Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Demon

Aomura Kazuhiko, in his forties, sported a two-millimeter-thick beard and handsome features. His unkempt appearance only added to his roguish charm, making him a quintessential middle-aged heartthrob.

But now, his handsome face was covered in grotesque veins, his eyes transformed into snake-like vertical pupils, radiating intense coldness, malice, and deep greed.

His mouth was filled with serrated teeth, flesh and blood lingering between them, crimson blood dripping from the corners of his mouth.

In his hand lay a human thigh, covered in bite marks.

  Aoki shuddered: "What is this?"

The man at the door was definitely not Aomura Kazuhiko!

  No!

  This wasn't human!

  A cannibal?

  A zombie? A monster?

"Found you! Rie, Takina, Aoki, aren't you happy to see me?"

Aomura Kazuhiko licked his lips, his voice filled with eerie excitement, and strode towards Aomura Rie. *

  Thud!*

An arrow flew like a meteor, piercing his head and pinning him to the wall.

Aoki, longbow in hand, stood there, his expression cold and stern.

"Master's wife, be careful! This is definitely not Master!"

Aomura Rie involuntarily took two steps back, her voice trembling with unspeakable pain and despair: "It's a demon! He's a demon! A man-eating demon!"

  "A demon?"

  Aoki frowned.

When he thought of demons, he first thought of monsters formed from the souls of the dead.

But the "demon" before him was clearly not the kind he knew.

  Snap!

"Aomura Kazuhiko" raised his arm, grabbed the arrow, and forcefully pulled it out of his head.

"A man-eating demon, it won't die even if its head is pierced, it has a hideous appearance, like Japan during the Meiji era..."

A flash of lightning struck Aoki's mind.

Could this be the world of Demon Slayer?

Before he could think further, a dark shadow suddenly pounced, and Aoki only had time to hold his bow across his chest.

  Boom!

A tremendous force propelled him, slamming him violently against the wall.

Aoki felt his internal organs churning, his back felt broken, and a faint metallic taste filled his mouth. He was horrified.

  "Such speed! Such strength!"

Based on his calculations, 5 points in the four-dimensional attributes should be the limit for humans.

His talent wasn't particularly outstanding, only reaching 4 points in the four dimensions. His

intelligence was 5 points because when he leveled up to "Hunter" level 2, he received a free attribute point, which he added to see if intelligence was equivalent to IQ—and it turned out not to be.

"Aomura Kazuhiko's" strength was at least 6 points!

It was a complete crushing blow to his 4 points of strength.

  "I'll kill you first."

"Aomura Kazuhiko's" expression was grim, his hands exerting increasing force.

  Crackling.

The longbow pressed against his chest, gradually caved in.

Aoki could clearly hear the groans of his ribs bearing the unbearable weight.

  No!

  He couldn't withstand it!

His strength was too great! His

  body was about to break!

  Just then...

  Clang!

A stick slammed down, and "Aomura Kazuhiko's" head tilted to the side, his body involuntarily leaning forward, his movements slowing instantly.

  He turned his head angrily.

Takina was breathing heavily, her pretty face filled with fear, yet she showed no sign of backing down. Her almond-shaped eyes were wide open, her teeth clenched, and she swung the stick again.

  "Let go of Aoki!"

  Bang!

"Aomura Kazuhiko" easily caught the stick with his right hand, his face contorted with rage, his killing intent fully revealed.

  "Want to die? Then I'll..."

  Thud!

Before he could finish speaking, he was sent flying, crashing through tables and chairs, and slamming heavily to the ground.

Aoki put his foot down, caught his breath, and quickly said, "Takina, Master's wife, you two leave first, I'll take care of things here!"

  "Aoki..."

Aomura Rie's face was pale, somewhat at a loss.

Takina didn't hesitate, throwing away the stick, grabbing her hand, and running towards the back door without looking back.

  "Don't go!"

"Aomura Kazuhiko" panicked, trying to get up.

Aoki drew his bow and nocked an arrow; at such close range, there was no need to aim.

  Thud!

The arrow, its tip gleaming slightly blue, pierced through "Aomura Kazuhiko's" head, knocking him to the ground once more.

"Aomura Kazuhiko" tried to get up, but his expression changed, and he shook his head.

  "Poisoned?"

Aoki didn't answer, but he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

  Thankfully, it worked.

To deal with unexpected situations, he had made several poisoned arrows, but he hadn't expected them to be used in such a life-or-death situation for the first time. He

fired another poisoned arrow without looking back, turning and rushing towards the front gate.

  "Damn it!"

"Aomura Kazuhiko" slammed his fist on the ground, filled with rage.

Three prey, and he hadn't managed to grab a single one.

"You can't escape!" he growled, pulling out an arrow from his body and charging towards the front gate.

Compared to the two women, he wanted Aoki dead more.

Just as he stepped across the threshold, a sharp, tearing sound exploded in his ears, and "Aomura Kazuhiko" instinctively stopped.

  Whoosh!

The arrow flew past him a foot away, landing in the nearby chicken coop.

Three hens huddled together, trembling in a corner. *

  Plop*.

An arrow fell from the sky, piercing them all together.

  "Cluck cluck cluck!"

The hens screamed in agony, struggling frantically, but the more they struggled, the larger the wounds inflicted by the arrow.

"You were pretty accurate just now, how come you suddenly turned into a chicken-killing archer?"

"Aomura Kazuhiko" sneered, charging towards Aoki.

Aoki ignored him and turned to run.

The two chased each other, the distance rapidly closing.

[Killed 1 chicken, gained 1 experience point.]

[Killed 1 chicken, gained 1 experience point.]

[Killed 1 chicken, gained 1 experience point.]

  [Congratulations, you've leveled up!]

Hearing this system notification, flames ignited in Aoki's eyes.

  "Success!"

The three hens had actually accumulated 3 experience points!

A deep blue screen appeared in his vision.

  [Name: Aoki]

  [Strength: 4]

  [Constitution: 4]

  [Intelligence: 5]

  [Agility: 4]

  [Occupation: Hunter]

  [Free Attribute Points: 1]

  ...

  [Hunter]

  Quality: ☆

  Level: lv5

Skills: Hunting Instinct, Dexterity, Eagle Eye, Blood Boiling (To be learned)

  Free Skill Points: 1

"Hunter" gains 1 skill point for every level gained and 1 attribute point for every 2 levels gained.

This level up grants exactly 1 skill point and 1 attribute point.

  Crucially!

Without hesitation, Aoki immediately added the attribute point to Strength.

Instantly, a surge of heat flowed through his body, and all his muscles swelled.

  But that wasn't enough!

  A "Hunter's" four skills:

"Hunting Instinct" enhances the talent for searching and identifying prey tracks; "Dexterity" increases finger dexterity, strengthening the ability to make and set traps; "Eagle Eye" increases eyesight, providing a significant boost to archery and other techniques.

"Blood Boiling" is an explosive skill that requires active activation. It greatly enhances physical attributes for a short period, but leaves the user weakened afterward.

Normally, when hunting, he either uses a bow and arrow to kill prey from a distance or employs traps, so he doesn't rely heavily on combat skills.

But at this moment, facing a monster like a demon, "Blood Boiing" is perfectly suited.

  Learn "Blood Boiling"!

  Activate the skill!

Aoki took a deep breath, his blood seemingly ignited, instantly boiling.

  Boom!

An unprecedentedly powerful force surged into his body.
