Zahra had written about making "malpua" for the first time because Yugh loved sweet food. As Yugh read the words, his chest tightened. She had taken the sweets to him with hope in her heart, only to find him busy playing video games. He remembered that day vaguely, how distracted he had been, how he had barely looked at her. Zahra had waited, expecting him to say they tasted good. Instead, he had eaten them silently, eyes glued to the screen.
