Chapter 106 - Chapter 108 Prelude

  Chapter 108 Prelude

Kanroji Mitsuri reluctantly bid farewell to her family, her emotions unusually low.

She loved life in the Demon Slayer Corps.

Using her power to help others gave her a sense of purpose.

However, parting from her family was still incredibly painful.

Shinobu Kochō and Kanae Kochō also felt a pang of sadness.

Kanroji Mitsuri's happy and fulfilling family reminded them of their own.

Their families had once been just as happy.

Everything had vanished because of demons.

At the same time, they admired this seemingly delicate and fragile girl even more.

Many joined the Demon Slayer Corps out of pain and hatred, but few, with happy and fulfilling families, still chose to risk their lives to fight demons.

  Each one was exceptionally admirable.

Tsuyuri Kanao remained silent as always, following the three like a little tail.

For a moment, none of the four spoke.

Until a strange message reached their ears.

A shattered body, a strange wooden lizard… From the few words they gleaned, they realized something was wrong.

They questioned people carefully, but unfortunately, most only knew hearsay; no one could clearly explain what had happened.

However, they were fairly certain that this was related to a demon.

"This time, a demon has actually appeared." Kanroji Mitsuri's expression was slightly serious.

Her parents, relatives, and friends all lived here.

Shinobu Kochō asked, "Sister, what do we do now?"

Kanae Kochō thought for a moment: "The wooden lizard… could it be Upper Moon Four?"

She remembered Mr. Aomura saying that one of Upper Moon Four's clones possessed the ability to control wooden lizards.

Almost no two demons have the same Blood Demon Art.

However, without seeing it with her own eyes, she wasn't entirely sure.

  "Upper Moon Four?"

Kanroji Mitsuri puffed out her cheeks.

Upper Moon demons are far more dangerous than ordinary demons.

How could such a terrifying demon have appeared in the place where she lived?

Shinobu Kochō pondered, "I remember, the one who can control the wooden lizard is Zōhakuten, who is the most powerful clone of Upper Moon Four. Who is he fighting?"

The three exchanged glances, and a name surfaced in their minds.

"Let's go and meet up with Mr. Aomura first!" Kanae Kochō made the decision.

The other three had no objections.

The four quickened their pace and left quickly, soon arriving at the agreed location.

From afar, they saw a person practicing martial arts under the shade of a tree.

  "Mr. Aomura is indeed here."

Kanae was about to go over when she suddenly paused, her steps slowing down.

Shinobu Kochō and Kanroji Mitsuri reacted similarly.

Towering trees pierced the sky, their massive canopies forming a shadow that separated them.

Aoki stood in the shadows, while Kanae and the other three stood in the sunlight, their faces filled with confusion, bewilderment, and incomprehension.

Aoki, having heard the commotion, stopped what he was doing.

  "You're back."

  The others still didn't react.

Aoki asked in surprise, "What's wrong?"

Kanae thought for a moment and said, "It feels like something has changed about Mr. Aomura; he's very different from before."

Kanroji Mitsuri nodded repeatedly, adding in her mind, "He seems even more handsome than before!"

Shinobu Kochō recalled, "A similar change seemed to have occurred before, but not as pronounced as this."

"That's probably it!"      Aoki understood, took a few steps forward, letting the sunlight envelop him, and smiled at them.

The girls were initially bewildered, but quickly their eyes widened.

Kanae's beautiful face was filled with shock: "Mr. Aomura, you've overcome the sunlight?"

  "That's right,"

Aoki exclaimed. "After being a demon for so long, I can finally stand in the sunlight again."

Kanae, Shinobu, and Mitsuri were all dizzy.

A demon unafraid of sunlight had finally been born into the world.

Thankfully, this demon wasn't an enemy.

If it were Muzan Kibutsuji, the world would be forever plunged into pain and darkness.

Aoki asked, "You all seem to be in a hurry. What happened?"

The girls snapped out of their daze and finally remembered their purpose.

Kanae said, "Mr. Aomura, we've found traces of what appears to be Upper Moon Four, Hantengu, in our city. And last night, he seemed to be fighting someone."

Aoki didn't hide anything: "You guys got the news so quickly? Don't worry, I was the one fighting Hantengu last night."

"That Hantengu?" Shinobu Kochō's expression turned expectant.

Aoki said, "He's dead, of course!"

Although she had already guessed the answer, Shinobu Kochō couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

"That leaves only Upper Moon One!"

Kanroji Mitsuri asked curiously, "Mr. Aomura, how did you find Hantengu?"

Aoki shook his head: "I didn't look for him. I just happened to run into him on the street."

  "Huh?"

Kanroji Mitsuri looked bewildered and amused: "That Upper Moon Four is so unlucky."

In the whole world, there's only one person who could easily kill him, and he just happened to run into him.

"Perhaps it was his fate!" Aoki said.

Kanae took a deep breath, her gaze fixed intently on Aoki, and said, word by word, "Mr. Aoki, how does your strength compare to Muzan Kibutsuji now?"

Shinobu Kochō's spirits lifted, her eyes fixed on Aoki.

She was also very curious about this question.

Overcoming sunlight—that was something even Muzan Kibutsuji hadn't accomplished.

Did this mean that Mr. Aoki had already surpassed Muzan Kibutsuji?

Under their expectant gazes, Aoki hesitated for a moment before saying, "At least not weaker than Muzan Kibutsuji!"

Kanae and Shinobu's eyes immediately brightened.

Kanroji Mitsuri's face flushed, also very excited.

Shinobu's voice trembled slightly, "Mr. Aoki, then can we..."

Aoki raised his hand, "It's not that simple."

Shinobu paused, took a deep breath, and gradually calmed down.

  Indeed.

Muzan Kibutsuji wasn't so easy to kill.

The Demon Slayer Corps, entangled with Muzan Kibutsuji for a thousand years, knew this all too well.

  Leaving aside other matters...

Finding Muzan Kibutsuji is a huge problem.

For so many years, let alone finding any trace of him, they know almost nothing about him, including his appearance and abilities.

Perhaps they did know something in the past,

but the Demon Slayer Corps nearly perished several times, and much information was lost.

Currently, their understanding of Muzan Kibutsuji comes almost entirely from Mr. Aomura.

Aomura said, "However, don't be discouraged. I have a plan, and I intend to discuss it with the head of the Ubuyashiki family when we get back."
