Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Serum Injection

Chapter 41: Serum Injection

An improved version of the Super Soldier Serum.

From the Captain America universe, modified by the Dimensional Express Company.

The serum's influence on the recipient's personality has been removed, allowing its full efficacy with a significantly enhanced effect.

No special vita-ray exposure is required—after injection, the serum will boost the recipient's physical abilities to twice the human limit in a very short time.

Based on the recipient's body structure, characteristics, and usage habits, it will gradually strengthen the user's body, ultimately increasing their physical abilities to 3 to 5 times that of an average person!

Wow, this is far superior to the original!

While it doesn't instantly transform someone into Superman, the growth potential is significantly higher, and it will vary in strength, speed, and recovery abilities depending on each individual's characteristics.

Some might have greater strength but be somewhat slower, while others might be faster but slightly weaker.

Mason couldn't definitively say which was better, but he preferred one that suited his own development.

With this, he had a solid foundation for survival—no matter which world he entered next time, his starting point would be much stronger than before.

After all that chaos, Mason was utterly exhausted, but lying in bed, he tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

The enhancement serum in his hand appeared and disappeared repeatedly. After several repetitions, he gritted his teeth and sat bolt upright.

"Damn it, why can't I ever hold onto good stuff!" He'd originally planned to rest before using it, but since he couldn't sleep anyway, he decided to inject it directly.

The bio-battery in his chest was fully charged. Mason unplugged the charging cable, sat shirtless on the bed, and placed the syringe over his heart.

"Just place it here as instructed, and all I need to do is press it once..." Mason muttered, then gently pressed the end of the silver syringe.

"Pfft!"

A sharp pain shot through him. Mason felt a needle pierce his skin and go straight into his heart!

Immediately afterward, the liquid in the syringe rapidly decreased, a cool sensation came from his heart, and though he could hear no sound, he could almost feel the liquid flowing into his heart.

When all the serum was injected, the needle retracted automatically, and the syringe detached from his body. Mason's eyes widened as he felt an unprecedented transformation taking place within him.

His muscles expanded, his blood vessels thickened, and a tingling sensation spread deep within his bones. Suddenly, his senses were amplified—he could see a bug in a crack in the wall and faintly hear breathing from the apartment next door.

Just as he was lost in this enhanced state, a row of glaring red lights appeared in his vision.

"Warning! Warning! Low energy! Low energy! Please replenish immediately!"

Coming out of that special state, "What's going on? I just charged it!" Mason looked at his less than 10% battery and muttered weakly.

Even as he complained, his already low battery continued to drop rapidly, quickly falling to 8%. Without hesitation, he grabbed the charging cable and quickly connected it.

It continued to drop another three percentage points. Just as Mason's vision blurred and his heart pounded with fear, the declining battery finally stabilized, and it took a while for it to recover and slowly rise again.

The bio-battery inside his body was enough to power an average adult for ten days, yet it had been completely drained in a very short time.

If it were the previous battery, Mason's expression darkened—he'd probably be dead by now.

A while later, when the battery level reached 30%, Mason opened his personal terminal. A notification caught his attention:

"Courier's physical attributes have been greatly enhanced. Data conversion underway, combining data from this world. Data collection in progress...

Name: Mason.

Level: Probationary Courier.

Salary: 720 Dimensional Coins.

Physical Attributes: Synchronizing...

Mental Endurance: Synchronizing...?"

While normal human physical attributes cannot be fully represented by data, quantification still offers many advantages.

Mason didn't pay much attention. Before the enhancement, his body, though unique, was only at average human level.

But after the enhancement, he now possessed physical attributes comparable to twice the human limit. This change was too drastic—he couldn't adapt to it immediately.

For some reason, seemingly thanks to his rapid learning ability, his control over his body far exceeded expectations, and it didn't take long for him to maintain normal function without issues.

After entering the mission world, time outside had basically stood still, but after all that activity, it was already the early hours of the next morning.

Although he had a bio-battery, his mind and body were still exhausted. After fully charging the battery, he went to bed to rest.

He slept soundly

until his phone alarm rang, startling him awake.

He checked the time—it was already 1 PM.

When his energy was plentiful, he didn't feel any hunger. Although he could eat normally, it only satisfied his taste buds and didn't replenish any energy.

A face popped up on the phone—it was Donnie, whom he'd spoken to the previous night. "Hey, Mason, what are you doing? It's so late, why aren't you here to pick up your deliveries?"

"If you don't show up, I'll give your pay to someone else," Donnie said slowly, puffing on a cigar and exhaling smoke rings.

"Also, the cops just came by and asked if you saw anything, since one of your delivery customers was killed yesterday."

In Border City, nobody was truly clean, and the police were no exception. Donnie's gang had connections with them, so even though they knew shady business was going down, they just turned a blind eye.

"Someone was killed? Poor bastard

," Mason said casually. "Which customer? I delivered so many packages yesterday, how would I remember?"

"If you don't remember, you don't remember. I already covered for you with the cops. People die every day in Border City—it's no big deal," Donnie muttered, completely unconcerned.

"Alright, enough small talk—come over and get your money, then get back to work!" Donnie cursed as he hung up the phone.

Mason frowned, but he wasn't as relaxed as he appeared. What happened last night was more than just a death.

The female android went on a killing spree in the street, and the police didn't say a word about it. Was it a deliberate cover-up, or was there some other reason? He had a feeling things wouldn't just end like that.

After cleaning up any traces in his apartment, especially carefully wrapping up the old bio-battery, he changed into a black jacket, grabbed his backpack, and headed out.

After dividing the remains of the bio-battery into several packages and throwing them into different dumpsters, Mason started his car and headed straight for the Gear Gang's base where Donnie was located.
