Chapter 108 - Chapter 108 :An Arrival and an Admission

Finally, the last week of June arrived. Anisa planned to travel to Fathima's home a day before the first wedding ritual began, hoping to help with the final preparations and offer support. šŸš‰

On the morning of her journey, Anisa boarded a train with her luggage. She estimated at least a six-hour trip, so she'd packed water and snacks accordingly. As the train pulled away from the station, she felt a strange surge of excitement, it had been years since she'd embarked on a journey this long. Even her Christmas visit to her parents was a shorter distance.

The train passed through landscapes of hills, rivers, and forests, and by late afternoon, she finally arrived at her destination. Fathima, her parents, and extended family were there to welcome her warmly, having been informed of her arrival.šŸ“Œ

Fathima and Anisa spent the afternoon reminiscing about their school days, laughing over shared memories and inside jokes. After a while, Fathima asked the inevitable question: "So, when are you getting married, Anisa?"

Anisa's expression shifted instantly. Gathering her words, she explained, "Here's the thing, Fathima... About five years ago, I fell deeply in love with someone. Our families disapproved, different religions. We ended up eloping in secret. We told no one. A little over a year ago... he passed away. I'm a widow now." šŸ˜”

"Oh, Anisa... I'm so sorry. I had no idea," Fathima said, her voice filled with genuine remorse. "Forgive me for asking."

As close as they were, Anisa decided not to reveal the complexities of Zayan's betrayal. Those truths were still too raw, too unresolved, even for a dear friend. 😣

As dusk fell and they moved from the veranda indoors, Fathima spoke again, her voice low and earnest. "Listen, Anisa... please don't think anything of what I said earlier. I just... I wanted to warn you. There are still some people with silly superstitions who think it's inauspicious for widows to attend weddings. Just... be aware." šŸ”Š

"I don't think badly of you at all, Fathima. Thank you for telling me," Anisa replied softly, touched by her friend's protective concern.

Arm in arm, they went inside, the warmth of their friendship a shield against old prejudices, their hearts full of anticipation for the celebrations to come. šŸ¤
