The void was different this time.
When Rowan's soul left his drowning body in the Paranormal Realm, he expected to see Nyphrin—the divine presence who had guided him through his first transmigration, who had explained the system and given him his mission with something approaching warmth.
But the space between worlds was empty now. Just endless black stretching in all directions, cold and sterile and utterly devoid of the feminine presence that had made this cosmic horror slightly more bearable.
"Hello?" Rowan called into the darkness, his voice swallowing up immediately like sound couldn't exist here.
No response. No shimmering goddess. No reassuring smile.
Just silence.
And then a voice. Not warm or divine or remotely comforting. Just flat, mechanical, utterly inhuman.
