She tried several more times, each attempt ending in failure. Finally, she sank onto the bed, her shoulders slumping, and her voice quivered. "Hubby, I've lost contact with the mindscape."
Ryan walked over and sat beside her, letting her lean against him. His hand gently stroked her back, slow and steady, grounding her. "Has this ever happened before?" he asked calmly.
Mary shook her head. "No. This is the first time."
"Then don't be afraid," Ryan said softly. "Try again later."
Her fingers clenched tightly around his sleeve, anxiety spilling into her voice. "What if… what if the mindscape just disappears?"
Ryan looked at her seriously, his gaze unwavering. "Don't be scared," he said in a low, firm voice. "Even if it disappears, you still have me."
Those words settled her racing heart. Slowly, Mary began to calm down. As her thoughts cleared, another possibility surfaced.
