Chapter 34: A Different Kind of Lesson

Voldemort's thin fingers stroked Nagini's scales as he listened, a cruel smile playing on his lipless mouth. He was in a rare, almost playful mood. His inner circle had been reassembled, a familiar comfort.

"Sybil Trelawney… prophesied again," he mused, his high voice slicing the silence. "A 'traveler' to alter the 'chosen boy's' path. And the rise of a… 'Master Supreme.' How quaint."

He turned his burning gaze to Severus Snape. "This 'chosen boy' is, of course, Harry Potter. And the traveler… this 'Elian Thorne.' Find an opportunity to bring him to me, Severus."

His eyes then shifted to the other side of the table, landing on Lucius Malfoy, who flinched under the attention. "I shall leave the practicalities to you, Lucius. You require an opportunity to prove your continued loyalty. Do not fail."

Lucius rose swiftly, executing a deep, practiced bow. "It will be my honour, my Lord. I shall deliver him."

"See that you do," Voldemort whispered, his attention already drifting. "Fenrir," he addressed the shaggy, bestial man further down the table. "You and your pack have a different task. There is an object within the Ministry I require. Retrieve it. I must… verify this prophecy."

A restless energy filled the room. Voldemort's plans were moving from shadow into action.

"And Azkaban," he said, the name dropping like a block of ice. "My faithful languish there, tormented by Dementors. It is time they rejoined their master. Prepare yourselves."

A collective, shuddering excitement passed through the masked Death Eaters. Liberation. War. It was beginning.

The meeting dissolved. Only Snape, Lucius, and the werewolf Greyback remained as Voldemort rose, Nagini slithering at his heels.

"Do not disappoint me," was his final, chilling command before he swept from the room.

Unbeknownst to Elian, the prophecy had not only painted a target on his back for the Ministry. A far more dangerous and predatory gaze had now fixed upon him.

Elian's immediate problem, however, felt more mundane but was equally pressing. It involved Hermione Granger and a persistent, hopeful look in her eye.

She, Harry, and Ron had officially formed 'Dumbledore's Army'—the D.A.—in response to Umbridge's useless Defence classes. They were meeting in the Room of Requirement, practising real defensive magic.

Hermione had asked—no, insisted—that Elian join. He'd refused, politely but firmly. It had led to two days of frosty silence and hurt glances in the library.

But that refusal had triggered something else. A new mission pulsed in his mind:

[Danger gathers. A Master's strength lies not only in himself, but in the strength he cultivates in others.]

[Bonus Mission: Instruct at least two individuals in the mystic arts of Kamar-Taj.]

[Reward: Astral Projection – Advanced.]

[Note: Advanced Astral Projection allows the projection of another's spirit from their body.]

The reward was staggering. The ability Doctor Strange's mentor had used on him—to forcibly separate soul from body with a single strike. It was a powerful, frightening technique.

He'd resisted at first. Teaching meant exposure. It meant trust.

But the reward was too potent to ignore. And he knew two people he could potentially trust with a fraction of his secret: Luna, whose loyalty was silent and absolute, and Hermione, whose brilliance and discretion, once she was over the initial shock, could be an asset.

He'd compromised. Quickly.

Which was why he now found himself sitting at the back of a D.A. meeting in the Room of Requirement, watching Harry instruct a group of students in the Disarming Charm.

"Go on, Elian, give it a try!" Harry called over, noticing him. "It's really useful!"

Elian just smiled and shook his head. "I'm just observing today, thanks."

Harry shrugged and turned back to his eager pupils.

When the session ended and the room emptied, Elian lingered, catching Hermione and Luna by the arm just as they were about to leave with the others.

"Wait," he said, his voice low. "Could I… talk to you both? Somewhere private?"

Hermione's eyes narrowed with immediate suspicion, but also a flicker of curiosity. Luna simply tilted her head, a small, knowing smile on her lips.

Elian took a deep breath, his mind racing. This was it. He was about to step onto a path with no clear map.

"It's about a different kind of magic," he began, choosing his words with immense care. "Not the kind we learn here. And I… I think I need your help to understand it."

The Room of Requirement, ever obliging, sensed his need. The wall behind them shimmered, and a new, smaller door appeared, leading not to the corridor, but to a quiet, sunlit chamber lined with unfamiliar, non-Hogwarts texts.

He looked from Hermione's fiercely intelligent face to Luna's serene, open one.

"Would you be willing to learn something… entirely new?"
