Now, the atmosphere on the field became tense again when Arvin openly said that they were all stupid for wasting mana.
But suddenly, Arvin raised his hand. He summoned the lightning element, the same as Bryan used before. However, the method was different. He didn't shout or waste energy just to show off.
Crackt!
Lightning struck the ground with lightning speed, precise and deadly.
Crash!
Followed by a loud sound from the exploding ground, creating a deep, smoking hole. The vibrations were felt right up to the students' feet.
Bryan and everyone else were shocked by the magnitude of the lightning strike, even though Arvin looked completely relaxed, as if he had just flicked his finger.
"H-How did you do that? That was just basic lightning magic!" stammered Bryan.
"That's why I told you that you use magic stupidly and wastefully! You're just wasting the magic energy inside your bodies!"
Arvin then used the light element to draw a complex yet beautiful magic circle formula in the air. The light hovered before them, displaying a perfect geometric structure.
"This magic circle formula must be used every time you want to use magic. Bryan, try it!" he ordered.
Bryan, though annoyed but curious, immediately memorized the shape of the magic circle formula. He practiced it, focusing his mana through the structure Arvin demonstrated.
Crackt!
Lightning struck again.
Crash!
The ground exploded harder than before. The effect was twice as strong.
"Wow!" Bryan stared at his own hands in amazement. "I only used a little magic energy and the destructive power is even greater! You really are a genius, Arvin! Thank you!"
Arvin snorted, turning his face away. "Tsk! Earlier you insulted me, now you thank me! You fickle people. The rest is up to you! I'm going to watch from the sidelines!"
As he was about to turn away, Professor Elliana—their homeroom teacher—stopped him.
"Arvin," she called out with eyes shining in admiration. "Could you write down many magic circles that can be used to improve the efficiency of all students' abilities in this academy?"
Arvin looked at his teacher flatly. "I will make them! But on one condition, Professor!"
"What condition do you want? I will tell the Academy Dean later!"
"Please fix this messy academy system!" Arvin said firmly, his voice containing a subtle threat. "Especially those stupid nobles who act superior! If they don't get punished, I will never help!"
He looked straight into Professor Elliana's eyes. "Just imagine, Professor, if they get stronger and then oppress other students, especially commoners. The academy will definitely be in chaos! Although I often speak rudely, I never oppress anyone in this academy and only act if they dare to challenge me like Allen."
Professor Elliana was stunned to hear her student's principles. Behind his arrogance, Arvin had strong morals.
"I will convey it to the Dean after this lesson ends."
"Very well, Professor. I will await the answer from Dean Saires!"
As soon as the lesson ended, the impact of Arvin's words was felt immediately.
Suddenly, the board of teachers held an emergency meeting. An announcement was released: The academy was suddenly dismissed early.
In the classroom, Selena stared at Arvin in frustration. "Arvin, this is all because of you the academy is on holiday!"
"Why you blame me?" Arvin shrugged indifferently while packing his things. "I only made a suggestion. If the Dean refused, well, I wouldn't mind!"
"Did you forget? You are one of the biggest fund injectors in this academy!" Victor reminded him. "They will definitely consider your decision! Money talks louder than rules."
"Ah... I don't care! I already told Dean Saires to do whatever he wants with the remaining compensation money!"
All his classmates truly couldn't understand Arvin's way of thinking, who so easily poured out a lot of money but seemed to have no ambition for power.
"Do you have no other ambitions or dreams?" asked Bryan curiously.
Arvin fell silent for a moment. His eyes stared far away.
"None! Besides graduating from this academy, I have already obtained everything I want!"
"Huh? What did you say? Are you not thinking about the Vedegra territory?"Bryan exclaimed again.
"You guys don't know anything, do you? I have already given up my inheritance rights to my younger brother. My duty is only to support and watch over him," Arvin answered briefly, closing the conversation.
All his classmates gaped in disbelief at what Arvin had just told them. Because an heir to a duke's title had voluntarily thrown away his inheritance rights.
Then Arvin stood up. "Since tomorrow is a holiday, I want to leave the academy area and head to the guild to become an adventurer!"
"This is the first time I've heard of a noble wanting to be an adventurer." Victor chimed in, astonished.
"Better that than feeling bored while the academy is on holiday like this!"
Then, Arvin left the classroom and returned to the dormitory.
Upon arriving in his room, Arvin wasted no time. He sat at his desk and opened a pile of old, leather-bound books.
These were no ordinary books. They were books on Ancient Alchemy magic that he had obtained from a secret room beneath the library floor—a place he found when he was trapped yesterday before destroying the door. The place was full of dust, but it held a treasure trove of extraordinary knowledge.
Arvin began to read. His eyes moved quickly, scanning line by line of the ancient script.
He turned the pages rapidly, absorbing all the complex information about concoctions, ingredients, magic molecular structures, to chemical reactions that should have taken years to learn. However, his brain worked like a giant sponge. All of it entered his head as easily as drinking water.
He stared at his hands in amazement.
Crazy. I didn't expect that I would have mastered the basic theory of Alchemy magic in just one reading, he thought, praising Arvin's cheat character. This brain... is truly terrifying. Eidetic memory and instant understanding are truly unnatural.
He smirked thinly. Good. With natural talent like this, I can do anything.
However, his goal in going out today was not just to admire his brain's genius. He remembered his plan. There was a group of mercenaries in the capital that he desperately needed for his future plans.
I have to find them!
