Arm helped the terrified woman out of the sub-basement. She was frail and disoriented, her eyes squinting against the dim service lights. He led her to a quiet sitting room, ordering his staff to bring her food and medical aid, treating her with a profound respect she hadn't known in decades.
"I am truly sorry," Arm said, kneeling before her. The weight of his family's cruelty was crushing. "For my father's heartlessness. For my mother's actions. For the years you spent down there, and for the life you lost raising Lina—who was not your real daughter—only to have your own child, Shelmith, snatched away and later... killed by my mother's design."
He assured her that the immediate threat was gone. "My father and mother have been arrested. The real culprits for the corruption and the conspiracy are caught. Whatever information you held about the money laundering files or Shelmith's death is no longer a danger to you. It's of less importance to the legal case now."
