Chapter 101 - Analysis

Every second, hundreds of totems shattered.

Every second, the Red-Clothed Abnormality activated its rules hundreds of times.

"Come on! Let's hurt each other!"

Watching this scene, Steve didn't feel distressed; instead, he became even more excited.

"Quick, deploy more zombies from the Teleportation Gate. Aside from those transporting Totems of Undying, everyone else get over here. I'm going to drain her dry today."

Soon, another large group of zombies arrived.

The logistics zombies frantically replenished totems for the suicide squad on the front lines.

This staring contest lasted for several hours.

It continued until the early hours of the morning.

Steve could clearly feel the cold aura on the Red-Clothed Abnormality weakening at a visible rate.

The rule fluctuations that were originally suffocating became intermittent, as if a battery were running out of power.

"As expected of the Paranormal Universe."

Steve looked at the golden powder covering the ground and sighed.

"This is only the second abnormality I've encountered, yet it's consumed so many of my Totems of Undying. Any ordinary force would have been wiped out long ago."

Just as Steve was about to order an increase in intensity to completely drain this abnormality in one go...

Suddenly.

"You... what kind of monsters are you?!"

A trembling male voice abruptly rang out from the end of the street.

Steve whipped his head around and saw a young policeman in a striped uniform standing under a streetlight not far away.

He gripped a pistol tightly, its dark muzzle pointing at the terrifying-looking zombies. His face was pale, and he was covered in sweat.

"A cop?"

Steve frowned.

"I clearly used Space Folding to shield this area. How can an ordinary person see through it?"

Before he could figure it out...

Behind the male cop, another figure appeared silently.

It was a female cop, Marry, wearing the same uniform. She was tall with a graceful figure and looked very capable.

"Lucy, did something happen? Why are you so flustered?"

The female cop's voice was gentle and calm.

Steve instinctively looked at the female cop. His gaze swept over her uniform, her neck, and finally landed on her face.

The moment Steve's eyes met hers...

*Bang!*

A familiar explosion erupted inside him.

A Totem of Undying had shattered.

"?!"

Steve's pupils constricted, and he reacted instantly.

"An abnormality. That woman is also an abnormality."

"What?"

Greg hadn't reacted yet. Hearing his companion's voice, he subconsciously tried to turn around.

"What did you sa—"

"Don't turn around! That's a monster."

Steve's body moved like lightning as he instantly activated Teleportation!

*Whoosh!*

Just as Greg was about to turn his head toward the female cop behind him, a cold, large hand grabbed his shoulder, hoisted him up, and flew backward.

*Whoosh!*

Greg felt the world spinning around him as he looked at the monster carrying him through the air.

"You... you're a monster? You can actually talk?"

Greg stared in terror at the winged zombie before him, his mind in total chaos.

"Abnormality? What abnormality? How could she be an abnormality?!"

"To actually imprison my clone."

Marry ignored Greg and stared fixedly at the Red-Clothed Abnormality embedded in the ice wall. Her originally gentle face suddenly contorted into a hideous expression, and her voice became sharp and piercing.

"And even taking away my food... unforgivable."

Her eyes suddenly turned pitch black, emitting terrifying rule fluctuations.

Steve placed Greg on the ground and casually tossed him a few Totems of Undying.

"Hold onto these."

Steve said coldly.

"If you want to look at her, use these. If this thing shatters, stop looking—unless you want to die."

Greg tremblingly took the strange golden statues, having no idea what was happening.

Steve turned around and gazed at the raging Marry, thinking to himself:

"A Clone? Was the Red-Clothed Abnormality I just imprisoned only a part of her? Or... can this thing split infinitely?"

"Interesting. It looks like I've caught a big fish this time."

"*Bang! Bang! Bang!*"

The sounds of Totems of Undying shattering rang out frantically within Steve's body.

However, to him, with his massive stockpile, this was just a drop in the bucket.

Steve slowly raised his head, unable to suppress the smile curling at the corners of his mouth.

His eyes stared fixedly at Marry.

"Finally... I've caught you."

"Wait, that aura just now... you're a physical entity, right?"

Steve approached step by step, his voice laced with unmistakable excitement.

Compared to the ethereal Red-Clothed Clone embedded in the wall, Marry felt like a heavy piece of solid iron. She was a manifestation of aggregated abnormality energy, exactly like the clown from the second round.

"You..."

The mask of fake gentleness on Marry's face finally began to crack.

She looked at Steve in shock.

"Why... why didn't you die after looking into my eyes?!"

This was the rule she took pride in. In this city, no one had ever been able to look into her eyes for more than a second and remain standing.

Yet this monster before her not only looked but was also laughing.

Not far away, Greg, who had fallen to the ground, also struggled to look over.

The moment his gaze met Marry's eyes...

*Bang!*

The golden statue he held tightly in his hand instantly shattered.

"Ah!"

Greg cried out in alarm, a storm of shock raging in his heart.

That feeling of his heart stopping just now was real; that golden object had taken a death blow for him.

"Marry... really is an abnormality."

Greg trembled all over and quickly looked away, staring fixedly at the ground, not daring to glance at that familiar face ever again.

Meanwhile, the analysis reports from the Command Center flooded the screen again.

[Think Tank Emergency Analysis]

"Report: Based on the frequency of totem consumption and the target's lack of knowledge regarding the totems, we speculate the following."

"Clone Mechanism: The Red-Clothed Abnormality and Marry do not share a field of vision. It is highly probable that the former is an independent individual split from the latter, which is why she is unaware of the Totems of Undying."

"Lair Inference: Since the target is lurking in the Police Station and possesses a physical identity, it is highly likely that the entire station has been infiltrated or controlled by her. There is a high probability that it serves as her Breeding Ground."

"A Breeding Ground, huh?"

Hearing the report in his mind, the greed in Steve's eyes intensified.

"I was just worrying about how to gather a hundred Cores, and here you are, delivering yourself to my doorstep."

*Boom!*

Steve wasted no more words. The ground beneath him cracked as he shot forward like a projectile, his fist hurtling toward Marry's face.

"Damn it."

Marry's expression changed drastically. Since her rules couldn't kill him, she was absolutely no match for this monster in physical combat.

Staying would only lead to death.

"You want to catch me? In your dreams."
