Chapter 20 - Preparing For The Four Temples

Early morning.

Gentle sunlight streamed into the room, stinging the sleeping person awake from their dreams.

"Mmm..."

A sticky groan escaped her mouth. The blonde lightly furrowed her brow and half-opened one hazy eye. What greeted her sight was a pure, milky white color, rising and falling rhythmically.

...Did I go to heaven?

Feeling it was still early, she was too groggy and lazy to get up and draw the curtains. So she tried to roll over, turning her back to the window to sleep a little longer but the moment she turned her head—

"Pfft—"

That "mass" of white softness directly bumped her lips. The warm sensation carried a faint fragrance, almost forcing its way into her mouth.

Lumine blinked in surprise, finally realizing where she had buried her face.

"Mmm-hmm..." The Flügel lightly frowned and smacked her lips indistinctly.

Immediately before Lumine could react, a wing suddenly wrapped around her from behind as it was tightening more and more.

Her nose was completely pressed in. A faint aroma mixed with the Flügel's unique scent rushed into her nose and mouth and a feeling of suffocation gradually crept up along with the soft sensation.

Lumine: This is the most despairing way to die.

The fingers she had resting on the Flügel's lower back twitched twice, then fiercely pinched.

"Ah!!!" Jibril shrieked and her body was pushed away by Lumine.

Almost simultaneously, a short scream came from the other side of the bed, followed by the dull thud of a heavy object hitting the floor.

When Paimon finally managed to climb back, clinging to the edge of the bed while clutching her reddened forehead, this was the scene she saw:

Two beautiful young women were kneeling on the messy bedding, their hair equally disheveled as they stared at each other.

Lumine was covering her still-red nose while Jibril was blankly rubbing the freshly acquired marks on her waist, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes, pouting pitifully.

Paimon blinked blankly. "Did you two... fight?"

[Main Quest completed. Rewards obtained: Increasing Lösen durability, destructive power, and attack power against elemental constructs.]

[Increasing ability, Spatial Shift. Can now move with other people, no upper limit on quantity]

[T/L: Spatial Shift is her TP ability, I don't think it's ever been name dropped before.]

[Tip: You drooled in your sleep last night and she even wiped it for you... Heh~]

That damn system... how dare it mock me!

Jibril blushed and the cup in her hand began to creak as if it would explode the next second. Splashing the milky white liquid all over her body and soaking the fabric.

Just then, a towel flew smack onto her face.

"Hurry up and wash up or we'll be late!" Lumine stood by the wall with one hand on her hip.

"...Oh."

Jibril avoided eye contact with a slight guilt, scratched her exposed belly and walked into the bathroom holding the towel.

She almost tripped over her own wings when closing the door.

"Sigh..."

Lumine tucked a strand of hair back, her gaze sweeping over the blurry, swaying silhouette behind the glass bathroom door and a faint blush unconsciously rose on her cheeks.

"Traveler..." Paimon flew over listlessly as she incessantly picked at her fingers. "Did Paimon squeeze you guys last night?"

"Hmm?"

After a brief silence, just as Paimon was about to secretly look up, a warm hand gently rested on the top of her head.

"Don't worry, you didn't squeeze us at all." Lumine said gently rubbing Paimon's soft hair.

"But tonight... Paimon has to sleep between us, okay?"

"Okay!" Although she didn't know why, Paimon immediately nodded, returning to her energetic self.

After Jibril finished getting ready, Lumine and Paimon quickly dragged the still-sleepy girl outside. When the group arrived at the gate of Mondstadt's city, they saw the Knights of Favonius members who had been waiting for a long time.

"How was your rest last night?" Jean asked first.

"Very well!" Lumine and Paimon both nodded, looking refreshed and energetic.

"Hah~ Not bad..."

Amber looked worriedly at the yawning young woman. "Jibril, did you not rest well last night? You look very tired."

"Ah... don't mind me. I just... haven't quite gotten used to waking up early."

The Flügel's head bobbed up and down, her golden crossed eyes narrowed into slits and even her ear feathers drooped limply. It truly made one worry if she would suddenly fall from mid-air... However, under her own assurance, the Knights of Favonius members didn't say much more and began to move according to the pre-arranged groups.

Lumine set off first, following Amber. Jibril also had Paimon stay by Lumine's side, just in case.

Originally, watching Lumine's retreating figure, Jibril had felt inexplicably relieved for a moment. However, just as Lumine was about to reach the bridgehead, she suddenly glanced back toward Jibril.

The Flügel realized with alarm that a feeling of reluctance had arisen in her heart.

Guah! This yellow Succubus is truly terrifying!

[Oh c'mon~ do you know how hot you were last night? I wanted to come out and—]

The Flügel automatically filtered out the 18+ language from the System.

"Alright, we should set off too..."

Kaeya stood up, checked his equipment and was about to leave when Jibril immediately called out to him.

"What is it, Jibril?"

"Where are we going? The Temple of the Wolf?"

Kaeya scratched his head in confusion. "That's right. We should leave quickly; it's not close to Mondstadt's city."

Jibril did not answer Kaeya but instead silently placed her hand lightly on his shoulder. Before he could ask, her golden crossed eyes suddenly lit up—

The surrounding scenery receded and reformed like a tide. The world fell completely silent, then was able to emit sound again.

By the time Kaeya's Vision refocused, the two were already standing on a hillside outside the city.

The sound of the wind swept past their ears, carrying the scent of dandelions from afar. The city gate was already blurred into a speck of light and this had happened in just an instant.

"Wow~" Kaeya smoothed his wind-blown collar as a flicker of admiration in his single eye. "This power... it truly is miraculous! Do you really not possess a Vision?"

"A Vision?" Jibril showed a look of contempt.

"Although it is a 'gaze cast down,' it is merely an external object in the end. It's a good thing I don't have something like that or I'd lose face."

The Flügel spoke a lot of nonsense like this and Kaeya stood aside, understanding nothing.

"Alright... let's continue. But before, could you warn me next time you do something like that? I almost offered my breakfast to the Anemo Archon."

"The Anemo Archon probably wouldn't appreciate it."

"I was just joking. I hope he... won't be angry~"

The Flügel stared thoughtfully at her palm. "...But this ability really is amazing. I didn't expect to succeed the first time I brought someone along."

"What??" Kaeya's smile instantly froze.

"Oh... nothing!" Jibril immediately dropped her dazed expression and grabbed the man's shoulder again. "I mean, let's continue on our way!"

A flash of light appeared. Jibril, pulling Kaeya's cape, teleported again, leaving behind only an unfinished scream.
