleet Street very harsh towards the England National Team, with their sarcasm and ridicule being no less intense than the domestic media's criticism of the National Football Team.
