Chapter 91 - Chapter 91 :The Surgeon's Toll

It was a day in late January, one that would become intensely busy for Yugh. A young man, severely injured by industrial machinery with a deep laceration across his abdomen, was rushed into the ER. 🙃

Yugh took charge, swiftly moving the patient to the ICU to control the profuse bleeding. After stabilizing him with IV fluids, Yugh performed an exploratory laparotomy, checking for internal damage. Thankfully, the vital organs were spared, but the blood loss was critical, necessitating an immediate transfusion.

Once the matching blood type was secured, Yugh and his team worked in seamless, focused harmony to administer it, while nurses meticulously monitored the patient's plummeting blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen levels. 🔴

Hours of concentrated effort followed cleaning the wound, stitching layer upon layer, fighting to close the breach in the young man's body. The basic procedure was completed, a temporary victory in the battle for his life.

A few hours later, as consciousness slowly returned to the patient, the team administered the necessary antibiotics and pain relief. Exhausted, they had succeeded. A human life, teetering on the edge, had been pulled back. 💊

After briefing the anxious family on the post-operative care, Yugh finally ended his shift. Stepping out of the hospital, he saw the sun was already dipping below the horizon. The day's demands had been so all-consuming he had missed lunch entirely. His hands, steady for hours in the theatre, now trembled slightly with fatigue. His legs felt leaden and cold. He grabbed a quick sandwich from the canteen, swallowing it without tasting it, and walked towards the car park, his entire being yearning for the silent refuge of his home, where the only life he had to sustain for a while was his own. 🚗
