Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: The Birth of a Domain

The gateway to Floor 17 opened into a ruined coliseum suspended above an abyss.

Massive stone arches circled the arena. Chains thicker than towers extended outward into darkness anchoring the structure to unseen points beyond the void. The sky above was a swirling vortex of ash-grey clouds rotating slowly without wind.

Kael stepped forward and he saw the floor 17th and what he felt was mesmerizing and he thinks where does this exists and how is it created.

The instant his foot touched the arena floor the air reacted violently and subtly.

A tremor rippled outward from him like a distortion in glass.

He felt it this time.

The weight of his power.

His own presence pressing against the environment.

Shen Yao remained high above watching silently and observing the environment. He was used to this atmosphere.

Floor 17 did not begin with a wave.

It began with silence. Then figures appeared along the outer ring of the coliseum.

Execution Sentinels of level 99 which was the same level of Frost Sovereign, but here they are considered just regular mobs but stronger.

Tall armoured entities formed from layered obsidian and silver bone. Each carried a massive cleaver-like weapon forged from condensed gravitational mass. Their helmets were smooth and featureless except for a narrow vertical slit emitting dim red light.

Thirty of them.

They did not descend immediately. They just watched. Their heads tilted slightly. They were measuring Kael.

Kael stood still in the center.

He did not expand authority. He did not consciously exert pressure.

Yet the arena floor beneath him developed faint cracks spreading outward in a circular radius.

The Sentinels felt it.

Their formation tightened. Then they leapt.

All thirty descended simultaneously.

The impact shattered stone in a ring around Kael.

Weapons swung downward in synchronized arcs.

Kael moved before the blades landed.

He stepped between two descending strikes pivoted sharply and drove his fist into the first Sentinel's torso. The armour dented deeply but did not shatter.

Denser than Wardens.

He adjusted instantly.

Authority compressed tighter this time but not outward but layered around his skeletal frame.

He shifted inside the second Sentinel's guard and struck upward into the chin.

Crack. The helmet split.

He ripped the head free and used the body as a projectile against three advancing Sentinels.

They absorbed impact with minimal stagger. These were disciplined and coordinated.

Their cleavers altered gravity locally when swung. Every strike distorted footing. The arena floor buckled unnaturally.

Kael's aura reacted instinctively.

When a cleaver passed within two meters its trajectory bent slightly.

Just enough.

Kael began noticing a pattern.

Anything entering his immediate radius experienced resistance.

He moved through the formation not by overwhelming it but by disrupting it.

He slipped inside arcs.

He targeted internal joints.

He applied rotational torque instead of brute force.

One Sentinel locked him in a gravitational bind increasing local weight five fold.

Kael's knees bent slightly under pressure.

Instead of forcing upward

He drove both fists downward into the arena floor.

The resulting shock wave destabilized the gravity field.

He twisted free and crushed the Sentinel's core.

Minutes passed.

Then ten.

Then twenty.

The Sentinels began slowing.

As the fight continued Kael's aura thickened.

Unconsciously.

Sustained combat fed it.

Each kill stabilized it further.

The Sentinels closest to him showed micro-delays in movement.

Their weapon swings lagged fractionally.

Sentinels hesitated while attacking and because the space around Kael resisted intrusion.

By the final five Sentinels they did not leap immediately.

They circled. Weapons raised and cautious.

Kael walked toward them.

They attacked in a final synchronized attempt.

He shattered two in one motion.

Snapped another's spine plate.

Drove his elbow through a fourth.

The last Sentinel raised its cleaver and then paused.

Its weapon trembled slightly. Its red slit flickered.

Kael stepped forward and crushed its core without resistance.

Silence reclaimed the coliseum.

The cracks in the arena floor now formed a perfect circle around where Kael stood.

Also with explosive damage and the pressure imprint on the floor.

Shen Yao's eyes sharpened.

"Seventeen" he said quietly. "Without conscious expansion."

The system responded.

[Floor 17 Cleared]

[Authority Density Increased]

[Unstructured Field Expansion Detected]

Kael exhaled slowly.

The air exhaled with him.

Floor 18 opened into a forest of black iron trees.

Their trunks were metallic.

Their branches blade-like.

Their roots intertwined across the ground like veins.

Visibility was limited.

Movement would require precision.

The moment Kael entered he felt eyes.

Predators.

This floor did not begin with formation.

It began with hunting.

Shadow Lurkers of level 99 but much stronger than the sentinels.

Lean multi-limbed creatures with elongated torsos and segmented joints allowing unnatural angles of motion. Their bodies reflected faint metallic sheen. Their eyes were completely white.

They did not appear in numbers. They appeared in layers.

One emerged.

Then three more.

Then ten.

Then dozens moving between trees.

They did not charge.

They tested.

One darted forward striking with dual arm-blades.

The moment it crossed into Kael's radius

Its motion slowed slightly. Not enough to stop it. But enough.

Kael sidestepped cleanly and snapped its neck with a single rotational twist.

The others retreated into the forest.

They began coordinated harassment.

Hit-and-withdraw.

Ambush from elevation.

Blind-angle strikes.

Kael did not chase.

He walked deliberately.

Every step caused iron roots beneath him to creak under pressure.

Lurkers attacking from behind experienced resistance before contact.

