"The next step is to quietly wait for the mutant's first battle, and then patiently anticipate the second lucky draw," Lancelot said with a faint smile, sitting in Mr. Hanferson's office inside the CIA headquarters.

The previous skirmish had only been a warm-up for the mutants' first real fight. The true battle would be the upcoming island takeover. With more than ten days until the first fight, Lancelot was in no hurry.

"Hanferson," Lancelot said, gently pressing the call button on his desk. A minute later, Senator Hanferson appeared in his office.

"My king," Hanferson bowed respectfully, awaiting further instructions.

"How's Raven doing?" Lancelot asked, glancing at him.

"Miss Raven is returning to the CIA shortly, under the protection of Paul's team," Hanferson replied swiftly.

"Very well. You may leave for now…" Lancelot nodded just as Hanferson was about to exit, when suddenly Bradley burst into the office.

"Sir, it's urgent," Bradley said grimly, bowing before pressing his right hand to his temple.

Whoosh.

The projector in the room activated instantly, displaying a scene in front of Lancelot. A wide street appeared, where Paul Yulton's team was escorting Raven to the CIA headquarters—when suddenly the vehicle exploded.

Raven reacted immediately, leaping out of the car, while the Evolution House's dozen soldiers inside were injured to varying degrees. But before anyone could respond, they were surrounded by hundreds of elite soldiers.

"Bradley, what's happening?" Lancelot's expression darkened as he watched the footage, his voice cold.

"I don't know. They appear to belong to a special division. As for why they intercepted Miss Raven's vehicle, that's still unclear," Bradley admitted, shaking his head slightly.

Even Lancelot himself was somewhat puzzled by the origin of these elite soldiers. He watched the scene, his ruby-red eyes glinting like a bird taking flight.

Virginia, Petersburg, Interstate Highway.

Raven stood solemnly before the mysterious troops. At this moment, Raven still maintained the appearance of General Maksim Ivanov.

"Who are you?" Despite being surrounded by hundreds of soldiers, he showed no panic. Unlike facing Hei Huangxiao before, he had no prior experience confronting these ordinary troops.

"General Maksim Ivanov, we are the Science Strategic Corps. You are required to cooperate with our investigation," a man in a black suit and sunglasses stepped forward, handing Raven a special document.

"Science Strategic Corps? Isn't this the predecessor of S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Paul Alton's eyes narrowed beside Raven.

Using the power of Geass, Lancelot temporarily took control of Paul Yulton's mind. He frowned at the man speaking to him.

"Tell me everything you know," Lancelot commanded, unleashing his Geass. In Paul's eyes, a crimson bird visible only to Lancelot flew toward the man in sunglasses.

Through him, Lancelot learned all about the Science Strategic Corps.

The Corps had been established during World War II as a research unit dedicated to combating Hydra. After the war, the organization was retained and gradually expanded its influence. Under Peggy Carter's leadership, it grew over a decade into a global organization focused on protecting humanity and maintaining peace.

Though still constrained by nations and unable to interfere in internal affairs—especially during the height of the Cold War—its development was limited. However, after Professor X self-destructed as a mutant and the CIA was informed, the situation changed.

Realizing the existence of mutants, the Corps began thorough research and investigation. After months, they discovered clues pointing to a close connection between Soviet General Maksim Ivanov and mutants—raising the possibility that the general had been replaced by a mutant.

Upon learning the general's itinerary, the Corps orchestrated this assault.

"I understand," Lancelot said coldly, looking at the agents and elite soldiers of the Science Strategic Corps.

"Kill them." His gaze hardened, and he issued the command to his soldiers behind him.

"Yes, my king." Over twenty Evolution House soldiers' eyes blazed with fanatic light as they drew the newly developed energy guns and fired.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Red energy beams shot out from the guns, exploding on impact.

"Mary Fock, the intel was wrong, wrong!"

"What weapon is this?"

"Move aside, move aside!"

The Corps' soldiers stared in horror, firing their weapons in return—but the bullets were stopped by their specialized combat suits.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The Evolution House soldiers, eyes glowing red and minds sharp, fired relentlessly. Each pull of the trigger sent multiple enemy soldiers flying.

Five minutes later, the continuous explosions ceased. Over twenty soldiers had annihilated hundreds of elite enemy troops.

"Long live my king!" After the battle, the soldiers raised their energy guns, shouting frantically.

"How many did we lose this time?" Lancelot turned toward the cheering soldiers and then looked at Raven.

"Twenty-three soldiers, plus one mutant companion," Raven said sadly. This time, another young mutant traveling with them in the car hadn't survived the sudden explosion.

"Transport the bodies of these warriors to the Evolution House and give them the highest honors in their burial," Lancelot ordered solemnly. Then he closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, a fiery blaze burned in his gaze.

"Science Strategic Corps… hmm, very well. I hadn't paid attention to you. You're provoking me." For the first time, Lancelot showed anger. The Corps' ambush had cost him twenty-three human soldiers and a mutant companion.

"Since the Corps wants war, I will give them war."

"Hanferson, check the recent bases of the Science Strategic Corps."

"I will make them feel the fury of my thunder," Lancelot said, his eyes icy as frost. He had been focused on Professor X and Hei Huangxiao, neglecting the current S.H.I.E.L.D. era.

"Yes, sir," Hanferson replied immediately, issuing the orders.

Within hours, CIA agents located the Corps' base—the Strategic Science Academy.

"New York? I know," Lancelot said with a knowing smile, reading the intelligence files.

Since acquiring his Geass, Lancelot had often used it to force others into submission. He had never yet revealed its true terrifying potential.

"Perfect. I want to see the full extent of my Geass abilities." Lancelot stood, the crimson bird circling him like a phoenix, wings flapping.

"Phantom John," he commanded coldly.

Ping!

A shadow flickered, and Phantom John knelt on one knee before him.

"My king, please give your orders," Phantom John said, excited and attentive.

"Take me to New York." Lancelot's icy voice sent a chill down Phantom John's spine. It was the first time he had seen his king so furious.

"Yes, sir." Phantom John rose, gripping Lancelot's shoulder, and vanished from the CIA headquarters.
