Chapter 18 - Before Us, Only Enemies

Spiritual bodies are entities born from the aggregation of Reishi. They are the fundamental basis for the survival of Soul Reapers and ordinary souls within the Soul Society and other realms.

Correspondingly, there is Kishi, which makes up matter in the World of the Living.

Reishi and Kishi can be converted into one another, so to a certain extent, there is no distinction of superiority between the two.

These were all basic facts mentioned in the classrooms of the Academy.

Naraku Sora carefully sensed the changes occurring in every inch of his flesh and blood. Scarlet Reiatsu seeped out unconsciously, shrouding his body like a thin mist.

"Phew—"

Boundless strength surged through his limbs and bones like a rushing river. The process of strengthening his spiritual body was taking much longer than anticipated.

Naraku Sora suddenly raised his head. His eyes were crimson, and wisps of white smoke entangled with his Reiatsu. His heavy breathing sounded like a bellows being worked.

The heatwaves surging within the Scorching Hell rushed into his internal organs. Heat and dryness permeated his insides as if threatening to burn him from within.

However, with the visible enhancement of his spiritual body, that temperature could no longer affect him in the slightest.

Muscle fibers frantically reorganized, and his Reiatsu boiled as fiercely as the hellish furnace before him.

Although he was still unsure of the underlying principles, he had undoubtedly become stronger. That was an indisputable fact.

If the previous Naraku Sora was raw iron, he had now undergone a thousand hammer blows and a hundred refinements, resulting in an ultimate metamorphosis.

Although the process appeared painful, to him, this was merely nourishment for becoming stronger.

Compared to the bitter cultivation day after day, year after year in the Academy, his current speed could be described as ascending to the heavens in a single step.

Naraku Sora spread his arms, fully experiencing the surging power coursing through his body.

It was a kind of strength completely different from Reiatsu.

The haze that had originally weighed on his heart vanished along with the acquisition of this power.

It was true that the Soul Society harbored countless darknesses and sins; perhaps the entire world was built upon original sin.

Looking around, everything was rotting.

Such a world had existed for a million years.

Was he to let it continue like this?

No. Since I have come here, I should leave something behind for this world.

Regardless of the outcome.

Naraku Sora's gaze turned stern. Reigniting his fighting spirit, he turned and threw all the remaining sinners into the prison cells.

The road ahead was rugged, and the whole world was his enemy.

In that case...

Although Aizen had not intervened when arresting these people—meaning his participation rate was as high as one hundred percent—their sin values were relatively low.

And their strength was too poor.

The total profit from all of them combined could not compare to a single Araki Shuto.

However, just as Naraku Sora had predicted, personally taking action to arrest sinners was far faster than staying inside the Central Prison waiting for people to be sentenced.

The efficiency of the Gotei 13 was actually quite low, after all, their personnel were limited.

Coupled with the fact that many matters easily involved disputes between nobles, the Gotei 13 was often like a dog trying to bite a hedgehog—unable to find a place to sink its teeth.

Generally speaking, arresting a noble required the approval of Central 46.

Actions like Naraku Sora's, acting first and reporting later, were actually violations of the Soul Society's laws.

But as long as he insisted that he didn't know Araki Shuto's identity, and firmly held onto Shutara Senjumaru's backing, Central 46 would usually not punish him directly.

...

Squad 1 Barracks.

"Head Captain, the latest intelligence from Rukongai."

The meticulous Sasakibe Chojiro respectfully placed a document on the table in the center of the room, then stood aside, waiting quietly.

"Rukongai?" The bald old man frowned. "Is it regarding the disappearance of villagers in the Sabitsura District?"

Sasakibe Chojiro nodded, his expression grave. "It involves nobles, and because of the intervention of certain individuals, the matter has become more complicated."

"Them again."

Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni's expression clearly darkened a few shades. He reached out, picked up the document on the table, and flipped it open directly.

The room instantly fell silent.

But as time passed, a heavy pressure began to spread continuously. Wisps of scorching heat rose up, as if a dormant volcano was gradually awakening!

"Head Captain!"

Sasakibe Chojiro wiped the sweat from his forehead and raised his voice to remind him.

Yamamoto raised his gaze, looked at him deeply, and his low voice resonated through the room:

"Chojiro, I need a detailed report."

"On the Araki family?" Sasakibe Chojiro lowered his head in acknowledgment. "I have already ordered people to investigate."

Yamamoto shook his head slightly, pointing to a line of text on the document. "No, on this brat."

Sasakibe Chojiro paused for a moment and looked at the document on the table, only to see it written:

"Central Prison 10th Seat Jailer Naraku Sora, confronted and defeated Araki Shuto, crushing his scheme..."

...

Seireitei, Noble Street.

A massive, ancient residence with a magnificent appearance sat quietly like a giant beast.

Deep within the residence, inside a tall building, several figures had gathered.

This was the home of the high-ranking noble Araki family. The people present were all high-level members of the clan.

"A mere Soul Reaper from the Central Prison dares to lay a hand on someone from our Araki family?!"

"We cannot just look at the surface; things cannot be that simple."

"It is definitely a conspiracy by other factions, or perhaps, it is that Warden of the Central Prison!"

People had barely taken their seats when angry voices roared through the room.

Everyone's expressions were as ugly as if they had swallowed flies. The loss this time was extremely heavy; even with the Araki family's deep pockets, it was a bit unbearable.

"This matter is top secret; only the few of us know about it."

The old man sitting at the head of the table spoke slowly:

"Relying solely on two Soul Reapers at the level of seated officers, it would be fundamentally impossible to find the Paradise Hall, let alone infiltrate that underground space without triggering the Kidō barriers."

"Plus, coming from Rukongai, they wouldn't have the guts to act against a noble."

"Therefore, there is a high probability it is related to that woman, Shutara Senjumaru."

With their guess confirmed, everyone revealed a look of astonishment.

"However, no matter what, we are currently at an absolute disadvantage. That waste Araki Shuto cannot be saved, but we absolutely cannot let the Araki family decline because of this."

The low voice echoed in the room, the old man's gaze sharp as a knife.

"Before saving the family, we must wash away this shame."

"Since Shutara Senjumaru dares to move against us, a price must be paid. Let us start with that damned jailer Soul Reaper!"
