Across the city in his apartment, Lucian was seated on his worn couch with a cup of coffee that was swiftly growing cold in his hands.
He hadn't moved in over an hour, after receiving Riley's call.
Since the previous night, after finishing the 'business' with Gerard, he wanted nothing but to run over to see Rowan, to explain to him that Gum was just a fling, nothing serious but he knew he had to be careful, especially for Rowan's sake.
And for that, he had called in sick.
Lucian just sat there, staring at nothing, replaying Gerard's words over and over in his head.
"I've been watching you since this afternoon."
As he did, many questions rose at the same time in his mind;
How many others were there? How many of his enemies had already tracked him to New York? How many were watching his every move, waiting for an opportunity?
And more importantly, how many of them knew about Rowan?
Lucian's grip tightened on the coffee mug until his knuckles turned white.
