Rin whimpered, her eyes widened, her mouth parted slightly from shock. She was furious. She got up, staring at Kai with fierce eyes.
"Thanks for the warning. " she sarcastically said while rubbing her sore butt. The sound of her palm on her pants was loud in the tense air.
Kai's expression remained impassive, but his eyes seemed to gleam with a hint of amusement. "We should leave now," he said, turning to walk away. "They managed to break in."
Rin glared at his back, her anger boiling over. She hated his guts, but she had no choice. This was the fourth time she had been hunted, and she didn't know why. Kai was just another predator to her, but he protected her from the others and made her feel safe.
Swallowing her anger, she quickly followed him. "So what now?" she asked, trying to sound nonchalant. "Stealing another car?"
Kai stopped and turned to face her, his eyebrows raised in surprise. "Steal?" he repeated, his voice dripping with disapproval.
Rin's sarcasm kicked in. "Oh, yes, I forgot. You probably borrowed it." her voice was laced with venom, and Kai's eyes narrowed slightly.
Kai's expression remained flat. "I don't steal."
Rin rolled her eyes.
"Okay... seriously, I don't steal. The car wasn't his, I just borrowed it to make my job easier. There are many cars more faster and better than his. Don't you think I could have taken one of them?" Kai asked his voice slightly raiseda in annoyance.
Rin fell silent, her anger simmering. "Do you expect me to think good of you after capturing me?" she snapped, glaring at Kai fiercely.
Kai ignored her expression and turned to walk away. "I couldn't care less about you, talk more of your feelings and impressions of me," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.
Rin's eyes widened, her body trembled with rage, unable to speak as pain and anger surfaced in her eyes. As he turned to walk away, Rin's next words stopped him cold in his tracks. "Then why don't you just kill me?" she yelled, her eyes teary
Kai turned, his eyes bloodshot, the corner of his lips lifting slightly as he approached her. He slowly walked, causing Rin to shrink backwards, fear gripped her as her heart thumped faster. In a flash, he appeared in front of her, grabbed her shoulders, his eyes darkened. "In a rush to die, are we?" he mused, his voice sending a chill down Rin's spine. His grip was like a vice. Rin felt a surge of pain mixed with adrenaline.
Rin stood petrified in fear, her body frozen in place as Kai's ear twitched and his iris began to turn a shade of red, like the glow of a burning ember. The air was thick with tension, and Rin's heart pounded in her chest, a wild drumbeat that threatened to consume her.
"Do you think I won't kill you if I could," Kai spat coldly, his voice like a whip cracking through the air. His eyes seemed to bore into Rin's soul, and she felt a shiver run down her spine.
Rin trembled, summoning courage she asked while avoiding his gaze, her voice barely above a whisper. "Then what am I to you?" She asked firmly and turned to him as tears streamed from her eyes. "Why am I being chased around? What do you want from me?"
Kai's expression was a mask of indifference, but Rin caught a glimpse of something else, a flicker of emotion that was quickly suppressed.
"We should leave, they would be here any moment."
Rin's anger flared, like a match struck in a dark room. "I am not leaving with you!" She yelled, her voice shrill, as she took a step back, her heels scraping against the pavement. Her mind was racing, thoughts of escape and survival swirling in her head.
As she thought about her situation, Rin realized that she had to be smart about this. She couldn't just rely on her emotions; she needed a plan. She glanced around, taking in her surroundings, looking for any opportunity to escape.
"It's not your choice to make," Kai replied coldly, his voice like a stone wall, unyielding and unmoving.
Just as Rin was about to retort, a voice came from a distance, like a ghostly whisper. "Over there, come quickly!" A thick male voice was heard, echoing off the walls. It was the receptionist, and Rin remembered his shameless attitude. She gave him the benefit of the doubt, suspecting that he might be her only chance to escape.
Rin made a split-second decision, running away from Kai and seizing a trashed fork. She held it at Kai, the metal gleaming in the dim light. "Don't come any closer," she muttered, as she pressed the bladed part against her neck, the metal cold and sharp against her skin.
Kai's expression turned murderous, his eyes flashing with anger. "Don't make this difficult for me," he warned, his voice low and menacing.
Rin's heart was racing, and she felt a wave of desperation wash over her. She knew she couldn't outrun Kai, but she couldn't give up either. She thought about Elara, and how she needed to find her. She thought about her own survival, and how she would do anything to stay alive.
