Liz bowed slightly. "Thank you."
"No," the caregiver smiled warmly. "You should thank Mr. West."
"He was very insistent that you needed someone looking after things here."
A few moments later, after the caregiver left... her fiancé chuckled. "...That man really is something."
Liz nodded absentmindedly. "...Yeah."
"He really is."
They sat together for several quiet moments before her fiancé suddenly tilted his head.
"Hm."
"What?"
He smiled. "...You seem to be glowing."
Liz blinked. "...Really?"
He nodded. "Yeah."
He studied her face carefully before adding. "It's strange."
"For the past several months..."
"It felt like there was always this..."
He searched for the right word.
"...deadness."
"Not because you stopped smiling."
"You still smiled."
