The next morning, at the City General County Hospital, Mild was finishing his paperwork when the intercom buzzed, summoning him to the executive suite. Zen had set his plan in motion.
Mild arrived at the pristine office, shocked to see Zen behind the CEO's desk.
"Zen! What—what are you doing here?" Mild stammered, completely blindsided. "I thought you were in Europe."
Zen smiled—a controlled, polite, but slightly predatory smile. "A few things changed, Mild. Welcome. I'm the new CEO."
"The new CEO of this hospital?" Mild repeated, sinking into the chair Zen offered.
"Indeed. And I didn't summon you to reminisce about St. Jude's, though I recall your archery skills were nearly as sharp as mine," Zen said, leaning forward. "I have a professional proposition for you, Dr. Mild."
