Chapter Fifty-Four – Paranormal Realm 52
The first thing I noticed was the ceiling.
It was the same ceiling from before. Damon's room. Same dark wooden beams, same unfamiliar stillness. I stared at it for a moment, blinking slowly, trying to remember how I got horizontal when the last thing I remembered was the bathroom floor tilting underneath me.
Then the voices registered.
Low. Urgent. Too many of them for a room that was supposed to have only three people in it.
I turned my head.
And immediately wished I had taken a moment to prepare myself, because every single person I knew and loved was standing in this room looking at me like I had personally scared ten years off their lives.
Mom was sitting on the edge of the bed closest to me, her hand wrapped around mine so tightly I was surprised I hadn't felt it before now. Her eyes were red. She had been crying. Actually crying, which immediately made my chest hurt in a way that had nothing to do with nausea.
