Chapter 48: Celestial Blade
"Careful!" Dumbledore shouted.
Harry had already seen the flames emerging from between the mist. It was hard to miss.
What wasn't so hard to miss was the bullet traveling inside the fire.
Harry had been using a special charm on his eyes that allowed him to see through all visual obstructions, so he knew the exact moment when the raider was ready to shoot again.
Those enchanted bullets were a lot scarier than the dragon fire.
Harry pulled the platform back to avoid as much of the flames as possible while raising his magical shield.
"Obice!"
The bullet hit his barrier, but unlike the previous time, Harry now saw his shield cracking under the pressure.
This was because blocking the flames had already exhausted some of its energy, and the enchanted bullet did the rest.
"Tsk!" He moved his head aside just in time to avoid the projectile as it broke through his defenses.
The bullet then continued its trajectory until it ended up hitting the roof of one of the castle's towers, blowing the whole thing apart.
"What was that?!" Dumbledore couldn't follow what had just happened, but he did see his castle being damaged.
"Don't come any closer!" Harry shouted at him before pushing a wave of magic into his staff.
He then aimed it at the dragon in the sky.
"Fragmenta Glacialis!"
Dozens of sharp ice bullets were shot.
Their aim was not the dragon, but the raider himself, as he was much more vulnerable.
The dragon raider quickly commanded the dragon to turn and use its massive body to block the spell.
Harry used this moment of distraction to his advantage.
He glanced at the Headmaster, who was hovering on his broom from a good distance away, and pointed towards the ground.
"You see that?"
Dumbledore looked in the direction Harry pointed and found the other massive creature.
The wings of the second dragon were damaged, but it was still moving through the land with no issues.
But the scariest part was the direction it had taken.
"It's going towards Hogwarts!" Dumbledore realized.
"Yeah, you may want to do something about that. I'm kind of busy with the other one." After saying this, Harry took off on his flying platform and rushed towards the ancient dragon and its rider.
The beast let out a loud roar before blasting more fire his way, and the rider aimed his weapon at Harry.
His eyes moved to the sky for a second. The black clouds were still present, thanks to the first sorcery he had used to attack the other dragon.
'I can use that to end this fight.'
He avoided the flames while casting a gust of powerful winds.
"Ventisca!"
The dragon fire was successfully deflected and created an opening just large enough for Harry to squeeze through and position himself above the dragon.
He could now get a clear, unobstructed view of the rider as he was about to take another shot at him.
"Celeritas…" His muscles tensed up as he now felt much stronger and faster.
Bolts of thunder could be heard above him.
This was followed by a loud explosion coming from the enchanted rifle in the rider's hands.
Harry did not try to protect himself with a shield this time and used his enhanced reflexes to barely avoid the bullet, receiving merely a scratch on his cheek.
He lifted his staff upwards, and immediately after, it was hit by a lightning bolt coming from the turbulent sky.
The crystal at the tip of his staff appeared to absorb the impact completely, leaving residual sparks flying everywhere.
A smile crept onto Harry's face as he aimed his weapon down at the dragon beneath.
'It's over,' he thought.
"JUGULUM CAELESTE (Celestial Blade)!" Harry roared with fury, and his magic responded in kind, producing a semi-transparent magical construct shaped like a blade that immediately fell upon its intended target.
Neither the dragon nor the rider had time to consider their situation before being struck by the spell.
The Celestial Blade cut the ancient dragon's head with extreme ease and continued towards the distant ground.
The rider let out an expression of shock directed at Harry as he realized what was about to happen next.
The decapitated dragon fell at full speed, dragging its rider along.
Harry's eyes moved to another part of the field until he spotted the other dragon and the Headmaster.
He was pleasantly surprised to see that the old wizard was holding his own against the dangerous beast.
Dumbledore had successfully blocked its path so it couldn't approach the school, and was blocking its fire with a massive sphere of conjured water.
Still, it didn't look like victory was on the horizon for him.
Harry made sure there was still enough energy from the lightning stored in his staff and took aim at the distracted dragon, firing one more magical blade.
This one was much weaker than the previous one, but so was this dragon.
The Celestial Blade was able to cut its head while the beast was still trying to spew fire at the Headmaster, killing it immediately.
Harry finally turned his attention to the rider.
He commanded the platform to descend quickly towards the area where the headless ancient dragon had fallen. It was mostly grass plains, so there weren't any good places to hide.
It only took him a couple of seconds to locate the rider, who was painfully crawling away from his former mount.
The man appeared to have both legs broken, among other serious injuries, but he was still alive.
Harry rushed at him and landed right in front of him.
"Where are you going?"
The rider was a middle-aged man wearing peculiar green-tinted glasses and dressed in a black, military-looking uniform. He glared at Harry, and despite all the pain he was in, he managed to speak some words.
"Y-you… wizard s-scum!"
