Chapter 36 - You aren't that different from other men, Victor Steele

She frowned tightly, shaking her head now and then as if trying to steady her spinning thoughts. Her lips, still faintly swollen and reddened from his earlier kiss, were pressed together unconsciously.

At the sight, Victor Steele's gaze darkened, and his Adam's apple rolled once.

"Keep drinking," he said harshly.

She knew exactly what he was doing. He wanted to hurt her, and he was succeeding.

She had opened her heart to him, foolishly and without defense. Closing it again would take time.

Her chest throbbed with pain, but perhaps this was for the best. 

She needed to hurt now, to be disappointed now, so that one day she could truly give up on Victor Steele, just as she had finally given up on Brandon.

Men were all the same.

They only knew how to trample on her.

She picked up the glass again and took another large gulp, obeying him without hesitation.
