Chapter 65: Get The Egg
A green dragon was being pulled with chains by several individuals, while others went to the arena and placed some eggs in a nest.
While this was happening, the presenter was busy trying to explain to the audience the rules of the task.
"A Common Welsh Green," Ginny commented. "Those are very tame, compared to most dragons. They rarely attack humans and prefer to escape instead."
"You seem very knowledgeable about dragons. "I'm sure most students wouldn't know that." Morgan's praise made Ginny blush.
"My brother Charlie is one of the dragon keepers…"
"I see. The advantages of a large family." Morgan shifted her eyes to the dragon in question. "However, that one is a young mother. That is going to make her much more dangerous than usual."
"Ah… you are right," Ginny realized. "You think the champions are going to be okay? Isn't this too dangerous for them?"
"Of course!" Morgan exclaimed. "Where would be the fun if there was no danger?"
Her amber eyes moved to the champion in question, who was now standing on the other side of the arena. The girl tried to hide her fear, but Morgan could feel it all the way to the stands.
Morgan was also able to perceive something else. "That blonde girl… she is a veela. Or at least partially one."
Ginny looked at her. "That's… a very popular rumor in school."
Morgan shifted her attention to the judges' table. The three judges were the headmasters of the three schools taking part in the tournament.
But very close by were some of the school teachers.
Morgan found Professor Moody, the one who had previously come to talk to Harry.
She found his behaviour very suspicious, so she was keeping an eye on him.
The man was standing there, looking around and taking sips from his flask. Unlike the rest of the audience, he didn't seem that interested in the task.
"It's about to start!" Ginny shook her shoulder.
"Well then, let's see how she fares." Morgan looked back at the arena, but she was still keeping track of the strange professor's movements.

Fleur Delacour passed her task by placing a powerful sleeping charm on the beast, but she lost many points after it sneezed and set her skirt on fire.
Then came Viktor Krum, the fan favorite, who used a Conjunctivitis Curse to blind the dragon and get the egg.
This was the method recommended by Moody, and it worked well enough, except that the dragon ended up smashing some of the real eggs that had been mixed with the golden one.
And this ended up costing Krum a few points.
Lastly was the Hogwarts champion, Cedric Diggory, who had to face a Swedish Short-Snout, a very temperamental dragon.
The Quidditch star used transfiguration to turn a rock into a dog and distract the dragon.
This only worked for a bit, but just as the champion had picked up the golden egg, the beast turned its attention to him, which resulted in Diggory suffering some severe burns and having to be rushed to the infirmary.
So far, the ranking had Viktor Krum in the lead, but there was yet one more champion left to complete his task.
"Here he comes," Ginny said when she spotted Harry exiting the tent.
"Is he your favorite champion?" Morgan was having too much fun teasing the girl.
"What? No! I mean… I just met him today," Ginny got nervous at the question.
"A Hungarian Horntail?" George could be heard gasping.
"Are they crazy? That dragon is too aggressive," Fred added.
"Oh no!" Ginny covered her mouth when she saw the dragon that Harry had to face. "That one is by far the worst one."
"Don't waste your concern on him, girl. He has handled much worse things in the past." Morgan noticed that Professor Moody now looked much more interested in what was happening, keeping his magical eye aimed at the arena.
"You… you know him?" Ginny asked Morgan.
"I can safely say that I know him better than anyone else in the world," Morgan commented.
"W-wait… are you? Are you dating him?" Ginny found it incredibly hard to believe, given that Harry had recently appeared in the public eye and wasn't even attending school. Where would someone find the chance for something like that?
"Dating?" Morgan chuckled. "No, my dear. My relationship with him is much more complicated than that. But also much deeper."
"I… I don't understand," Ginny looked very confused right now.
Morgan placed a hand on Ginny's leg. "Don't you worry about labels, and just enjoy the show." She pointed at the arena. "It's about to start. I don't know what he is planning on doing, but I'm sure it will be memorable, at least."

"Ready, Mister Potter?" Ludo Bagman asked him.
Harry glanced ahead at the young dragon who was desperately trying to protect her eggs and felt slightly bad for it.
"I am ready. I just need to get the egg, right?"
"Correct. There is no time limit, and you can use any method that you want. Just get the golden egg and bring it out with you. However, you will be judged based on your performance."
"Fine…" Harry didn't sound too excited about this. He had little interest in winning the competition and only came here to fulfil his part of the contract.
He didn't fail to notice that strange professor from before. He clearly had his eye on him for some reason.
"Let's get this over with." Normally, he would have summoned his staff to deal with a dragon, but that was apparently not allowed. The rules said that he could only use the wand that had been inspected and approved that same morning.
So the green wand appeared in his hand as he moved a bit closer to the beast.
