Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 :Interesting Information

"Archmaester Mellos? What is it?" Viserys quickly adjusted his mood.

"It's like this, I just met Lord Linman. He wanted to see you, but the Queen stopped him. Do you want to see him?"

"See me?" Viserys furrowed his brow slightly.

"That's right. From what he said, Prince Aegon is abusing his power in the Small Council," Grand Scholar Meiluosi said.

Hearing this, Viserys's face immediately darkened. He was absolutely fed up with this endless power struggle!

"No, don't see him. Everything must follow Aegon's lead recently, as long as it's not too excessive," Viserys immediately ordered.

He had already reached a consensus with Daemon.

Daemon was responsible for eliminating Harwin Strong and retaking the Stepstones within half a year.

And he would allow Daemon to marry Rhaenyra a year later, reuniting the bloodline of Baelon to guard against the Greens seizing power.

As if remembering something, Viserys asked again, "Have you attended the Small Council meetings during this time?"

"I attended most of them, Your Majesty," Grand Scholar Meiluosi nodded.

"Then... what do you think of Aegon?" Viserys unconsciously lowered his voice.

Grand Scholar Meiluosi's mouth twitched.

"I wonder what Your Majesty is referring to?"

As the Grand Maester, he naturally knew what Viserys was referring to, but he didn't know if Viserys was truly foolish or pretending to be.

Did he even need to ask such a question?

If Viserys didn't step in and interfere soon, he dared to guarantee that within three years, Aegon would completely eliminate the Black Party's influence in King's Landing!

Recently, the Black Party officials were having the worst luck; those who were dismissed were dismissed, and those who were reassigned were reassigned.

Aegon's methods were so brilliant and ruthless that even he was amazed when he saw them!

Looking back at the entire history of the Targaryen dynasty, Grand Scholar Meiluosi dared to guarantee that no member of the royal family could compare to Aegon in terms of politics.

More importantly, Aegon not only had brilliant political skills but was also good at winning people's hearts.

His four siblings were all Dragonriders, and they had three large Dragons, plus a sub-adult female Dragon.

Even without counting Vhagar, who was just tamed by Prince Aemond this year, there were still Sunfyre and Dreamfyre.

He was outstanding enough and also the male legitimate eldest son.

Grand Scholar Meiluosi really couldn't understand why Viserys insisted on not letting go of Rhaenyra.

"It's about who you think is more suitable to be the heir to the Iron Throne, Aegon or Rhaenyra?"

Viserys knew that Grand Scholar Meiluosi was pretending to be foolish, so he simply asked directly.

"I don't know. If I had to say, Prince Aegon and Princess Rhaenyra each have their strengths. It all depends on His Majesty's will."

Viserys lowered his gaze.

Although Grand Scholar Meiluosi's words sounded good, he could hear that Grand Scholar Meiluosi leaned more towards Aegon.

As for everything being decided solely by his will, that was even more of a joke.

If everything could be solved by decree, he wouldn't be so worried that he couldn't sleep all night.

"You may leave first."

Viserys also knew that he wouldn't be able to get anything out of him.

After Grand Scholar Meiluosi left, Viserys continued to drink his sorrows away.

"Lyonel, don't blame me. If you must blame someone, blame your son for not being able to control himself."

After drinking until his consciousness was somewhat blurry, Viserys lay on the bed and muttered softly.

"It's all your son's fault. If your son hadn't seduced Rhaenyra, I wouldn't have done this. It's all your son's fault. Why are you blaming me?"

Throne Hall.

Narrow steps, a long carpet extended from the throne to the bronze oak doors at the end of the hall.

Aegon stood below the Throne Hall, staring intently at the Iron Throne forged from a thousand defeated swords.

"Egon Targaryen I collected the swords of all the enemies he defeated and forged this chair, a symbol of royal power."

Larys limped in from the side door and stood behind Aegon.

"The legendary story of the Iron Throne has been passed down for a hundred years, over and over again.

Until people firmly believed this was royal power.

Until people had forgotten that this was a lie."

Aegon gazed at the Iron Throne in a daze. They said the Iron Throne would reject incompetent kings, cutting them until they were covered in wounds.

But Aegon didn't believe that. When he ascended the throne, he would melt the Iron Throne, mix in gold, and then forge a "gold dragon Throne" using Sunfyre as a template!

"I don't think this is a lie. When my father sits on the Iron Throne and governs on behalf of the Kingdom, he is the King."

"The Iron Throne has always stood in the Throne Hall. Whoever sits on the Iron Throne holds power, and holding power means being the King."

Larys also gazed at the Iron Throne in a daze.

What if one day, he became Aegon's Hand of the King, and Aegon happened to be unavailable for court?

Would he then have a chance to go up and sit for a while?

If he really sat on it, would the Iron Throne cut him?

"Do you remember what I told you power is?" Aegon suddenly asked with a smile.

"Of course, it's still deafeningly clear: power is strength!" Larys replied with a serious expression.

"Actually, I was too one-sided," Aegon's lips curled slightly.

"Power is strength, and power also comes from strength!

Dragons, people's hearts, armor, weapons, food – these can all be strength!"

Larys pursed his lips, feeling like Aegon had just given him another lesson.

Moreover, he always felt like Aegon seemed to enjoy giving lessons and pointing things out to others.

Thinking of this, Larys naturally displayed an expression of being taught.

"Do you know about His Majesty planning to marry Helena to Jacaerys?"

"I know a little," Larys nodded. "This is an insult to you and your mother. What you are doing is completely fine!"

Aegon shook his head.

"Don't overthink it. I just want to tell you something.

The reason I dared to publicly refute His Majesty at that time wasn't because I had great power.

After all, in principle, everyone's power comes from the King.

But the real 'principles' are in my hands, and there are four of them!"

Hearing this, Larys was momentarily dazed.

One hundred and twenty years had passed since the founding of the Targaryen dynasty.

He had almost forgotten how Egon Targaryen I had conquered the Seven Kingdoms back then.

Even Vhagar, one of the three legendary founding Dragons who participated in the Conquest War one hundred and twenty years ago, was now Prince Aemond's mount!

Thinking this way, the "principles" were indeed in Aegon's hands.

"You didn't come to find me just for small talk, did you?"

Aegon ended the topic about power and brought up the main point.

"Of course, we need a place without eyes and ears. This matter is very interesting."

Larys's lips pulled into a stiff and meaningful smile.
