She called out cautiously. The man pressing over her body stiffened almost imperceptibly, then shifted again, the movement controlled yet restless. The heat surrounding him had not faded in the slightest, and Isabella's heartbeat thudded hard against her ribs.
She caught a glimpse of his face, and her cheeks flushed instantly.
Victor was bracing himself with both arms beside her ears, his body slightly lifted, shadowing her completely. His sharply defined features were tense, his gaze locked onto her with an intensity that made her breath hitch. Those eyes were dark and deep, like a predator staring at prey it had cornered.
She understood that look.
Her heart tightened painfully.
