The sun was starting to set, with how cloudy it is in this bizarre place, the forest will be plunged in complete and utter darkness.
They both atleast hoped that a few rays of light from the moon would shine through the clouds, getting lost would be devestating.
"Let's stop on that tree stump."
Vivian suggested with a sigh, she was tired, abandoning her heels walking merely on her bare feet.
Fortunately for her she had relatives in the country side and learned the ways of the country folk, that was before she got hired by Zhao Yi Chen's company and assisted personally instead of through video calls and voice messages.
The tree stump was large, fifteen feet tall and twelve feet wide.
In the middle the stump was a crack, large enough to fit the two of them to stay the night. They had nothing in this world they were brought in,
"They could've atleast given us a starter pack or something."
Zhao grumbled and lay down on the soft grass with a comfortable sigh, Vivian had no idea what starter pack he was talking about but assumed some video game shenanigans.
.
Through out their walk here, they figured more things out about themselves and things you could do with the interface, or system is what Yi Chen calls it.
One was the 150 that was recorded in the Journal Entry, at first it seemed pretty useless, then they found out that this world had a currency system.
Which was surprising since in other books or shows, it was merely just simple gold coins or paper money.
The first currency was physical, called Coins. Just the usual coins, used for day to day transactions, they could choose whether to turn some or all of the 150 currency into coins, which had no benefit at the moment.
The second type was, Profit Units, or PU for short, this was the type of currency mostly Zhao Yi Chen can see, especially when gazing at his interface that showed the Income and Losses.
Profit Units were used for their skills, stats, items, or in Vivian's fortunate case— Authority.
There was also Loss Units, or LU, which occur when debuffs, restrictions or system warning of tremendous Loss.
Then, the last which seemed to be rare, were the Seals.
A kind of currency that is rare and permanent used for unlocking systems, which Zhao Yi Chen guessed as an upgrade or a prestige of sorts, and...
"Grants world level permissions?" Zhao Yi Chen scratches his head after listening to Vivian read all of it aloud to him whilst he was still laying on the ground.
Sitting up her shrugged and said, "we'll find out eventually."
And by then the world around them was plunged into darkness, the trees rustled quietly, the tree branches scraping and creaking all in some odd harmony of nature.
Odder, insects and birds were chirping and made noise even though they haven't seen a single thing. Maybe they were all some kind of nocturnal creature.
Vivian ended up falling asleep after thirty minutes of keeping watch, she had her knees curled up to her chin with her blazer as her blanket, she still shivered from time to time with the cold breezes being so concentrated when passing through the stump.
Zhao Yi Chen however was still wide awake, eyes focused and re-reading the system information.
With every system information he finds after messing with the VR like screen, more information pops up.
Since he was labeled as the ' Owner ' he could see some of Vivian's information as his ' Business Partner. '
The first he focused on were the passive skills, both of them having two. As always it was something related to marketing, income, and business. There were no battle specific skills that the skill tree allowed them to see at their current level but their passives were sufficient enough.
Yi Chen's was named [Delayed Judgement], basically the outcome of decision making moments will be greater or in their favor if he waits long enough. It was a rather odd passive skill... It suited him, though he feels like there's a twist to it, he just can't think of a situation at the moment.
The second one was called [Opportunity Timing]
Basically he had to act at the right time, results varies depending on when he decides to take action.
Which counters his first passive really, he has to wait long enough but what if he needs to do something quickly?
"How annoying." He groaned then opened Vivian's passive descriptions.
Her first passive was [Initiative Control].
"Minor advantage when acting first, that's so her."
He laughed to himself, she indeed would act first in times of need and importance.
Then there was him, he either had to wait for things to go in their favor, or act at the right time for better results, which counters his first passive meaning things will end up like a 50/50 situation.
As he red her second skill, this made him rub his chin all intrigued.
Her second passive was [Decision Anchor].
"When Business Partner initiates an action, stabilizes Owner's decisive passives."
This passive made him smile, so in the end she's still supporting him indirectly.
She starts, but doesn't choose things, she creates a structure so he's the one that'll choose.
Sadly, their Shared Passive was not as good.
[Unbalanced Consensus]
"When two ledgers cannot be balanced, a decision must still be made..."
What the fuck?
The description was short, plain, and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yi Chen looked at the interface closer and pressed around thinking there was some hidden toggle that would show more but there was absolutely nothing.
His confusion was short-lived till an unstoppable yawn escaped, his eyes were slowly closing.
" Whatever. Should be of no concern at the moment."
With that he closed his eyes and slept through the night.
...
The sun shone through the thick canopy, Vivian woke up first, yawning and stretching her limbs out. Noticing her boss sleeping soundly without his suit, only then did she realize that she'd been using her boss' as a blanket.
She took it off her shoulders and coughed once.
Then twice.
Then kicked his side lightly finally waking him up before dumping his suit over his face.
" Wake up Mr. Zhao, we must get going and find the village remember?"
