Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: 'The Forsaken Abomination'

Farida's tone was extremely serious, her gaze incredibly firm, and her heart unwavering.

Shayev knew she wasn't joking, nor was she acting on impulse.

"Miss Hood, what are you doing!" Shayev found Farida's unusual behavior incomprehensible:

"You were born into the most respected Hood Family in Abyss Port, your parents are highly decorated and have achieved great feats, and this boy is just a Lower Hive maggot sentenced to death!"

"I promised to help him investigate his background, and I have already submitted a blood sample to the Navy Department. Before everything is finalized, I swear by the Hood Family's name to protect his safety. Teacher, please understand!"

Arbitrator Inspector Shawi, who had always maintained a stern face, gritted his teeth in anger. He ordered the Arbitrators to first escort the renegade Security Inspector into the vehicle, then he would properly deal with his student.

He didn't intend to waste any more words and personally walked towards the ready Horatio.

[Tsk, always giving me moral dilemmas.] Horatio's face was grim as he let out a sigh.

Shayev was Farida's mentor and a senior enforcer of the Imperial Department of Legal Affairs. Whether he fought him or not, he would not have a good outcome.

"The world is truly degenerating. Can anything wear the Adeptus Arbites's uniform and equipment these days? What a disgrace!"

Shayev chambered a round in the shotgun he held with a click. Hearing that highly deterrent click, Horatio couldn't help but shiver, but he quickly calmed down again.

"Teacher!" Farida suddenly cried out.

"Nothing you say today will matter."

"No... that guy..." Farida's voice trembled as she looked in terror behind Shayev.

"You think I lost... Hehehe, but I am the one chosen by Him!"

The disfigured Security Inspector stood up with a laugh, one arm mutated into a sharp, pincer-like daemon claw, and the wounds on his face were slowly healing.

[That's it!] Horatio had seen the exact same thing in the Slaaneshi Daemonettes' illustrations.

Gaa gaa gaa—Horatio heard the bionic arm in his hand make a sound like a Geiger counter.

Horatio looked at the bionic arm; the psychic energy stored in its bars was slowly rising.

[High psychic environment!]

"Ah!"

The Arbitrator's shrill scream broke the terrifying silence. Shayev immediately turned his head, his expression darkening.

The chilling scream also pulled Horatio back from his astonishment.

Of the two Arbitrators who had gone to apprehend the Security Inspector, the closest one had his head severed by a pincer, blood gushing from his broken neck.

"Hahahaha, want to catch me? Shayev, you're still too green. Your superior will always be your superior. I will kill all of you and stomp your heads into paste on the ground!"

The mutation continued; the man's body became incredibly muscular, and the silver armor straps on him snapped one after another.

"Ah~ Great Master, I feel your extraordinary power! Please bestow upon me your might, I will offer you the hearts of False Emperor worshippers! Quench your thirst with the blood of wayward nobles! Welcome your descent with the bodies of Dark Sons!"

Farida immediately opened fire, but under the blessing of Chaos power, the renegade Security Inspector swung his large pincer, calmly deflecting the bullets.

[What to do! I have to do something! Otherwise, if this guy really escalates into something formidable, the remains of everyone here won't be enough for his puzzle.]

Horatio deliberately shouted with feigned indignation: "How could this be! You are so cunning, so intelligent, to play us so completely in the palm of your hand. Damn it, we were all tricked by you!"

"What time is it, why are you shouting!"

Horatio had tried his best to sound sincerely complimentary, even he almost believed it himself.

A chill suddenly spread from the Security Inspector's heart.

"Eh?!"

He looked at his body in surprise; the blessing had stopped, replaced by twisted mutation.

"No... No no no! Ugh ah ugh! Not like this! Please! Ah ah ah!"

His screams grew thicker and thicker, as if his throat were blocked by cysts.

With a horrifying crack, his skull suddenly split down the middle, forming a fissure like an Antcow's crossed mandibles.

His formerly muscular back muscles began to swell excessively, until they bulged into a sphere, and his thick arms actually forked into two deformed arms at the elbows.

