Chapter 8 - A Different Tier

It was over an hour later when Evan drove back to University.

He had been driving for that entire hour, and frankly, he was a bit reluctant to let go of the car.

At the school gate, after Evan showed his student ID to the guard, the guard let him drive into the gate.

Parking was allowed inside the school, there was a parking lot, and both teachers and students could park, though students had to pay a fee.

The parking lot was next to the school supermarket.

"As Evan drove through campus, the brand-new BMW X5—still sporting a temporary license plate—attracted the attention of many professors and students."

The skyscraper grey color looked particularly good in the sunlight.

Some discerning teachers even recognized it as a top-of-the-line BMW X5, costing over $120,000 yuan.

However, because the car windows were tinted, Evan, who was driving inside, was not seen by them.

Soon, Evan drove to the school's supermarket, with the parking lot right next to it.

The parking lot was quite large, but Evan was too lazy to drive deep inside, as he would have to walk out after parking, so he simply found an empty spot near the entrance area and parked the car there.

-----

The supermarket next to the parking lot was called welcome Supermarket, covering over three hundred square meters and having two floors. Because it had a complete range of goods and the prices were relatively affordable, students from the University were willing to come here to buy things.

At this moment, Emily was buying things on the first floor of the supermarket.

After she came out of the cafeteria at noon, she went back to her dormitory for a nap. When she woke up, she wanted to wash her hair and brush her teeth, but she accidentally dropped her toothbrush on the floor, so she came to the supermarket to buy a new one.

Toothbrushes were in the northwest corner of the first floor. After Emily picked out a toothbrush, she also bought some small snacks and prepared to go to the checkout counter.

Just then, a surprised voice came from beside her.

"Junior, it's you! What a coincidence, I actually ran into you at the supermarket."

Hearing this voice, Emily turned her head to look. When she saw the boy who was speaking, she frowned.

Because this boy was a sophomore who had previously been in charge of welcoming freshmen.

When Emily reported for admission, this sophomore was very attentive.

Afterward, he often messaged Emily on the chat and even tried to ask her out for dinner several times.

Emily, of course, knew what this senior's intentions were.

But she had no other thoughts about this senior, so she always politely declined.

She had thought that this senior would gradually give up, but she didn't expect to run into him here.

Emily frowned, intending to pretend she hadn't seen him, but it was impossible. Therefore, she could only nod at him.

"Junior Emily, are you here to buy a toothbrush and snacks?"

David stepped forward and stopped in front of Emily. He glanced at the items in Emily's hand and said with a smile.

As he spoke, he looked at Emily, a hint of eagerness in his eyes.

Although Emily was currently wearing black casual long pants and her legs weren't very exposed, he knew how good-looking Emily's legs were. When he was in charge of welcoming freshmen, he was smitten the moment he saw Emily.

Her legs were truly long.

And besides her legs, Emily's bright and beautiful facial features were also deeply etched in his heart.

So he had messaged Emily a lot this past month, but unfortunately, she rarely replied, and even when she did, her attitude was very businesslike.

David knew this meant Emily was rejecting him, but he wouldn't give up because Emily was too beautiful.

He couldn't even imagine how happy he would be if he could win her over and make her his girlfriend.

How envious his friends would be of him.

Therefore, after seeing Emily just now, he was almost immediately excited.

"Yes, I came to buy a toothbrush and some snacks."

Meeting David's eager gaze, Emily frowned her beautiful eyebrows again, but then she returned to her calm demeanor.

"Senior, you can continue shopping. I've already finished buying things and am ready to check out."

After speaking, Emily simply waved her hand and prepared to leave.

But David had finally bumped into her, so how could he bear to give up such a good opportunity?

As a sophomore, he knew a truth deeply: a good woman is afraid of a persistent suitor.

As long as he kept pursuing Emily, he didn't believe she wouldn't be moved.

Besides, his conditions weren't bad, were they? He was somewhat handsome, was in the Student Union, and his family background was also good, with a monthly living allowance of $500.

Therefore, he was quite confident in himself.

"I was going to buy something, but after seeing you, Junior, I forgot what I was going to buy. Let's go out together, Junior."

David said.

Hearing him say this, Emily glanced at him, feeling a little annoyed, but after thinking about it, she didn't say anything.

Going out together was fine; she was going back to her dormitory anyway.

And seeing that Emily didn't refuse, David rejoiced internally.

The two walked towards the supermarket checkout counter. Along the way, because of Emily 's beauty and figure, many boys' eyes frequently looked over, and even the gazes directed at David carried envy.

Feeling such gazes, David felt himself floating.

He turned his head and looked at Emily 's delicate and fair beautiful profile, and his desire to win her over grew even stronger.

"Junior, it's getting late now. Shall I treat you to dinner later? I happen to know a new restaurant that just opened near University gate. It's quite good, we can go together."

David extended an invitation.

"Oh, really? But I've already made plans with my roommates for a dinner gathering tonight, so I'm afraid I won't have time," Emily said, feigning regret.

She had been pursued by boys since she was little, so she naturally knew how to reject them.

"What's the big deal? Just call your roommates to come along. It's not a big deal at all. I'll treat all of you to dinner."

David heard Emily's refusal, but he pretended not to.

It was still the same thing: he wanted to win Emily over.

"No, we've already made plans, so we won't trouble you, Senior, to spend money. When we have time another day, we can eat together."

Emily had already arrived at the checkout counter. She placed her items on the counter.

The clerk scanned them one by one, and then said.

"$3."

"Okay, got it." Emily nodded. Just as she was about to take out her phone to pay, David, who had been preparing beside her, had already taken out his phone and paid.

"Senior, you don't need to pay for me."

Emily frowned. It was only $3, and she really didn't want to be indebted to David or gain the reputation of him treating her.

If that got out, it would be bad for her reputation.

Emily knew she possessed beauty and a good figure, so she wanted to find a very well-off boyfriend in University.

That way, she could achieve class ascension.

For this, she was unwilling to let her reputation be tarnished.

Once her reputation was bad, she wouldn't be able to achieve class ascension. The more well-off a boy was, the more he cared about his girlfriend's reputation.

This was also why she rejected David; his conditions in all aspects did not meet her requirements.

Although his family background was decent, it wasn't enough to allow her to achieve class ascension.

"It's just a small amount of money, it's fine..."

David waved his hand and said with a smile.

Emily glanced at him and directly took out her phone to send David $3.

"Senior, claim the money," Emily said.

"Junior, what are you doing? It's only $3, there's no need to be so polite with me, right?"

Looking at the $3 Emily sent, David was stunned for a moment, then said.

"If you don't claim the red packet, then I don't want these things, and I'll delete you right now."

Emily said directly.

"You... alright, I'll accept it."

Seeing Emily say that, David could only open his phone and accept it. It was exactly $3, no more, no less.

What a good woman.

David thought to himself, and then his desire to win Emily over became even stronger.

Emily ignored him, picked up her things, and walked out of the supermarket.

"Junior..." David followed her out, about to speak, but at that moment he saw a brand new BMW X5 drive past him and then enter the adjacent parking lot.

Emily's beautiful eyes were also subconsciously attracted.

She couldn't quite describe the color of this BMW, but she just felt it was both youthful and attractive, exuding a sporty and fashionable vibe.
