Chapter 63: The Strange Professor
Harry turned his head and, as he expected, Morgan was standing a few feet away, with her back resting against the wall and a playful smile on her face.
"What are you doing h—..." His eyes shifted quickly to her clothes. "Why are you wearing that?"
Morgan offered a teasing look as she leaned closer to him. "Oh… this?" She pointed at the school uniform she was now wearing. "I thought it would be appropriate for the occasion. This is a school, so everyone is wearing them."
"And you went with the Slytherin House?" Harry knew she was just trying to mess with him.
"Why not? I like snakes." Morgan winked at him. "Do you not like it?"
"I don't… dislike it." Harry frowned. "Is that bad? Those are school uniforms for children. Are you trying to make me feel like a deviant?"
Morgan started to laugh.
"Sigh… okay, you had your fun." Harry didn't look too pleased. "I assume you came here to watch me during the task?"
"Yes, I thought it would be entertaining to watch you beat up some kids," she responded nonchalantly. "Have they told you what you have to do?"
"Not yet, but apparently it involves a dragon," Harry told her.
"Whoa! Apparently, I have underestimated this school. They are having students fight dragons now?"
Harry shrugged. He was not worried about that. "By the way… are you going to be okay? It's still daytime, and the task will be in the afternoon."
Morgan was not a vampire in the conventional sense, so her weakness to sunlight was not severe enough to kill her. But he knew it was still very unpleasant for her to be exposed to the sun.
"No need to concern yourself with those small details. I am still a very resourceful witch, and I have found ways to protect myself from sunlight," Morgan smiled. "Also, since 'that day', I have been feeling much stronger. Even the Sun won't do much to me."
Harry nodded in agreement. He had also noticed that she looked much better now.
With 'that day', she was referring to when she started drinking human blood again.
Her old formula was based on animal blood, and it was enough for her to survive, but it also forced her into a weakened state.
She still refused to drink from others, but she was willing to take some of his blood once a week. That was enough to allow her to recover most of her old strength.
What Harry didn't know at the time he made the offer was that drinking blood had a secondary effect on Morgan.
It turned out that because she hadn't drunk it in so long, it now produced a powerful aphrodisiac effect on her.
So every week, after drinking his blood, he had to placate her other 'needs' in the bedroom.
Which was especially difficult after losing one third of his blood, but Harry never complained, not even once.
"Good thing I have a good supply of Invigoration Draughts," Harry suddenly said, while his mind was somewhere else.
"You are making a weird face…" Morgan glared at him with suspicion. "What are you thinking about?"
"N-Nothing." Harry looked away.
Morgan's demeanor suddenly changed. "We are being watched."
Harry thought at first that she was referring to the paintings, but then he noticed part of the robes of someone hiding around the corner. "So we are."
He was about to approach this 'watcher' when Morgan opted for a more direct way. "Hey! Show yourself before I decide to break your legs!"
Harry gave Morgan a glare of disapproval.
"That would be difficult." The person hiding around the corner finally spoke, right before showing himself. "I only have one leg. You see?"
"A professor?" Harry recognized the man. It was hard not to take notice of someone with such a unique appearance, and he had seen him sitting at the professors' table.
"Alastor Moody, it is nice to finally see you at Hogwarts, Mister Potter." The strange man had an artificial eye that continuously moved around, looking between Harry and Morgan. "I teach Defense Against the Dark Arts."
"What is a professor doing spying on people?" Morgan asked.
"I just wanted to speak with you in person, Mister Potter. I was very disappointed to learn that you chose not to attend school. I believe there is much I could have taught you," Moody said.
While he spoke, Harry had been carefully observing the man. His instincts were warning him that there was something wrong with him, and he had always listened to his instincts in the past, as they were rarely wrong.
However, with just a glance, he could not determine what it was about this person that made him feel that way.
Harry, of course, didn't let any of his doubts show on his face. "And what would you like to talk about, Professor Moody?"
"It's about the task…" Moody used a low tone and got a bit closer to him. "I was wondering if you knew anything about the contents of the task."
"I do not," Harry responded.
He knew he wasn't supposed to know anything yet and wasn't going to reveal what Ginny had said to him, so as not to get the girl into trouble.
"Well…" Moody's eye moved to Morgan. "Perhaps we should discuss this in private."
"Why? Are you going to tell him something that he shouldn't know?" Morgan had already picked up on what Moody was trying to do.
The professor could not hide his frustration. "And you are? I don't remember seeing you before in class."
Morgan simply shrugged. "I have a very common face. You would not have remembered me, Professor."
Her face was anything but common, and he would have definitely remembered her.
Moody knew she was lying but had no way to prove it.
"Whatever you wanted to tell me, you can say it in front of her," Harry reassured the professor.
"Tsk… fine." Moody looked around to make sure that no one else was nearby. "It's about the first task. You are going to be facing… a dragon."
