Chapter 61 - Dream Eater Chapter 60

The sweltering summer flew by in monotonous repetition. The only change in the personnel department during this period was the staff under Ami's manipulation. The obedient Matsushima Kae was transferred back to Naga's side, swapping places with Koga Yu and Miura Kotone. All the other employees became three targets for Ami's hunting: one newly recruited employee, and two from the parent company's Public Relations Department II.

Sayaka Tsukamoto and Noriko Hosokawa, who were transferred back, probably didn't warn their former colleagues. The three newcomers faced Naga's attentiveness without any guard, foolishly waiting for their impending fate.

After midsummer, Naga and Miku finally reached a new stage in their relationship.

Miku was a little angry, a little touched, a little shy, and a little embarrassed, but no matter what, she reached out her hand with tears in her eyes and let him put the ring on her finger.

The small metal ring symbolizes a lifetime of bonds.

There was no need for a grand engagement party. Naga and Miku decided to have a modest banquet among their colleagues, which would also serve as a formal announcement of their engagement.

It's unclear whether there was a certain element of defiance involved, but when the list was being drafted, all the women in the company who had had close relationships with Naga, except for Asami, were invited, including Maeda Reiko, who was about to resign and get married.

However, even after they finished eating and went home, Miku didn't do anything particularly unusual, and her expression remained as cheerful and lively as ever. This gave Naga a strange feeling that she couldn't quite figure out.

The wedding is set for the end of September, just five months after Naga started working and met Miku on April 5th.

Miku planned to resign in early September. During her pre-wedding free time, she booked a two-week bridal school course to learn how to be an impeccable housewife.

After midsummer, Ami completely entrusted the bulk recruitment to Naga, while the woman named Shingo Akiko, who was nominally the company's president, only sent one email and then never inquired about this important matter again. Naga was also seeing this woman's name for the first time.

"That's just a way to handle some legal issues," Asami replied casually when asked. "Actually, Akiko only knows two people in this company right now."

Even the company seal is kept in Asami's drawer; it seems this president is a very thorough figurehead.

Besides Reiko Maeda and Miku, six other female employees have planned to resign due to engagements. Extending the timeframe further, as many as eleven will leave within three months, leading to a major reshuffle in the General Affairs Department and Finance Section. This predominantly female workforce inevitably faces such periodic changes.

As far as he knew, two of the Fujikawa family's companies were indeed involved in the entertainment industry, which was why he was so puzzled as to why Asami was hiding in such a small place, painstakingly selecting beauties who could arouse her desire.

When he handed over the last batch of personnel information to Ya Shi for final screening, he couldn't help but ask.

Asahi shrugged and said, "My dad won't allow it. Besides, I'm not that interested in those idiots who swoon over the word 'supervisor'."

It seems that Asahi's selection criteria are quite subtle.

"By the way, why wasn't I invited to the engagement party?" Ashi tossed the documents in her hand onto the table and leaned back lazily in her chair.

"Uh... Miku decided on the list. She doesn't seem to like you much. I mentioned it, but she rejected it." Of course, there's no need to be honest about Miku's glare and the fact that she absolutely wouldn't invite Ami.

"Tsk tsk, you still hate me as much as I thought." Asami chuckled mockingly. "You've already called all those women over, so you're not that jealous after all."

"What happened between you two?" Naga guessed that Asami had failed to defeat Miku, resulting in her complete disgust. However, judging from Asami's expression, it seemed that it was more than that.

It seems the topic has come to an end.

After all, it's a family-owned toy company with a large parent company as its backing, so having a dozen or so extra people temporarily isn't a significant burden. They recruited twelve substitutes at once. Besides the four with financial work experience who were initially assigned to the finance department for internships, the remaining eight were all nominally assigned to the general affairs department, performing clerical work while awaiting handover to the current employees in their permanent positions.

Because Naga and Ami had only successfully recruited one of the three targets the personnel department had acquired, the twelve new recruits were not yet on Ami's agenda. However, based on the appearances of the twelve, Naga estimated that only about five of them would be targeted, and the one that Ami might be eager to transfer to the personnel department to target first was probably Mizuhara Yoshimi, who had an idol-like face but always wore black-rimmed glasses, always looked down when looking at people, wasn't very bright, and had a very alluring figure.

To be honest, if it weren't for the recent engagement ceremony and the fact that her desires had been well-suppressed, Naga would have been quite restless.

There's a description that perfectly captures Yoshimi Mizuhara's essence: a girl who makes you want to commit a crime against her. This quality, subtly present in Kae Matsushima, is overflowing in her. He could tell at first glance that this girl must have been bullied a lot during her school days, and even if she had never had a boyfriend, she was probably no longer a virgin.

Even normal men would have the urge to see her cry, let alone Ami, whose sexual fetish is completely inclined towards sadism.

Sure enough, in her second week at the company, Yoshimi Mizuhara was officially transferred to the Human Resources Department for an internship.