Some adjusted. Some misjudged.

Those who misjudged died instantly.

The aura was no longer subtle.

Within three meters of Kael the air was thick. Movement required force.

Even Kael felt it.

His own limbs felt heavier but stable.

The forest began responding.

Branches nearest him bent downward slightly.

Leaves trembled.

Lurkers started attacking in groups of five or six.

They no longer circled alone.

Fear had entered calculation.

Kael accelerated.

He no longer needed to react to every attack.

He began moving toward clusters before they struck.

Authority was shaping environment violently this time and decisively.

By the midpoint of Floor 18.

The forest around him had a cleared path carved not by cutting but by pressure. Trees leaned away. Roots cracked under sustained density.

The Lurkers gathered in a final mass.

Over a hundred.

They shrieked and surged.

Kael inhaled once.

For the first time he intentionally did nothing.

He stopped moving. The Lurkers crossed into his radius.

The front line stumbled. The second line collided into the first.

Momentum disrupted.

Kael stepped forward.

One strike.

One crush.

One snap.

The group collapsed under its own disorganization.

Within minutes only bodies remained.

The forest was silent.

Shen Yao descended halfway.

"Fear" he said calmly. "They felt it before they understood it."

Kael looked at his hands.

The distortion around him was now visible if one focused closely like heat shining in summer air.

The system responded.

[Floor 18 Cleared]

[Authority Field Stabilization – 41%]

[Ambient Suppression Effect Identified]

Kael's expression did not change.

"Next."

Floor 19 opened into a canyon carved from black stone and molten veins.

Lava flowed slowly beneath grated stone bridges. The air was hot and dry. The sky above burned orange.

This floor radiated aggression.

The moment Kael stepped forward

A roar echoed across the canyon.

War Beasts of level 99 more stronger than the Shadow lurkers of the floor 18th.

Massive quadrupeds layered in dark crimson armour. Larger than Behemoths. Faster. Their eyes burned with constant fury. Alongside them stood towering humanoid figures Infernal Wardens wielding chained blades infused with fire.

This was combined assault with staggered waves with immediate convergence.

Dozens of War Beasts charged first.

The canyon trembled. They did not hesitate like previous floors.

They were bred for rage.

But even rage falters under suffocation.

The front line slowed within Kael's radius.

Just enough to break charge cohesion.

Kael stepped into them like a descending hammer.

He shattered skulls.

Crushed spinal columns.

Redirected entire bodies into lava flows.

Infernal Wardens followed.

Their chained blades ignited, extending reach dramatically.

One lashed forward.

The chain entered Kael's aura field and dipped.

The flame flickered slightly. The Warden's eyes widened.

Kael closed distance instantly and drove his fist through its chest plate.

He began moving faster now not because he exerted more effort but because enemies were slowed more within proximity.

War Beasts began circling instead of charging directly. Wardens attacked from range.

They were trying to compensate.

Kael adapted again.

He reduced outward spread.

Compressed the field closer to his body.

The density increased.

The next War Beast that lunged experienced a full-body deceleration.

Kael struck once.

Its torso collapsed inward like crushed metal.

The battlefield turned one-sided.

Not because Kael became explosively stronger. Because resistance stacked against his enemies.

Infernal Wardens attempted coordinated suppression from multiple angles.

Kael stepped into the center of their formation.

The heat around him distorted violently as aura interacted with flame.

Their chains tangled mid-swing. Momentum collapsed.

He ended them in sequence.

The canyon gradually emptied.

The last War Beast stood at the far end breathing heavily.

It did not charge. It did not roar. It stared.

Kael walked toward it.

Each step made the stone beneath him crack.

When he came within five meters

The War Beast lowered its head slightly the feeling of submission and also with instinct.

Kael ended it cleanly.

Silence returned to the canyon.

The lava flow calmed.

The air stabilized.

The aura around Kael had grown with explosiveness and also oppressive.

Shen Yao finally descended fully.

He landed in front of Kael.

"Your authority is no longer a tool" Shen Yao said. "It is becoming a domain."

Kael felt it clearly now.

Within a three-to-four-meter radius

Everything slowed slightly. Everything felt heavier.

Everything resisted him less than it resisted others.

"Floor 20" Shen Yao said.

In the distance a colossal gate began forming from molten stone and obsidian pillars.

Unlike previous gateways this one was massive.

Finality radiated from it.

Kael looked at it. He did not rush.

The distortion around him thickened once more as if reacting to anticipation.

The system responded.

[Floor 19 Cleared]

[Authority Field – 63% Stabilized]

[Warning: Floor 20 Integrated Hostile]

Kael flexed his fingers.

The air flexed with him.

Shen Yao's gaze hardened slightly.

"Floor 20 will not hesitate" he said. "And it will not fear."

Kael stepped forward anyway.

Each step toward the gate left shallow fractures in the canyon stone.

The aura did not flicker. It did not waver. It followed him like gravity.

By the time he reached the base of the colossal gate

The space around him felt unmistakably altered.

The beginning of territory and his domain.

Kael placed his hand on the gate.

The molten veins pulsed once.

The gateway began to open.

And for the first time since Floor 11 he felt anticipation for survival and also for confirmation and confrontation.

Floor 20 would decide whether his aura remained as just as the atmosphere

Or became a rule against all.