The blessing began to develop in a terrifying direction of mutation, showing both Slaanesh's signs and Tzeentch's form, but ultimately he was one abandoned by the Chaos Gods / The Four Gods. The psychic concentration stopped abruptly after reaching a certain level, not causing irreversible consequences.

[Turning into... a lesser Chaos Spawn?]

After successfully preventing the blessing, Horatio let out half a breath of relief.

It felt as tense as gambling on the strength of the Winds of Magic before a battle.

Of course, this time he won.

The lesser Chaos Spawn before him seemed to be Tzeentch's joke, a deliberate stumble for Slaanesh.

It wasn't unconquerably large, nor did it have the power to instantly rot people upon touch.

But even so, this two-and-a-half-meter-tall giant meatball, covered in sharp, deadly living claws, was still not to be underestimated.

Horatio not only didn't relax but became even more vigilant.

As a transmigrator, he understood the laws of the Warhammer world—

—the more one underestimated the creations of the Chaos Gods / The Four Gods, the more likely one would be shattered by an unexpected trump card.

When this monster appeared in the world, whether it was Horatio, Farida, or the Arbitrators of the Imperial Department of Legal Affairs, everyone immediately set aside their differences and focused fire on this unclean creature together.

The Arbitrator of the Adeptus Arbites closest to it fired several shots, sparks flying, but the projectiles were blocked by a strange Warp shield.

Protected by the strange Warp shield, the lesser Chaos Spawn opened its horrifying maw, clamping an Arbitrator like an Antcow, followed by chilling screams and the sound of bones shattering.

"God Emperor..."

Farida, who had never witnessed such a mutated monster, was deeply terrified by this gruesome scene.

She shot at the rampaging Chaos Spawn, but her body trembled uncontrollably, affecting her aim.

Until the receiver made a crisp click, wasting the large-caliber full metal jacket rounds in the magazine that could have potentially shattered the Warp shield.

Nourished by the blood, the lesser Chaos Spawn began to swell at a visible rate.

[Can eating people make a lesser Chaos Spawn grow into a Chaos Spawn?]

Horatio immediately sensed trouble. If they couldn't break the Warp shield, this monster could completely devour the under-gunned and wounded Adeptus Arbites team, relying on its psychic physical resistance.

"Ah!" A wounded Arbitrator, unable to escape, was crushed to pieces by the large meatball.

The meatball sat on the corpse, absorbing the minced flesh and blood, and two scythe-like horrifying claws grew from its back.

Just as he was thinking about how to deal with this Chaos Spawn, this meatball was churning like a stormy sea, relying on its thick skin, tough flesh, and Warp shield to crush the survivors, making it impossible to form sustained suppressive fire.

And the Catrell laser gun in his hand was just a flashlight, hitting the Warp shield without even a ripple of damage.

[Firepower... Firepower...]

Horatio anxiously looked around, searching for the heavy firepower he longed for.

Suddenly, he noticed that the Adeptus Arbites's armored vehicle had a rotatable turret with a .66-inch (16.8 mm) caliber bolter mounted on it.

He glanced at Shayev and immediately rushed towards the armored vehicle.

[Trying to hijack the vehicle and escape?! You wish!]

Shayev, who had always remained vigilant towards Horatio, looked at him. Just as he was about to give chase, before he could take a few steps, he was sent flying by the roaring Chaos Spawn's whip-like barbed tongue, crashing into the shuttle's outer wall. The sturdy steel plate slightly dented, showing the immense force.

"Cough cough." Blood spurted from Shawei Arbitrator's mouth. He staggered, trying to stand up, but the Chaos Spawn didn't want to give its food that chance.

Even if Farida drew her secondary weapon and fired with all her might, she couldn't stop the Chaos Spawn in the slightest.

And strangely, the twisted monster naturally ignored Farida, as if it couldn't see her at all.

Buzz—Click—

*BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!*

Just as the twisted Chaos Spawn opened its terrifying, hideous maw and charged towards the Arbitrator Inspector in the nick of time.

The distinctive sound of bolter fire and the whistling of bolter shells swept across the entire gore-strewn junkyard.
