The fire was still burning when Kiera arrived.

Flames tore through the warehouse like a living thing, devouring pallets of blankets, food supplies, medical kits — everything the foundation had stored for the coming winter. Smoke rose thick and black into the sky, choking the air with the smell of ash and loss.

Firefighters battled the inferno desperately, hoses spraying torrents of water that hissed against the heat.

Kiera stood frozen behind the barricade.

Those supplies had been meant for thousands.

Children.

Mothers.

Elderly men who slept on cold sidewalks.

All gone in minutes.

Her hands shook violently.

"This was his message," she whispered.

Kade stood beside her, jaw locked so tightly the muscles twitched. "Yes. And it's working exactly how he wants — pushing you emotionally."

Tears streamed down her face, but her eyes burned with fury.

"I won't let him keep hurting innocent people."

"Then we end this fast," Kade said.

She turned to him sharply. "How?"