"So what! Who are you to dictate my life for me? Since I don't have a leverage to bargain with you. This is my final resort," she said, her voice shaking with fear and determination.
As she pressed the fork against her neck, Rin felt a strange sense of calm wash over her. She knew she was taking a risk, but it was one she was willing to take.
"I just want to know what is so special about me," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Kai's eyes turned scarlet, and he exuded murderous intent, like a predator stalking its prey. Rin felt a cold shiver down her spine as a chilling sense of bloodlust enveloped her.
The sky began to darken as dawn drew near
"I already warned you," Kai sneered, and proceeded to walk forward, his eyes fixed on her like a target.
Rin raised the fork, ready to end it all, then suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the air, like a crack of thunder. Rin's face paled in shock, as she felt a searing pain in her back, like a hot poker, and her legs gave up, her body collapsed to the ground.
As she fell, Rin saw the receptionist appear out of the corner of her eye, a gun still smoking in his hand. He was the one who had shot her. A pool of blood began to form beneath her, warm and sticky, spreading rapidly across the pavement.
Rin lay motionless, her vision blurring, and everything went dark, like a curtain falling.
'No.. not again' Kai's demeanor instantly changed to one of panic as he stared at Rin's blood, the metallic scent filling his nostrils and sending his senses into overdrive. His iris became dark scarlet, resembling blood veins that sprouted slightly in his neck, and beneath his lips, sharp canines revealed themselves, ready to unleash a deadly bite. His body instantly exploded with killing intent, sending chills down the receptionist's spine as a low, menacing growl rumbled in the back of his throat.
"We got her!" The receptionist shouted, his voice trembling with excitement, as he pointed the gun at Kai accompanied by two others and fired multiple times. The sound of gunfire echoed through the alley, but Kai who was unharmed by the bullets merely glanced at them before appearing in front of the two men in a flash, his movements so quick they were almost imperceptible he swung his hand easily splitting their throats
Both men fell as blood gushed from their wounds forming a puddle beneath them.
The receptionist swung his fist instinctively at Kai, but it was too late. His arm began to change, growing bigger and covered in black fur, his fingernails elongating into sharp, curved claws. The air was filled with the sound of bones cracking and muscles straining as the receptionist's body transformed into a wolf-like creature, its eyes glowing with a feral intensity.
Suddenly, his arm stopped inches away from Kai's face, his hand trembling with effort as Kai gripped it tightly, his fingers like a vice. Panicked, the wolf-creature's face began to change, its snout enlarging and its features twisting into a snarl. It opened its mouth wide, attempting to bite off Kai's head, but Kai was faster, throwing his hand up in a powerful fist that connected with the creature's jaw, sending it flying upwards.
Leaping into the air, Kai grabbed hold of the monster's head and smashed it on the ground with a sickening crunch, the sound of bones shattering and flesh tearing filled the air. But the creature still lived, its claws swung desperately in an attempt to dislodge Kai, who was relentless,he gripped the monster's large arm and ripped it off like paper as the sound of tearing flesh and the scent of blood filled the air.
Blood splattered against the floor and Kai,. The wolf creature howled in pain before turning back into the severely injured receptionist, its eyes filled with fear and desperation. Kai approached him, his expression cold and merciless, as the receptionist backed away in fear, his legs scraping against the tiled floors in a desperate attempt to flee.
"Are you going to wait for my death," the receptionist yelled, his voice trembling with fear. Kai's expression changed slightly, his eyes narrowing as he turned around, his hand swinging in a swift, deadly arc, ending the receptionist's life in a quick decapitation.
Kai's gaze fell on a manly figure crouched down, holding Rin's body in his arms. His eyes blazed with fury, his body coilied and he charged forward with inhuman speed . The figure, sensing danger, instinctively hopped away, but Kai was too fast, catching up to him in a flash. While midair, the figure's left wrist fell off accompained by large spurt of blood and low whimpers of pain, and dark smoke filled the air, slightly stunning the deranged Kai. When he regained focus, the figure was gone, vanished into the night, leaving behind only his ragged breathing. Kai who was no longer in his right senses approached Rin with an unquenchable hunger in his eyes. He bared his fangs, with a loud roar he pounced upon Rin's body.
