Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The Strongest Alliance in the World

"Uh, I just remembered something—I need to go out." Watching the Herrscher of Sentience mutter to herself about training plans, Chen Luo suddenly felt the urge to flee.

"Hah? No way! I just finalized your training regimen. You can't run now! Martial arts are like sailing against the current: no progress means regression." She grabbed his wrist.

No matter how strong Chen Luo might become in the future, right now, he was utterly at her mercy.

"But I haven't even started training yet, so there's nothing to regress from," Chen Luo argued.

"That... actually makes sense? Wait, no! What kind of attitude is that? 'Tomorrow after tomorrow, how many tomorrows are there? I wait for tomorrow all my like and everything will be wasted! This habit won't fly." She nearly fell for his logic but quickly vetoed him again.

"On Saturday mornings, if I don't have other commitments, I volunteer at the hospital. Good thing you only set the hypnosis for two hours instead of three, or I'd be late. Oh, and I might not be back for lunch. There's last night's leftovers—still warm. If they cool, just microwave them." Chen Luo rattled off instructions like a worried father.

"I see..." Sensing no deceit, the she released him.

She'd never volunteer at a hospital herself, but she wouldn't stop others.

"Still, you're totally the type to get exploited as a hospital aide." She rubbed her chin. "Want me to come with you?"

"Eh? You want to go with me? How?" Chen Luo was stunned.

"Hello? Herrscher of Sentience here. Hiding inside someone's consciousness is child's play. Although I gained a physical form when crossing worlds, I can still revert to a feather. The Herrscher of Sentience is a being who originally drifts through the sea of consciousness, remember?" The Herrscher of Sentience said proudly.

"I don't mind you tagging along, but I doubt you'll enjoy watching me read to someone for two hours straight."

"Ugh. Reading? Hard pass. Go by yourself." She waved him off disdainfully.

"..." And people say I have bad habits.

"I'll be back by 14:00. Stay put." He checked the clock—nearly 10:00.

"Wait, it's 10 now. Two hours would be noon." The Herrscher of Sentience said, looking at the clock in the living room.

"Ever heard of travel time? Or, you know, returning? Or when you arrive, don't you chat with others"

"Right, right... Hurry back, then. I'll use the time to refine your training plan." The Herrscher of Sentience said with disappointment

Her current expression made Chen Luo feel like a child watching his parents go to work and feeling very reluctant to let them leave.

"I'll try to wrap up early." Without thinking, he patted her head before heading out.

Maybe it was the [Father-Daughter] dynamic, but he'd grown oddly invested in her physical and mental well-being.

"Oh, and remember your cover. Honkai Impact 3rd fans are everywhere—don't get recognized. If anyone shows up, don't open the door, no matter what they say." A final warning as he stepped out.

"Yeah, yeah." Already scrolling through Honkai comics on her phone, she barely acknowledged him.

...

"Did I forget to explain my talent to her?" Chen Luo muttered on the road.

A guard directed him to his bike—deflated tires now restored.

"Yun Xia is really nice. Not only did she get my backpack back, she also got my bicycle back, and more importantly, she fixed it."

With wheels under him, he skipped the crowded buses and wove through traffic.

While riding his bicycle to the hospital, Chen Luo was thinking about how to explain his talent to the Herrscher of Sentience. After all, he had promised her yesterday.

Chen Luo did this not because he immediately trusts in the Herrscher of Sentience after they became family members, but because the Herrscher of Sentience would obviously spend a long time with him in the future. These things would eventually be exposed. In order to increase her trust, there was nothing wrong in telling her about this in advance.

Besides, the secret of the Herrscher of Sentience is much bigger than his own. He is from this world, but his talent is a little bit strange, but the Herrscher of Sentience is from another world.

If there are two strangers in the world who form an alliance, then the Herrscher of Sentience and Chen Luo can be said to be the strongest alliance.

Both of them hold each other's biggest secret. But how to explain this topic needs to be carefully thought out.

Not long after, Chen Luo rode his bike to the vicinity of the hospital. The hospital is not too far from Chen Luo's home, not to mention that Chen Luo used the Anemo vision to speed himself up along the way. Anemo visions are indeed very versatile.

The hospital was familiar territory. A nod to the gatekeeper, and he parked his bike right under the security booth. There is nowhere safer to park than under the eyes of the security guard. Of course, Chen Luo did not forget to throw two apples to the guard as thanks.

He'd bought fruit earlier: apples, bananas, and oranges. The former is because of habit, and the latter two because fruits that can be peeled are undoubtedly more popular.

After greeting the front desk nurse, he breezed upstairs. Most hospitals had labyrinthine layouts. Sometimes you can't even find where the elevator is. Even if you have been here several times, you will sometimes feel lost, but Chen Luo is not like most.

Three minutes later, Chen Luo stood in front of the luxurious penthouse suite on the top floor of the entire hospital and gently knocked on the door.
