Chapter 45 - Ambush

Tuanzi held Amir's hand and led her back to Asam.

Her voice was cold and unwavering.

"You may not be a good father," she said bluntly,

"but your daughter is the kindest person in the world."

"If I ever hear that you sold Amir again,"

"then the remaining three of you can just wait to die."

Asam did nothing but kneel and bow repeatedly, apologizing over and over.

Dull thuds echoed as his forehead struck the sand.

Amir rushed forward and hugged her father tightly, crying.

"Father, this was my choice. I did it to save Mom and my brother.

You don't need to blame yourself—it wasn't your fault."

Asam buried his face in the sand, his voice barely audible.

"I could have stopped you… but I didn't.

By not stopping you, I chose your brother."

"I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…"

"Father," Amir whispered gently,

"if I truly wanted to do it, you couldn't have stopped me anyway.

This isn't your fault."

Tuanzi squatted down and looked calmly at Amir.

"You're a good person. And an even better daughter.

To repay your parents while they're still alive… I envy you."

"Benefactor… your parents—"

Amir hesitated. She was sharp and kind; she immediately sensed something behind Tuanzi's words.

"They're dead," Tuanzi replied flatly.

"Killed by the Celestial Dragons two years ago."

"So now, all I can do is take revenge."

"As for repaying kindness…"

She looked down at the deep-blue Dragon-Slayer, murmuring,

"That'll have to wait for the next life."

Amir suddenly stood up and hugged Tuanzi tightly, without hesitation.

"Then let me be your family."

Tuanzi nodded heavily.

After formally introducing themselves, the two girls became sworn sisters.

Amir was a year older—so she became the elder sister.

They promised to meet again here someday.

Only then did they part, reluctantly.

Asam carried the half-barrel of water in his left hand and held Amir's hand with his right.

Amir turned back again and again, waving to Tuanzi.

Watching them leave, Tuanzi spun around angrily.

"Master, let's go. We're killing the king."

Logan couldn't help but laugh.

But he said nothing.

For a child her age to possess such pure kindness—that alone was already rare.

The rest… could come later.

Time was still on their side.

"Boss," Logan called to the fat man.

"Does your hand still hurt?"

The fat boss's arm was wrapped so thickly in bandages it looked like a rice dumpling.

He shook his head violently, fat jiggling.

"Doesn't hurt! Not at all! If you hadn't mentioned it, I'd say it's almost healed!"

He didn't dare sit—only stood nervously by the table.

His hired thugs, swords in hand, were finally relaxing.

They all felt lucky—after witnessing that ghostlike movement, they knew they were nowhere near the same level.

Logan calmly sipped his tea, fingers tapping lightly on the table.

"Boss," he said slowly,

"You're a smart man. Smart men don't need to be taught what to do next."

"No need! Absolutely no need!" the fat boss hurriedly replied.

"I swear I'll never retaliate. And from now on, whenever Asam's family buys water here—it'll be half price!"

"One look and I knew—you're no ordinary man.

That little girl is already terrifying; her master can only be a dragon among men."

"And honestly, just from what you said earlier… I accept this loss."

Logan smiled sincerely.

He stood, patted the man's shoulder, then flicked his wrist—

another two hundred thousand Beli landed on the table.

"Prepaid tea money," Logan said loudly.

"I'll be back in a while."

With that, master and disciple set off again.

Tuanzi slung Town-Sea across her back, Dragon-Slayer at her waist.

Before leaving, she turned and shot the fat boss a vicious glare.

His entire body shuddered. Cold sweat poured down his back.

The skinny shop assistant pointed timidly at the money.

"Boss… what do we do with this?"

"What do you think? Take it!"

The fat boss wailed miserably.

He watched the two figures disappear into the yellow sands, muttering,

"That girl Amir… really proves the saying—good deeds bring good fortune.

She actually met a benefactor today."

"What's a benefactor?" the assistant asked.

The fat boss exploded in rage, instinctively raising his bandaged hand to smack him.

"Your damn head is the benefactor—!"

The next second—

Both men screamed like pigs being slaughtered.

The desert stretched endlessly.

Logan and Tuanzi walked out of the small town.

They weren't far from Port City Naroahala, so Logan chose not to summon the Flying Nimbus.

Naroahala was the largest port in Alabasta—nearly every ship docked there.

If Luffy and the others were in the country, they would almost certainly pass through it.

Beyond the town, the desert grew even more desolate.

As far as the eye could see—nothing but golden sand.

Sunlight scattered across it like a sea of yellow fire.

Occasionally, sandstorms rose into the air, swirling like dancers in golden dresses.

Tuanzi followed silently behind Logan, step by step.

But every footprint they left was quickly erased by the wind, returning the desert to its untouched stillness.

Not far ahead—

A group of men in yellow robes had already been waiting.

One of them lowered his binoculars.

"That's them. They're almost here."

Mr. 5 took the binoculars and glanced at the white-haired man and the little girl behind him.

He nodded in satisfaction.

"Little Six's information was spot-on. That man looks seriously injured."

"Should be easy to eat them alive."

Little Six scratched his head and chuckled.

He'd spotted those two fat sheep in town earlier.

When he saw Logan casually pull out fifty thousand Beli without blinking, he knew his luck had arrived.

He immediately tipped off Mr. 5.

Since Mr. 5 already made side money through robbery, he didn't hesitate.

They'd been lying in wait along the road to Naroahala ever since.

"Damn it, they're slow," Mr. 5 cursed.

"This should've taken twenty minutes. It's been nearly an hour."

Little Six licked his lips, eyes glinting greedily.

"Boss… doesn't that just prove they're completely exhausted?"
