Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Mobius?

Ding-a-ling!

The long-awaited guest had finally arrived.

A wave of Primogems was coming—Chen Luo needed to be ready.

To show his respect for this special guest, Chen Luo even went to the door in advance.

"Klein—"

The moment the door opened, a green figure stumbled straight into him.

Chen Luo immediately caught her.

This was a big spender—she couldn't fall.

Wait… Klein?

Only after steadying her did Chen Luo recall that familiar name. He looked down.

Long green hair, an alluring figure, flushed cheeks, and the strong scent of alcohol.

Mobius?

And the adult version at that?

"Klein… you seem a little taller?" The drunken woman tilted her head, her face slightly red as she patted Chen Luo's head in confusion.

Meanwhile, Klein, who had been waiting for Mobius outside the hotel, stood alone on the street in front of the hotel.

"Strange… The Doctor said she was already at the bar's entrance. Where is she? Did she wander off drunk again?" Klein muttered, staring at the last message on her communicator.

"Maybe I should call her." Worried about Mobius' post-drinking antics, Klein opened her contacts.

After all, the Doctor had terrible alcohol tolerance—and her behavior after drinking was downright disastrous.

Compared to the cold, calculating persona she showed outsiders, a drunk Mobius was… unbearable.

"Is this really Mobius? Singing, dancing, and now trying to play drinking games with me?" Chen Luo propped his chin on his hand, exasperated.

"Come on, Klein~ Play a round with me! Loser drinks!" The now fully upright Mobius—standing about as tall as Chen Luo—slung an arm over his shoulder.

[Ding! New commission received!]

[Drinking Game]: …

"You lost~ Drink up!" Mobius shoved her half-finished glass toward Chen Luo's mouth.

Since Chen Luo had no idea how to play, losing was inevitable. He didn't even understand the rules—let alone how he'd lost.

"Doctor, didn't you say the winner drinks? Did you forget?" Chen Luo sighed.

"Huh? Did I…?" Mobius tilted her head, genuinely unsure.

But Klein wouldn't lie to her.

"Since you won Doctor, you should drink, right?"

"Makes sense." Mobius nodded, then downed the entire glass in one go.

"Another round!" She raised her now-empty cup.

[Ding! New commission received!]

"Sure, sure." Chen Luo nodded eagerly.

A drunk Mobius was incredibly easy to fool—she'd drink anything, no mixing required.

And perhaps because of her intoxication, her desire for alcohol was relentless, leading to nonstop commission triggers.

"Come on, let's play again!"

[Ding! New commission received!]

"Of course, Doctor. This time, the winner drinks again."

"Deal!" Mobius nodded with some effort.

"Hey, A'Luo, Is this really okay to let her drink like this?" Venti watched the two with concern.

"Maybe I should help you drink instead?" Venti revealed his true motive.

"Thanks to this lady, take your apple cider. Enjoy." Chen Luo rolled his eyes and slid a full barrel toward Venti.

"But seriously, why does she think I'm Klein? My hair's black, and yours is green," Chen Luo muttered.

"Excuse me, only the ends of my hair are green—and it's more teal than pure green!" Venti lifted a strand as proof.

"Your entire outfit is green."

"Well… true. But you can't reason with a drunk woman."

"…"

Chen Luo didn't argue further. Deep down, he had a theory—but he wasn't certain.

It likely tied to his "Saint Chen" and "Friend of Non-Humans" titles.

The former worked on most lifeforms.

The latter… MANTISes definitely counted, but Mobius hadn't undergone Meta-Morph surgery yet—otherwise, her alcohol tolerance wouldn't be this pathetic.

Still, even pre-MANTIS Mobius might be affected by his title.

After all, she'd been speaking at birth. What normal human could do that?

"Doctor, can you sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?" Chen Luo suddenly asked.

From what the Herrscher of Sentience had mentioned offhand, Twinkle Twinkle existed in the Previous Era too—just with slightly different lyrics.

A weird coincidence.

"Of course! Want to sing together? No lip-syncing!" Mobius pinched Chen Luo's nose.

[Ding! New commission received!]

Ah, Dr. Mobius… you're truly my lucky star.

Now Chen Luo understood what made a special guest.

They were exceptionally prone to issuing commissions—and undeniably unique.

After all, Mobius was from the Previous Era.

Theresa and the Herrscher of Sentience existed in the current era, while Mobius belonged to 50,000 years ago.

What even was this? A ten thousand year-spanning meetup?

If he interfered with this Mobius, would it affect Theresa's present?

Chen Luo shook his head and threw the idea out.

Altering the past sounded very dangerous.

It might not impact the Herrscher of Sentience, since she already left the world, but Theresa could face consequences.

Better focus on grinding Primogems for now.

"Doctor, another round?" Chen Luo tempted Mobius again.

"Another round!" Mobius cheered, throwing her head back.

Her alcohol tolerance was abysmal—but for Chen Luo, that was perfect.

Not that he was cruel enough to force drinks on her.

Every cocktail he served had sobering properties—just with a 30-minute delay.

Otherwise, a sober Mobius would never keep drinking.

After farming 200+ Primogems, once the sobering effects kicked in, Chen Luo guided her to the door.

Before sending her off, he slipped a note into her hand—how to re-enter the bar.

Such a lucrative… ahem, valued customer deserved a return invitation.

"Boss, I'm heading out too." Mona, who'd been reading quietly, waved goodbye and left.

"Today is a very lucky day. Though getting down the mountain will be annoying… Fortunately there are wind gliders." Mona sighed, standing at the cliff's edge.

Unbeknownst to her, a pair of eyes observed everything.

When guests left, "Midnight bar" would fully materialize—a lone floating door would've been weirder.

"Midnight bar…?"

The watcher was clearly intrigued by this mysterious mountain bar.
