Lana's POV
Since we left the lake I didn't say a word. The ride down was smooth and quiet, and thankfully he didn't try to bring up any conversation which I was so grateful for but now I was worried. Could I still use my vocals? Because that's the deepest anything had gone down my throat.
By the time I got home, my body felt like it had been dragged through the night, literally every single part of my body burned, even my head, not to mention my throat that ached like I shoved a full spade down it.
The house was quiet when I stepped in, the lights dim, with the familiar scent of detergent and air freshener wrapping around me.
One thing about me was I loved nice scents. I always want my surroundings to have that rich smell of anything nice. And yes I was a fragrance lover, I could pick up a scent from miles away.
Blue had always wondered how I did that but even I didn't know.
I kicked off my shoes slowly and stepped in.
That was when I heard hurried footsteps on the stairs.
I didn't bother to check who it was because I could already guess
"Lana?"
Blue appeared at the top, already halfway panicking, her hair was tied up in a messy knot, with her phone clutched tightly in one hand.
"Oh my God," she breathed, rushing down the remaining steps.
"Where the hell have you been?"
I barely had the energy to lift up my head.
"I've been calling you since this morning," she continued, words tumbling out fast. "Like…..bitch, why has your phone been switched off? Do you know you almost gave me a heart attack?"
I said nothing. Just nodded once, slowly, dropping my bag on the floor.
She stopped short in front of me, finally really looking at me.
Her expression shifted.
"…What happened to you? You look like a mess".
I shrugged, my shoulders heavy. "You tell me."
She frowned. "What does that mean?"
I looked up then, looking deep into her eyes properly. "Wow," I said quietly. "So worried you left me in the care of a stranger last night."
Blue froze.
For a second, she looked like she'd been caught stealing.
"Well…." she stammered. "I…..I didn't exactly leave you just like that."
I hummed, stepping past her toward the couch. "Okayyyy. What did you do?."
She followed me, biting her lip. "I mean… you fainted at the bar. I couldn't drag you home alone last night so when he offered to take you to his penthouse… I mean I had to accept. He dropped his card with me. A… and he didn't look like he'd hurt you. And besides you look.." she paused, squinting at my face.
Then her eyes widened.
"Oh."
I dropped onto the couch, exhaustion pulling me down like gravity.
"Oh?"
She leaned closer, inspecting me like evidence. "Your face," she said slowly. "It's all…. Flushed." then she covers her mouth like she had just realized something".
Blue had always been a dramatic person from the day we met.
Always expressive and never gave a damn about what anybody thought of her and I envied her for it most times.
But now I had to show her how pissed I was so I shot her a look. "Blue."
She grinned so wide to herself, wiggling her eyebrows. "Don't 'Blue' me. That look?" She snapped her fingers. "That's not an I was with a stranger look." "That's more like something happened that I loved look.'"
I scoffed. "You're unbelievable."
"Tell me what happened," she pressed, flopping down beside me.
"Come on. I've been worried sick all day and now you walk in looking like you just stepped out of session with Mr stranger."
I leaned my head back against the couch, shaking my head, and staring at the ceiling.
"Nothing," I lied.
She laughed. "Yeah, you must think I'm stupid then?"
Silence stretched between us for a moment. Only God knew how red I was.
"Fine- ahh he was goodddd. Likeee girlllll" I screamed and covered my face as images of the past night flooded in.
"I said it…. Something definitely went down with Mr stranger" She laughed
Then she softened. "Lana," she said quietly. "There's a parcel for you. Someone delivered something this morning at the door. And… there's more. The agency also sent mail to the desktop, guess you haven't seen it."
I turned to look at her.
"What's in it?"
"i don't know I haven't opened it yet… I was waiting for you".
I didn't respond immediately. My throat tightened in a way I didn't like.
I suspected two things but I didn't say either. One because I signed an agreement not to tell a third person and the other I just didn't want to think of it.
She brought it from the table in front and handed it to me.
I felt just papers in it. But I guess the reaction on my face must have told her otherwise.
"Common open it. ," she continued. "I'm getting worked up L."
I nodded slowly. "Yeah erm…. Yeah.. ." I swallowed.
I tore it open and brought out the papers carefully. It was a court order.
I had from now till the next three days to pay up the money the agency had sued for.
The room had grown quiet and heavier than ever.
"A million fucking dollar's Blue. How do they expect me to get it?" I hadn't finished speaking when the door bell rang again.
We both looked at each other with one expression because neither of us expected anyone.
"It's a parcel again!!!" She waved it as she closed the door behind her.
"It says…. Erm…. For Miss Hale. From M I G Legal Team". She shrugs giving the do you know who look.
"It's no one" I replied, snatching it from her hands. "Your phone can I make use of it. It's urgent".
I take it from her without a word to any of her questions. Compose my message and clear every trace of it.
"I'd let you know, I promise. For now it's mandatory I don't say a word"
Is it dangerous?" That was the only question she's asked me.
"No blue it not" at this point I was tired of talking.
Her shoulders relaxed slightly.
"Alright that's all. But why does that name look familiar? M I G. It's like I've seen before..".
