Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Senti: I'll Go Steal the Judgment of Shamash for You!

"Hmm?" Just as Chen Luo was riding his bike home, he suddenly frowned—something felt off.

With over 1,000 deaths in the Herrscher of Sentience's mental training space under his belt, Chen Luo's instincts screamed that someone was watching him.

But when he turned to look, there was nothing.

"Tch. Definitely not my imagination. Still, home first." He clicked his tongue.

Chen Luo trusted his gut. As the Herrscher of Sentience often said, a martial artist's intuition always had merit—it couldn't be ignored.

Those who dismissed it as "just a feeling" were either amateurs or idiots.

Not that Chen Luo was worried. Once he got home, he'd be safe.

Hell, he didn't even need to go home. He could just duck into the Midnight bar and vanish.

He'd later realized the bar's entrance could move freely—after all, it hopped between worlds. It couldn't stay fixed in one spot.

As Chen Luo pedaled faster, a figure emerged from the shadows of an alleyway, their streaked yellow hair fluttering in the wind.

"So you're the bastard tailing me? That mophead from the other day? I let you off after you ambushed me at home, and now you're back? Did a donkey kick your brain loose?" Chen Luo smacked the intruder's head rhythmically with his Red Wolf Queen's Frying Pan.

The situation was absurd.

On high alert, Chen Luo had rushed home while notifying the Herrscher of Sentience, expecting some formidable foe.

Yet when the Herrscher dragged the stalker in, it turned out to be an acquaintance.

"Why's he following me? I thought you 'handled' this?" Chen Luo asked at the Herrscher of Sentience.

"I erased his urge to call the cops and made sure he wouldn't harass normal students. But the problem is you are not normal. This is your request, don't blame me now." The Herrscher of Sentience took a step back, refusing responsibility.

"Why are your eyes are black now? With red spots? Are you wearing contacts?" Chen Luo then squatted, rapping the guy's skull with the pan.

"Quit playing, A'Luo. Something's wrong with his body. If we only talk physically, he's slightly stronger than you now," the Herrscher of Sentience warned.

"Noticed that." Chen Luo nodded before smacking the guy's snapping jaws shut with the pan.

This delinquent was very abnormal now.

The Herrscher of Sentience was right—despite all Chen Luo's commission-boosted enhancements, the guy outclassed him in raw strength.

"From what I can tell, he's possessed by evil spirits. If you use your sword mantra, you'd see the miasma clinging to him."

"But I don't have Sword Mantra."

"Then buy it. The completed version blocks SWARA's harassment anyway."

"...That's very expensive."

"Ugh. Pathetic." The Herrscher of Sentience rolled her eyes.

"So what now?"

"You ask me, what should I do? You're the one from this world?" The Herrscher of Sentience rolled her eyes at Chen Luo.

"We can't just lock him in the basement forever. Modern investigation technology would notice a missing person. If he disappears for too long, he will definitely be found missing." Chen Luo massaged his temples.

Ding-dong!

"Someone's here?" Chen Luo perked up at the doorbell.

"Come on, let's go and see." He motioned to the Herrscher of Sentience.

After walking out of the basement and coming to the living room and opening the door, Chen Luo saw the person coming.

"Yun Xia's bodyguard?" Chen Luo blinked at the sunglasses-wearing man in a suit.

Chen Luo and Yun Xia were very close with each other, so he also knew her bodyguard.

"Young Master Chen Luo," the bodyguard intoned flatly. "My lady heard rumors of a serial robber in the area. For your safety, she procured an amulet. I hope you can accept it." The bodyguard said to Chen Luo with a cold face.

This is not to say that the bodyguard's attitude towards Chen Luo is bad, but Chen Luo has never seen him without a cold face since they met.

The "Young Master" thing was a lost cause—Chen Luo had given up correcting him years ago.

"An amulet? Thank her for me." Chen Luo accepted it thoughtfully.

Pre-awakening, he'd have dismissed amulets as superstition. But from an S-rank talent holder like Yun Xia? In short, it is absolutely the right move to accept it.

"Here." The bodyguard produced the "amulet"—then kept pulling. And pulling.

"Wait. You said one? This is a string of them!" Chen Luo looked at the amulets in the bodyguard's hand with some astonishment.

Other people's amulets are a string of beads or strange triangular paper, but Yun Xia's amulet is a necklace, which seems to be made of jade.

And the bodyguard holds at least 20 of the expensive-looking necklaces.

"The lady said that the more amulets, the better. If possible, she hopes that Young Master Chen Luo can wear all of them." The bodyguard said expressionlessly.

"Who the hell wears twenty talismans? Isn't it heavy?" Chen Luo didn't understand. Chen Luo really didn't understand.

"The lady also said that if Master Chen Luo doesn't want to wear all of them, he should at least wear three at a time."

Yun Xia seemed to have expected it.

"...Fine." After Chen Luo pondered for a moment, he took the 20 amulets.

"If there's nothing else, I'll leave first." The bodyguard nodded at Chen Luo and turned around and left.

Chen Luo took the amulets and saw the bodyguard leave and then closed the door. Chen Luo looked at the 24 amulets in his hand.

[Protective Jade] (Item): Repels evil spirits. The more you have, the better the effect. Effects stack (max: 12).

Rank: 1-Star (12 combined = 2-Star)

Price: 10 Primogems (each)

"Holy shit. Yun Xia's insanely generous. These are 10 Primogems apiece—240 total!" Chen Luo whistled.

In his talent panel, one star can be bought with money, and two stars can be bought with money, but not always

For example, Chen Luo's two-star item, the Barrett sniper rifle, can indeed be bought in reality, but the endless coconut milk cannot necessarily be bought.

Although the effect of the endless coconut milk is only to produce 10 gourds of coconut milk every day..

Chen Luo now only has 585 Primogem, which means that a string of this thing in his hand is worth half of Chen Luo's net worth.

"Pfft. 240 Primogems? Back in my world, I'd just steal the Judgment of Shamash for you," the Herrscher of Sentience said disdainfully.

"What kind of strange competitive spirit is this?" Chen Luo looked at the Herrscher of Sentience helplessly.
